Have you considered entering a Sylar lookalike contest? The first thing I did when I looked at your photo was grab tin foil to cover my head and protect my precious brain.
Do you realize how absolutely amazing Sylar would be at TASing?

collecting
coins
Anywhere up to like 70 coins does NOT waste time. When the level ends he has to take off his hat and brush his mustache. I don't know the exact number of frames it takes for that to happen but whatever that is multiplied by 2 is the number of coins it is safe to get in-level without wasting any time at all in the castle.
Basically a frame rule (buffer would be a better word), as I surmised.

I have a question: Does grabbing coins waste any time at the end of a level? Like when the game shows how many coins you got, it takes 2 frames per coin. If you could adjust your level routes slightly to get the same end time, yet not grab any coins, would it save those frames? Sorry if I'm wrong on this.
Unless there's a frame rule regarding the displaying of the coins, then it should theoretically save time. The main problem is that it would probably always take more than 2 frames to avoid coins in the level.

I mentioned before that I think that this would be a great collaborative way to make a 120 star TAS. The .m64 WIP is distributed to all the best Super Mario 64 TASers. They compete intensely to see who can collect a specific star in the least number of frames. After the mini frame-war ends, the new .m64 is redistributed and the process it repeated for the next star. The main advantage to this would be that a person that doesn't want to commit his or herself to the entire 120-star run could still contribute on and off. The more contributors, the better each star could be optimized. Normally on this site, a single author produces a TAS A of game X. Then, someone else produces a faster TAS B for the same game X. So on and so forth for TASes C and D, etc. I'm proposing a (theoretical) way to jump straight to TAS D in one go. This would probably be applicable to any game, not just SM64. SM64 just happens to be long and difficult to optimize (since it is 3D). Again, the main advantage would be that a lot of people could contribute with no central author. I guess I am saying this would be a way of making a TAS analogous to the way Wikipedia is written. Anyway, it is just an idea and I put it up for what it is worth. I know mr_roberts_z and others are currently working on a run (I eagerly await) and wouldn't suggest they change the way they are currently making it.
Thank you for explaining this much better than I felt like doing! I'm glad other people had the same ideas. 120 stars has always been one of my favorite TASes to watch

I just took a closer look at the NVA shots, and I actually really like this one: This one is nice, but the L. Gargoyle blends too much into the background: Suggested movie description (Publisher: touch it up if necessary): Demon's Crest is the third installment of the Gargoyle's Quest series. The player controls Firebrand, who is scouring the Demon Realm for elemental Crests, which preside over different elements (Fire, Earth, Air, Water, Time, and Heaven). When collected, these crests allow Firebrand to transform his shape at will and gain powerful new abilities and defenses. Demon's Crest (to those who have played it) is notorious for some very difficult bosses. In this run, the author abuses boss weaknesses to the extreme by switching Gargoyle forms when necessary. In addition, heavy luck manipulation was used during several encounters to make the otherwise troublesome boss fights look easier than a play through of Barney's Hide and Seek.

In terms of games I'd have to say Resident Evil 0, the main gameplay concept had clearly run it's course and new systems that were added made the game less playable. Thankfully it had the greatest comeback of all time in the name of Resident Evil 4.
I loved Resident Evil 4, and I'm glad the majority of people forgave the deviance from the traditional system, and even went so far to embrace and accept it. You don't see that very often. SUCH a good game.

Are you sure that dying makes you lose all your weapons? In all the GTAs I've played, dying just takes cash away. Of course, they could have screwed up the system in GTAA but I have to wonder...

I would be really cool if a bunch of different people TASed the crap out of specific stars, sort of like what cckk did. Even if none of them would be published individually, ideas could be borrowed for the next 120 star run. Sort of like an assembly line, with each person trained in a highly specified part of a larger operation.

Absolutely ridiculous, I search for years about info for this game, can't remember a damn thing about it, even play through as many NES Roms as possible, and still couldn't find it. And within an hour I get an easy answer. Thank you.

Ok, so how about this: It's a spaceship / shooting game, I think it was an arcade machine. Basically, you must proceed through nine (?) levels (of which I can't actually recall much), but the main idea behind the game was that the boss of each level was named after a planet in the solar system (i.e. Mercury, Venus, Mars, etc.). I'm pretty sure the bosses weren't exactly planets but had attributes that related to the planets? Maybe? I wish I could remember more. Hm, also remember the perspective being sort of behind the player...

The second season of Heroes was disappointing, but probably only because of the writer's strike. Also, not really a sequel, but D&D 4.0 is making me mad at the moment, due to the blatant fanservice. I can imagine dumb kids sending in letters talking about their needs for "demon-like characters that like to wear buckles and chains and spikes and Invader Zim patches". Some fool at the company reads the dozens of letters like this and decides that it MUST be a good idea.

I, for one, wouldn't have minded more seizuring. I tend to like wobbles and seizures of all types

Stylistically perfect, what I've always desired in a Mario 64 run, including camera angles and spastic Mario. Now if this can be applied to a new 120 star run, I will be extra happy. Yes.

Okay. your owned Try to fit that into a grammatically correct sentence. It probably can't be done. Edit: Okay, go.
I can see that in a poem, describing something someone owns: "Introduce your owned car" Of course, owned would have to be pronounced "owe-ned" to fit the meter of the poem.

The only way to top Megaman 2 is to top the music in addition to everything else. The question is... is this possible?

Bringing up an issue that wasn't resolved on page 1/2 of this thread: Dammit, not damnit. (I gleaned this gem of knowledge from FFVII) Also, canoeing. Even though the word filter thing is telling me I'm spelling it wrong right now, I think that's how it's spelled. Ah, I also have a problem with people using phrases they don't understand such as "made do" (incorrectly used: "made due") or "bear left" (incorrectly used: "bare left"). I had more examples in mind, but they escape me at the moment.

From what I understand, issues with the "xxxx and I" vs. "xxxx and me" can be resolved by removing the "xxxx and," to see which of the two choices sound more correct. Take the following two examples, both (hopefully) grammatically correct: - Ben and I went to the store. (I went to the store) - James went to the store with Ben and me. (James went to the store with me). That's how I was taught at least.

The part I dread about that, surprisingly, is optimizing the password input. I wonder if the password is stored in the SRAM?

Thank you for your input! The main reason I didn't do DD is because it would have added like 15+ minutes onto the run, since you have to wait for the credits to run before the password screen appears. If I did wait it out though, it wouldn't be a problem to use the reset feature of the SNES9x, since the password is stored and I wouldn't have to put it in. But even after I killed the DD, the credits would roll again, I believe, which would make the AVI at least 33% longer.
