Speed Bump, hosted by authorblues and Smight

Speed Bump is a monthly speed running competition hosted by authorblues, streamer and fan of Dante's Divine Comedy, and Smight, streamer and host of the weekly video game based game show Arcade Pit. This page will cover games covered by Speed Bump and the best RTA records that came out of them. I will also list if there is a TAS associated with them, and if not any info that could be interesting for those prospective in TASing them if interested.
Game of the monthBest times achieved that monthTAS available?
November
Keith Courage in Alpha Zones (PCE)
FionaKaynbyou - any% in 18:51[1309] PCE Keith Courage in Alpha Zones by Sp00ky in 16:17.30
December
Skuljagger: Revolt of the Westicans (SNES)
FionaKaynbyou - any% in 31:36No TAS has been made. The any% route takes advantage of a warp input found in the 80 page manual so there can be an any% and a warps category, though the runs do play enough of the same levels that a warpless one would suffice in showing off most of the unique content that isn't the hidden warp zones that just give goodies.

January
Ophidia (PC)
FionaKaynbyou - any% in 7:31No TAS has been made. It's a Windows and Mac game but with no Linux support. Do not expect this to be TASable any time soon.
February
Sutte Hakkun (SNES)
Only 50 stages were done for this month due to the sheer length and complexity of the remaining stages of any%. The original plan was for the first BS Sutte Hakkun but complications with emulating it resulted in the cartridge release version to be run instead.
Moonberry2 - 50 levels in 23:19There is no TASVideos publication but there is an any% TAS draft by eternisedDragon7 on YouTube. There is also a score threshold needed to access all of the stages in the extra world and the hidden levels in the 10 main worlds needed to be found after completing the main 100 stages for 100% completion.
March
Rising Zan: The Samurai Gunman (PSX)
FionaKaynbyou - Normal in 34:37No TAS has been made. It would require some good understanding of enemy behavior to really optimize the run, especially the bosses that can block and counter Zan's attack strings. It would also most likely play on the highest difficulty since there are some notable enemy formation changes.
April
Devilish: The Next Possession (GEN)
Moonberry2 - Easy in 20:43[4188] Genesis Devilish: The Next Possession "1 player" by Meerkov in 11:07.21
May
Astérix and the Great Rescue (GEN)
Moonberry2 - any% in 29:11[4194] Genesis Astérix and the Great Rescue by Meerkov in 24:37.87
May
Banana Nababa
Gaphodil - any% in 2:40.23No TAS has been made. It's a very old indie game so it might be possible to run this with Hourglass or with PCem in Linux. Rapid fire takes out the bosses incredibly fast. Might require some RNG manipulation on some bosses for the best attackable patterns.
June
Mickey no Tokyo Disneyland Daibouken (SNES)
Erix33 - any% in 26:22[2960] SNES Mickey no Tokyo Disneyland Daibouken by arandomgameTASer in 20:35.47
July
Cast of the Seven Godsends (PC / Switch)
FionaKaynbyou - any% in 5:48.570No TAS has been made. It's a Unity game where unfocusing on the game and refocusing is part of how the glitches work. Do not expect a TAS of this game anytime soon that uses glitches involving that. There is a Switch port so if there are TAS tools for Switch it'd be possible though would have fewer glitches available.
August
Abuse (DOS)
Gaphodil - any% in 27:35No TAS has been made. This is a DOS game so this game is definitely TASable. It would be interesting to see the weapons being used to their absolute limit to reach the best times possible.
September
Blues Brothers 2000 (N64)
No players due to emulation issues. No TAS has been made. As of this writing (20 January 2022) there are emulation issues with Blues Brothers 2000 where the enemies and obstacles move much faster than intended, leading to unavoidable hits and an unwinnable sewer chase sequence. Due to N64 emulation being the way it is it'll be a long time before this is TASable at a hardware accurate level.
September
Pocky & Rocky with Becky (GBA)
Erix33 - Normal in 10:57.960[4690] GBA Pocky & Rocky with Becky "Becky" by Darkman425 in 12:37.89
Oh look who it is.
October
Racing Gears Advance (GBA)
Goal of the month was to complete 3 circuits from a new save file due to game length.
