As you point out in the comments of your video, there's a faster pacifist run, and it's no damage as well. It's amazing, and I'd love it if it was submitted at TASvideos!

Using Dolphin 5.0 - 8715. Saving and loading takes 1 second (maybe a little less) regardless of how long my Dolphin session is and how many savestates I have already made during it. Separate HDD for gaming, i5 4460, Radeon R9 270, 8 GB of DDR3 memory.

Timers are required to make some more enemies appear.

You did my morning, Agent Smith! Despite the fact you need some preperations before taking each bonus time, I don't think it's boring. Yes vote! I made a similar TAS aimed for maximum single combo on Wii 3 years ago. You can watch it here for reference and comparison: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHeN-caI1Ds

After more than 20 years, here it comes. Link to video Official Description: This is a Tool Assisted Speedrun of Full Tilt Pinball Space Cadet, done by running a Virtual Machine of Linux, then running a Windows 3.1 emulator inside of that Virtual Machine and using LibTAS as a TASing application. The goal of this TAS is to achieve the in-game rank of "Fleet Admiral", noted by lighting up the entire series of orange dots near the center of the machine. This is done by completing several missions in quick succession, all having different objectives. There's an incredibly high amount of "randomness" in this game due to how the ball's trajectory is manipulatable by both the flippers and the mouse position on the screen. I use this to my advantage by brute-forcing a good outcome in scenarios like Attack Bumper hits and selecting missions. The oddest thing is that the Windows XP version always requires you to complete three missions to go up one rank, but the Full Tilt version varies for reasons I don't understand. Going from Rank 1 to Rank 2 requires the completion of three missions (Or two of the "Secret" missions), but going from Rank 2 to Rank 3 only required the completion of one, and Rank 6 to Rank 7 requires 2. Regardless, this is what I came up with. There's still probably some improvements that can be done with stuff like ball trajectory manipulation in some areas, but I still think this is a solid attempt for the first ever TAS of this game.

Wow, that was really incredible. The game's shooting system suits perfectly for TAS because the 1st bullet always flies into the center, no spread because of walking.
There is spread from walking and every bullet flies in a random direction (base on the frame when the bullet is shot). I just had to compensate for the random spread when aiming. The bullets also have travel time, so I had to compensate for enemy movement on top of that.
If it's not difficult, could you explain it? Did you stop for 1 frame before shooting or you picked a lucky frame where a bullet flies into the center?

That was a matter of time when someone would make an improvement movie on this game because Randil's footage was laggy at times. Unfortunately, I prefer entertainment over speed, if it's not much faster. Voting Meh, but it worth publishing.

Nice improvement! I didn't know it's possible to blow up the roof to finish the game, by "dying" with health remaining =) That was interesting to read. Unfortunately, this TAS was made using QuickNES core which is less accurate in terms of emulation. The problem is fixed now. Link to video If there were no major changes in the core, you might play it back on actual version of Bizhawk. I downloaded 1.11.6 at once.

It's 2019 now. Is Desmume 0.9.9 still a better choice for TASing than 0.9.11?

The final frame seems to be 17868. At this frame you touch the axe and all objects disappear (on the frame 17869 everything appears again and then the bridge destruction starts). Unfortunately, it provides no improvement over HappyLee's TAS which also reaches this condition on the frame 17868.

I mean SMB warpless is one of the hardest categories for WR TAS and 18:38.22 stayed for 6 years and was very optimized, when MrWint's movie beat that movie that stayed 6 years.
If I'm not mistaken, only one TAS of the game X (or of the game series within one platform) can be marked as a Star movie, or else every popular title would be "Starred".

One thing is playing with numbers that may implicitly concern speedrunning and the other thing is executing real operations in order to plan, test and make a speedrun. Besides, speedrunning is a rare and obscure hobby. What is speedrunning? Is it some kind of physical activity where you have to cover a distance on your feet quickly? No-no, I'd rather watch The Game of Thrones. This kind of simulator will suite any hobby or occupation. At best, you will discover what does a speedrunner (postman, director, marketer), but I don't think much people will even try to speedrun something. It is the same as comparing a concept to it's implementation. The first one can be much easier than the last one.

I like time-based missions in gaming, regardless of genre and objectives (for example, breaking through to defuse a bomb or escape before the explosion). Some games even gave it a more global impact (when the saved time let's you spend more time during your next goal). When your time is low, you realize that you must do everything quickly. It gives you a surge of adrenaline, some new feelings. Unfortunately, modern games doesn't provide much of it. A good AAA project that provides this kind of challenge would be a best seller, I expect. The more people like the Time Attack concept, the more of them get curious about speedrunning. Our speedruns doesn't get enough attention and we don't have much people who is filled with enthusiasm to make speedruns, and even less - to make TASes. The audiance likes to watch TASes and RTAs, but they don't wonna make this kind of content themselves. Some of them are not even curious to read what is TAS. Some even dare to call us cheaters and they don't try to guess about the way we did that. I have major doubts about a speedrunner simulator. It depends on the possibilities that a player would have. If you will be able to build a level and order a ninja to complete it by your prescribed route - that won't produce a wish to do speedruns. In my opinion, player should do the same that a speedrunner does, because, when he/she moves from your game to any other game - he/she has to do speedrunner's routine for real. It's not difficult to drop this new hobby due to difficulty, big time consumption, low views/votes/likes, critique, pathetic skills and so on.

I did not find it boring, but the constant interruption of movement did become notably irritating halfway through. I can see it becoming a much more pronounced problem over the course of a full run. Would choosing a lower difficulty level (e.g. Hurt me plenty) help mitigate the problem? Could it possibly provide the right balance between the supposed challenge and smoothly flowing movement?
I think HMP mitigates this problem, maybe even with fast monsters to speed up all those infights. Also, then it's possible a take shorter route in E1M6.

It's an interesting movement/AI manipulation puzzle, but honestly I feel that there's not much entertainment value left. Getting constantly blocked by the enemies is annoying and makes it feel sub-optimal (even if it wasn't).
It's not a ninja game with all those dodging movements =) I think the category has a bad tradeoff between entertainment and speed. Something like "Hey, not too rough! + fast monsters" would be better. There will be less blockades and monsters will be more aggresive.
