As an aside, I am wondering how the previous movie not rejected for sub-optimallity, this input boundary was blatantly apparent by opening up the movie in TAStudio.
I looked at that movie previously in TAStudio but did not see anything that could be improved. It wasn’t an obvious improvement.

So I just want to say I am done trying to attempt to get this to sync in bizhawk. It’s really difficult to work around lag frames you cant see, and it’s already unlikely that anyone is going to beat this movie in the future. I know it’s really difficult to work with a boss where their movements are constantly changing, especially when you are limited to traditional method of tasing. But honestly at this point I don’t think it matters if you aren’t 100% optimized with the boss. Just do the best you can with what you’re working with. I really want to see this TAS in full force.

Hello, welcome again to TASVideos. I know you are likely still new here and find TASing games to be a cool activity to do. However, I don’t think you understand the goals of this site. This site aims to showcase the fastest runs for certain games, and authors work on their TASes for months if sometimes years perfecting every frame of movement. I unfortunately do not see that type of effort being put into this game. Spikestuff made comparisons with his efforts in making a faster movie, and you saw that and started to improve it yourself. However, you didn’t take more than 24 hours to make this new run. And given the low amount of rerecords in this movie, you likely did not spend a ton of time optimizing each section as much as you could. You have many great tools at your disposal to help you create a great optimized tas, and you don’t have to be a master in order to make a decent run. If you know the basics of what a typical Tool Assisted Speedrun should be, which is to optimize down to the frame, then you will probably make some decent TASes. Unfortunately I dont see that level of effort being put into your TASes. And if you continue to do only the bare amount of effort like you are here, you will be limited and wont be able to submit anymore. I would highly suggest trying to fix mistakes and make sections as fast as you can. And dont just do it all in one day and say it’s finished, try to actually challenge yourself. Say to yourself “ok this looks fast, but can I make it faster?”, only then will you be able to make quality enough movies for the site to publish.

I would like to suggest the star for [3048] Windows Rosenkreuzstilette "Grolla" by Hetfield90 in 25:28.53 get removed. comparing the rating of the previous movie to the current movie shows a clear drop in reception. Most who rated the previous movie had also giving this newer movie a lower score. Personally watching through the newer movie, I fond a ton of it repetitive. The only areas that caught my attention was the autoscroller before the cross boss, and the section with the waterfalls where it changes gravity. But these also happen late in the run, and I dont feel like re-watching this TAS again.

Console is not always the exact same time though. SNES, GBA (for game saving), and any disc based games can have variants in loading times, lag, and others. most of it is not deterministic like emulation would. So no, it would not be as easy as timing it on console.

That’s already the case. I would be against having the console verified version of the movie take priority over the emulator one. Because like I said, the site does not make console verification a priority, so why would you make the time equivalent to the console rather than the emulator?

TASes on the site do not aim to only work on console. The other problem is people who want to play back these tases will not know that the main file is actually the console verified one, where it might not sync. It’s just a step that is completely unnecessary and would cause confusion, especially to encoders looking to re-encode older movies.

I just want to give some words of advice here. TASVideos has always been about working together through research, testing, and other contributions. It’s essentially a collaborative effort from many people. People here are genuinely trying to help out in making the best possible TASes for the site, and that goes for this movie as well. You dont have to do everything on your own, in fact it’s much harder to do all that research by yourself. That’s why places like forums exist, so everyone can discuss movie making. If we can get along, and try to avoid insults and feeling offended that someone made a faster movie, then everyone can be happy. You can always share your progress with movie making in the appropriate game threads, and people may offer advice over what can be done better. The name calling does nothing but upset both parties, and shouldn’t be welcomed here.