Erix33 - 3 Circuits in 25:07.739There is no TAS publication but BlueJello1 has made an all circuits TAS, watchable here. There are a lot of exploitable out of bounds spots in many tracks. There can also be a TAS that stays in-bounds and actually has to deal with the AI racers attacking the player.
November
Monster Maulers (ARC)
FionaKaynbyou - 1 player in 11:39.730There is no full TAS made yet. There is this WIP 2 player TAS by Pepper-Art that I found. The Japanese version (Kyukyoku Sentai Dadandarn) is used since selecting the boss stages with a mini-boss first allows for the mini-boss to be skipped in that stage. RTA selects the Moai stage first while the WIP TAS selects the Brain Golem stage first.
December
Shinobi (PCE)
Erix33 - any% in 10:07[4808] PCE Shinobi by Darkman425 in 07:04.75
Game of the monthBest times achieved that monthTAS available?
January
Magic Castle (PSX)
Moonberry2 - any% in 14:10
Darkman425 - All Tasks in 35:10
No TAS has been made. The runs were done on the initial release of the game since that was what was available. While the later releases added more moves to the final boss, the added defense scaling of all enemies in proportion to the players' stats in a run caused disinterest in doing runs on later versions. A TAS could do runs on the later versions if the RNG manipulation can be done strong enough to overcome the honestly not that fun damage scaling and the final boss's always available at any time healing. There is a possibility to do an All Tasks TAS that will diverge in routing from any% that can be interesting enough to make.
February
Skullmonkeys (PSX)
No players due to disinterest. There is no TAS publication of this game. There is a test TAS by paul_t that is in five parts: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. There is a potential for an all secret worlds good ending run but that involves a password to enter world 0 and collecting all possible swirly Qs in one credit to access the secret ending cutscene.
March
The Adventures of the Smurfs (GBC)
Erix33 - any% in 11:05No TAS has been made. There is some out of bounds movement that involves pressing up + down or left + right to go through solid parts of the map that can be used to skip large chunks of levels.
April
Jelly Boy 2 (SNES)
Erix33 - Bad ending in 34:34
JkL87 - True ending in 48:12
No TAS has been made. A 100% run (all heart pieces as well as all slabs) would have major overlap with a true ending run since the heart pieces don't cost that much more time to collect. This game has incredible zipping potential for anybody willing to try TASing this game for themselves.
May
The Misadventures of Flink (GEN / SCD)
DigiDigi - any% in 25:31No TAS has been made. Note that the Genesis version is supposed to normally run at PAL timing since it only had a PAL release. The Sega CD version was released in the US as Flink and is the only legally NTSC playable version available. If someone wants to have the higher framerate to TAS they have to use the Sega CD version ahd deal with whatever load times it has.
June
Disruptor (PSX)
FionaKaynbyou - Regular mode in 24:53No TAS has been made. The best ending is obtained by beating the game in Hard mode. There are some neat FPS tricks such as using the rocket's pushback to make some jumps not normally possible as well as the PSI abilities adding an extra tactical complexity to the game to make it interesting to route out. It is possibly impossible to get 100% kills on some maps due to enemy movement but that has not been TAS verified yet.
July
Cuckoo Castle (HTML5)
Darkman425 - any% glitched in 1:43
DududeDude - All Unique Villagers in 7:13.25
No TAS has been made. It's an HTML5 game so I do not expect a TAS of this as this time (20 January 2022). This game also has physics that are affected by the screen refresh rate. Thus there are 144Hz only tricks that are possible. Thus the times listed are for the game running at 60Hz. Note that the credits show up only if the player has exactly 10 villagers in the count.
August
Super Mario World Remix (SNES)
lungfish3000 - All switches in 20:32No TAS has been made. This SMW hack is more vanilla than the other ones published on TASVideos. It would probably be fine in a Playground or User Files area to show off what can be done. Note that the runs use the older version which allows for taking outside items into other stages.
September
Steamgear Mash (SAT)
DududeDude - any% in 12:43
DududeDude - 100% in 14:32
[3579] Saturn Steamgear Mash by Nye in 11:16.48
I did make an input file that beats that time but I only placed it in the User Files since I'm sure it can be improved a bit more for proper publication. It is available to view and download here. There are a lot of upgrades that are skipped for any% so a 100% TAS could be interesting to watch.
