Bit of a long story but I actually discovered it when hanging out in discord servers dedicated to EDM (Electronic Dance Music, which I’m a big fan of). Since people there are also nerds in gaming, they were in voice chats watching AGDQ 2016 I believe. I had never explored speedruns much but it was really what introduced me to the concept.
Of course with it being AGDQ there was obviously TASBlock with dwango. The brain age TAS blew me away and I was at a loss of words. I knew this event was something i should be checking up on whenever I could.
Eventually when I found communities to hang out in, I then started to try speedrunning myself. The only game I thought I could approach was Tigger’s Honey Hunt for the N64 (this is why my avatar you’re seeing is holding hunny). I did get WR and eventually some more people picked up the game and tried running it themselves.
Eventually I wondered if anyone has made a TAS for Tigger, and when I found out there wasn’t one, I attempted to learn how to make them. Let’s just say, N64 was a terrible introduction for TASing. So when I got frustrated with the constant desyncs happening in that game, I tried doing other childhood games, which included Toki Tori and Dora the Explorer Super Spies. Only Dora was the tas I did finish and that lead to my first publication.
And the rest is history.

So it’s come to my attention that there is a score screen after the end credits of this game. (How I didn’t notice this until now, you can blame me not understanding Japanese and how they do numbers in this game makes no sense in english).
So this means I might have to adjust the rules for file ending.
There’s two options we have, we can either:
1. End input on the score screen meaning we have a definitive ending point
2. End input on the final boss at any point that kills him (for the actual submission, we would provide an alternative movie file to get to that score screen for the encode)
I would like to hear what people would prefer. Personally I’m leaning more for the latter option.

That's because the bug that TASVideos says unknown rerecords but it only regonizes as 0 rerecords on userfile.
No, it is not a bug. It’s there in the case that the rerecord cound gets lost and there’s nothing to show for it. and since no one actually tries to make a tas that aims to use 0 rerecords, that’s what shows up

The new design for sonic has been revealed.
Initial reaction: I think it’s a major improvement. Not only was the character design better, but the tone is much more comical, which is much more fitting for the character.

It’s not worth doing. In the room with the vomiting deer heads (or rams whatever) the only thing that could be used is the shot gun to kill the enemies behind Rick, but doing that means you lose a slide kick and even then trying to get past the hand on the ground without it hitting you is impossible.
Also that room has specific positioning to get past some of the vomit, the lua script in bizhawk shows how close rick’s hitbox gets to it. If even one slide is off, you can take damage.
So basically, I’ve tried to avoid it but it’s pretty much impossible without losing time.
Edit: the ghost room also has no easy solution for reducing lag. That room is probably the worst stage in the entire game just because of lag.

I think even rating things can be confusing. Like any time I ask someone to rate a movie, they sometimes get confused at what rating to give it. Like they understand the single digit ratings like 5, 6, 7, but the decimals are confusing too, like what makes somthing earn a 5.7 instead of a 5.8?
Imo it would make things simpler if we kept the decimals at like .0 or .5 for those who cant decide between a 6 or 7, and go for 6.5 instead.
