you ask Bisqwit to change your status. I thought it was once you get a movie published as well, but that's not the case. Just send a PM and he'll change it for you.
Sometimes, Bisqwit changes it for you automatically. Sometimes not. I had my status changed and didn't realize it for a while. Edit: Mukki, I'm sure you meant 40 posts, but I'm pointing it out just in case new users become confused.

spockybiemmichab, I was able to jump two barriers in Chill Penguin's stage because of downslope jumping, so Zurreco is right (although it doesn't really need a critical point; any point going downhill will do). You will notice that the slopes are actually upslopes. I press left for a couple frames to walk downslope, then jump and press right. Downslope jumping increases airborne horizontal velocity as well as initial vertical velocity, hence, the higher jump. It cannot be used with dashing. Now that I looked at the Armored Armadillo picture, I realized that I missed an overhang walljump. There's an improvement.

Absolutely excellent. There were only two spots in Armored Armadillo stage where I thought you could do a jump without grabbing the wall. But that's probably not true...
Now that I remember, there is a spot where I had to stop rightward drift by hitting the floor. I can jump into the pit directly, but the problem is that the rightward drift will carry X all the way to the right side and land where I don't want him to go. Pressing left does not help. Edit:

Well, there's not anything inherently special about getting a game under (or sub, because sub is a popular word) 30 minutes either, in my opinion. I never understood the fascination with sub this and sub that.
Yes, but it gave me something to aim for. I wouldn't be depressed if I couldn't beat it. It's actually not a big deal; in my opinion, 29:58 looks worse than 30:00.

Not really, but if you put a request there, I can do something about it. If you would like a user homepage, contact Bisqwit.

When I made the crack about beating 30:00, I meant getting the run under the 30 minute mark (which I did), not improving the published run by 30 seconds (there's nothing special about that, and I was already 42 seconds ahead when I said that).

Yes it should. If you check memory address CACA-CACB, it should be clear which actions manipulate luck.

It's better not to impose artificial limitations, and people will know that because of the glitched dash in the ending.

I never heard of that before. The version 1.0 I have didn't do it yet. Speaking of beating the game without dash boots, I was thinking of making a speedwalk of the fortress stages using a hacked passcode.

Please settle your differences by PM. It's weird how we're supposed to be discussing a popular movie and yet this thread is derailed (now over 50% of the thread) just because of two or three posts.

Can you guys please stop arguing? It's just one no vote and one opinion; get over it. Don't take things personally. A vote is an opinion, not an attack against your beliefs.

I've been pretty busy lately (actually, throughout the whole run), so don't expect submission this week. I'm currently at D-Rex and I need only 24 more frames to beat 30:00. Technically, I am already under half an hour but it won't show up until I save those 24 frames. If D-Rex had magically destroyed X's charge ability at this point, things would be very simple. But it didn't, so it's not. I also need at least one day to write up the submission text.

If you load a savestate not of the movie file, (this may be different with Gens, but it works this way with snes9x), you'll get a message saying that the savestate isn't of the movie file, and nothing will happen.
Depending on the emulator. With read-only off, some emulators will give an error message and then start recording from where you attempted the load. I personally lost half a run that way (fortunately it was only a test run). Always back up your files.

Wait, so now editors cannot edit branch names in the movie header?

Is it my imagination, or is there significant audio/video desync near the end of the AVI?

I can't believe this was possible. I believe this is a master of the speed run...I would salute you with a Beer if I had any.
Keep in mind that this is very much a demonstration. The demonstration relies on the sequence after end of input having a naïve probability of 1/98537472 of occurring. 1/98537472 (or luck manipulation for that matter) does not put a run on a pedestal. Entertainment does. I didn't aim for fastest time, even though it looks that way. I forgot to mention, but:
(for hurry timing)
...
  63 63 42 66 00 E5203C 65 15568
...
Even though the delay (15568) is longer than this one (13280), constructed movie will almost certainly be shorter than this one even in input. I didn't motivate myself to do so ... yet. Pros: - shorter absolute difference between input end and game end - shorter input - less rolls - each CPU takes only one move prior to input end - 3 CPUs land on income tax Cons: - shorter absolute difference between input end and game end :) - more waiting - no double-roll (triple-roll, really) manipulation prior to input end - 3 of 4 CPUs land on the same square (1+3 / 3+1), then those 3 roll 6+6 on next move.

Okay, I got to an optional battle. Not optional as in you don't have to do it, but it doesn't matter if you lose. If it is faster to lose, should I still win? And this may be put on hold for a while to work on Kirby's Adventure.
If you can beat that Ronald as fast as you beat the others, go ahead.

Just when I thought I couldn't get more, I ended up gaining 35 frames just before Launch Octopus. Spark Mandrill charges forward, lag reduction underwater. 102 to go. There is one more lag reduction part (between Octopus and Mammoth) and I hope to save 1 second at D-Rex by hitting twice with two charged shots. Also, I expect to save some time at Velguader and try charged shots against Sigma. That's about it.

Uncancel this submission, then PM Bisqwit with the fixed version.

For the update, I saved 9.5 seconds on Sigma 1 and 3.5 seconds on Sigma 2. I have just beaten Sting Chameleon again and I saved another 3 seconds. I can't save much more anymore. I need to save 137 more frames to pass 30:00. It's so close that I don't even want to guess. Edit: I meant 30:00 as in 30 minutes movie length. Maybe I should have said "beat 30:00" instead of "pass 30:00".

Well, perhaps you could redo World 0 as well? Make it more optimized?
Problem is that there are many bad ROMs, and only an elite few good ones. That doesn't stop you from trying, but I recommend optimizing it yourself.

Phil's demonstration of beating the game while warping through minus world is probably a better demonstration, and it works on a good ROM too.

I read moozooh's word with a dictionary,I think the answer of my question is the "turbocontroller",is that the tool who make the shotgun work like that? Where can I get the tool?
It's called "turbo controller" or "autofire". Such a tool exists in almost all emulators supported by this site. Suppose B is shoot. Then the game receives the input as pressing B every second frame. It cannot be done faster as pressing B for two or more straight frames is the same as holding B down. You can also do this using slowdown or frame advance.

I suggest isolating two ROMs completely, in different folders. One for TAS, one for playing. I have tried to use the same ROM for both TAS and playing, and it has messed me up many times (the playing, not the TAS).

I remember the slowness of the alternaroute in Flame Mammoth was a tradeoff for entertainment. But since you are going for frame perfection that is understandable.
I didn't think for once that it would be an intentional tradeoff. Also, I did trade off 3 frames of lag to get the Boomerang Cutter to circle X during the boss explosion. 3 frames is nothing, considering I could have lost 23.