October
Nightmare Creatures (N64 / PSX)
No players due to game jankiness and hard runs to beat.No TAS has been made. There are a lot of out of bounds tricks that RTA runners use to get through stages that a TAS can definitely take advantage of.
December
The Adventures of Lomax (PSX / PC)
No players due to the existing RTA run being incredibly solid throughout. No TAS has been made. There is a Playstation version that has noticeable load times and a Windows 95 version that doesn't have as much load times. It might be possible to use LibTAS and PCem to get a TAS of the PC version but that's much more of a pain to do than using the Playstation version. The game does have some very considerable RNG elements such as the bubbles and the final boss attacks to worry about.
Game of the monthBest times achieved that monthTAS available?
January
Demon Burst (HTML5)
Gaphodil - any% in 1:48.783
Gaphodil - Deathless in 2:52.366
No TAS has been made. It's an HTML5 game so I do not expect a TAS of this as this time (20 January 2022). There is an invincibility glitch that can be activated by dying at the right time when beating the first boss. This also freezes the in-game time, making it unreliable to use for any%.
February
Mr. Tuff (SNES)
No runners for this game due to length and lack of forgiveness for mistakes. There is no full TAS yet but there is a WIP any% TAS that goes up to the end of world 3. There is potential for a 100% TAS that collects the all bonus coins to access the bonus world after the Mr. Apocalypse fight, though it would be a more accurate of a 100% run if the bonus coins are also collected in the bonus world as well. The 100% rules on SRC do not require those coins but it is something to keep in mind. From the looks of it the red fist is the most damaging and the thunder fist is at least better than the flame fist in terms of damage. There seems to be a possible RNG element since stars can be spent on a roll with random effects, such as having the spinning bolas and invincibility.
February
Sealed Bite (PC/Mac/Linux)
Gaphodil - any% in 8:12No TAS has been made. This game is freely available here and does have a Linux version so there's a possibility to make one in LibTAS. There is a lot of neat tech and skips that are possible, as documented by Gaphodil over on this GitHub page so a TAS would be a neat watch. I reckon a TAS can likely get a sub-8 minute time.
April
Master of Darkness (Game Gear)
Darkman425 - any% Game Gear in 22:31No TAS has been made for the Game Gear version but there is a TAS of the Sega Master System version here. Most of the strategies in the SMS version also apply for the Game Ger version, albeit with a much more compressed screen and level design adjusted accordingly. A TAS of the Game Gear version might be different enough to warrant its own thing since one of the possible RTA strats is switching off the axe in stage 4-1 for the sword to use it for a room in stage 4-2. I haven't verified if it's actually the fastest strat with a TAS look but it's definitely more consistent for me in RTA.
July
The Adventures of Pinocchio (Game Boy)
Moonberry2 - any% no level select in 14:44[5217] GB The Adventures of Pinocchio by CasualPokePlayer in 06:51.50.
August
Bananer Nababer (PC)
Erix - Normal mode in 6:37Literally a new game as of this writing (31 July 2022), so no TAS can possibly exist. The dev could be asked to make a Linux build of the game for TASing reasons. There's multiple characters so some might be more advantageous for later bosses in a run with a clean save.
Game of the monthBest times achieved that monthTAS available?
January
Shadowcrypt (Windows/MacOS)
Erix - any% in 13:45No TAS has been made. This is a Windows and Mac game whose recent update was in 2014. This was made in Game Maker Studio so there's a chance that someone could try to make an unofficial port to Linux.
February
Waves of Steel (Windows/Linux)
Erix - any% in 1:41:46.68Literally a game that reached full release this month as of tomorrow from this writing (5 February 2023), so no TAS can possibly exist. This does have a Linux port but no guarantees that it would play nice with LibTAS. Boat construction planning and routing is key for going fast.
March
Kandria (Windows/Linux)
DududeDude - any% in 4:19
DududeDude - True Ending in 20:48
No TAS has been made. There is a Linux version so the game might work with LibTAS. A neat platformer with a pretty fast run for the normal ending and true ending runs.
Game of the monthBest times achieved that monthTAS available?
January
Psycutlery (Windows)
Dudude Dude - Worlds 1 &2 in 29:00No TAS has been made since it just got completed 2 days ago as of 7 January 2024. It's also a Unity Windows game so unless someone ports it to a more TASable platform, this won't be getting a TAS anytime soon.
