Audio for some reason is pitched, I wonder if it's due to making this game playback at 30 fps rather than at 60. or maybe it's something with libTAS that should be fixed. Either way, I am happy I got a chance to do it.

for some reason, trying to load any movie on gambette with TAStudio will instantly crash bizhawk. what's frustrating is it doesnt tell you if it stopped working or even gives you a debug screen, it just straight up closes itself.

If full list is know, why not to upload videos for all these TASes from archive.org to TASVideosChannel on YT.
Youtube encodes are done differently than the downloadable ones. Downloadables aren’t in 4K so they wouldn’t be in HD quality if uploaded (and wouldn’t be in 60 fps either, and youtube only allows it when the video is 720p or above). They would have to be specifically made for youtube to be in 4K or higher.

What would be an example of a situation where you forego using the provided speedrun mode?

So some PC games have speedrun modes where they basically play an in game timer during your play through, games like Celeste and Fez have this. Is it required in cases like this to TAS the game in this mode or can the authors do this by choice?

I think it's an interesting concept of how you can beat this game without pressing the B button to jump, but that doesn't mean it's can make for an entertaining movie. General movement is slow due to not being able to long jump, which is not something you want for a SM64 run, even if it's not the N64 version.
I will note that there are some interesting ways you do get around having to jump, like using goombas near ledges, but other than that, there really isn't much I can say about this that I could find appealing. It just makes me want a 150 star run.

Personally yes I dont mind these rules. We wouldn’t allow TASing PAL games using NTSC framerates because as far as I know, it wasn’t standard practice to play PAL games like that. Now that we have a system where these settings can be changed easily, it makes sense why we should try to keep playback as close to default settings (while making some acceptions within reason) and not trying to go to insane levels.

So after finally figuring out how to tas with the traditional method (non roll scripts like TAStudio), I'm attempting to do DS games. Trying out one of my favorite games on the system: Picross 3D.
Based on the japanese puzzle game "Picross" where you fill in squares to form a 2D picture, this game steps it up a notch to create 3D models using cubes.
I figured this would be an easy way to get used to the recording tools provided by emulators like DeSmuMe and be a way to relive my childhood.
I plan on doing all levels (which means I will be going through the tutorials as well). here's what I currently have for the first set of tutorials.
