I’m actually against removing downloadables entirely. I think they’re useful in case something goes wrong with the YouTube uploads, because despite it being really easy to upload the main videos there, Youtube as we all know can sometimes take down videos or make them unavailable for a multitude of reasons (most for completely crap reasons like copyright, TOS violations, being set to age restriction). That being said I do agree that we probably don’t need the mkv encodes anymore, as a publisher those encodes are rather annoying to deal with, for example subtitles using the native res before being stretched in the output. Although I wouldn’t be against publishers or encoders including whichever ones they want (but dont do avi encodes PLEASE).

Wait do you mean speeding it up for a faster TAS time or so you can skip it to get to the TASing part? If it’s the former, there’s nothing you can do to speed up the tape loading.

You can press the “-“ and “=“ keys on your keyboard to speed up or slow down emulation, those are the default hotkeys for it.

Some games on ZXS and even C64 had two types of formats games would come in. There’s tapes that would be a cassette tape, and then there’s floppy disks which would load faster than tapes. However not all games were released in disk format so you will have to look up to see if the game you’re doing had a disk release. Either way there’s nothing wrong with using the tape format.

If the game has a disk format you can use that which is much faster than tape format games. Otherwise no, tape loading has to be part of the TAS. It’s in nearly every published ZXSpectrum TAS on the site.

Just keep in mind that you do not need to make a new submission every time you find a few improvements. It would be better to wait until improvements are found so there isn’t a bunch of submissions for this game like there has been.

I’m going to suggest that if you have any future improvements for this game or any other game you TAS, instead of submitting a new movie EVERY TIME you find one, you should instead wait until you have a substantial amount of improvements so there’s more to show off. Seeing how this game has a bunch of improvements over many submissions, it doesn’t make sense why you wouldn’t try to consolidate them so we can avoid having a bunch of submissions.

Older version of Mupen-rr have had a security bug in them. The fork of Mupen that SM64 TASers use (called new mupen) fixes this problem as well as improving Mupen’s usage in general.
