The TAS of Ace Attorney fulfills every requirement of a game and speedrun. It will still be faster than any unassisted speedrun, because it's frame perfect consistently for hours straight. No one could top that, but we agreed here in the site that menu optimization is not real gameplay and there's nothing TASable in that game. It' a made up barrier, because even though there's skill in frame perfect button pressing,it's boring. However, there are games whose menu optimization is integral part of the gameplay, when saving frames for better management of items or even to execute specific glitches. We don't ban these games cause that's usually not what they're about.Pokemon isn't originally about going straight to the Hall of Fame. In my opinion, we just created this barrier because we don't want something with the worst entertainment value possible in the site, but that's not to say that the game itself doesn't have a way of a faster completion. Speedrunning has always been a balance between Speed, Challenge and Entertainment, after all,it's to entertain ourselves that this hobby exists. The most popular categories for certain games are not the fastest, but the ones which show off more of the game and occasionally put more pressure in the player. When games devolve into stuff like 0:00 pokemon runs and exploration glitches in LTTP, it's when people show how much they hate the lack of challenge these routes provide. Now consider TAS removes the challenge of precision as an aspect, and the "TAS is cheating" crowds begin to howl.A skip may be challenging, but isn't it skipping many challenges too and reducing the challenge conversely? Tl;DR:We're a sophisticated version of "TAS is cheating" crowd. If it can end faster,it's TASable.Even though it might suck and we might not enjoy watching it or have no interest at all. IMO. I don't even think certain normal games should be speedran at all, like Kirby(such a slow paced platformer is better for enjoying it normally,it really feels like a game better enjoyed slowly).Just a digression.

I hope Spikestuff submits the improvements after he had all the trouble of finding them in the first place, instead of just not having anything at all.

I just noticed something interesting:AgumonEX(Omnimon digivolution) has a really weak flutter jump that isn't documented in any of the FAQs i've seen about this game, too bad he's one of the last unlockables,BlackAgumon and Agumon don't have it at all. It's as interesting as the special version of Guilmon dash attack in the treadmill from Wormmon's stage. http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19842 Run was rejected, improvements on the thread.

Is it a problem if do a movie with 2 controllers enabled, even though i'll probably not use the second character at all, cause i'll have to test if it saves time in specific places?

This game should be run in Easy mode 1p. Hard mode doesn't change behavior, just adds more enemies and HP to the bosses, without changing patterns. 2p mode does not allow for double hits in the same frame. http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/44545368386517229 Wip Before anybody asks, i did not lose or gain time doing that little clip upwards in the grey block,it evens with a normal jump.Running down slopes, removing obstacles and throwing blocks is the way to go in this game.I appreciate your attention.I also paid attention to never get stuck when grabbing the blocks, which is common if your face isn't next to block's height early. My opinion about this category: REMOVE N64 The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask for being extremely outdated. There's just no way an outdated route for an constantly changing game should remain as an example of TASing.Get something else 3d like Banjo-Kazooie. SNES Super Metroid (JPN/USA) "reverse boss order" in 46:42.38 by Saturn. I'm not a big fan of the reverse boss order because i don't know what the actual order is,since i've never played it.I really find the megaman runs clearer in their TASing since Megaman probably shouldn't be inside the ceiling or walls. I know you guys hate fighting games and all that jazz, but could you please put at least one glitch and combo exhibition from Mortal Kombat or any of the Capcom Versus Series(mvc, xmenvssf, mvssf)? Anything please.I think the Capcom games would be better to represent the Arcade section too, and Magician Lord would be another great representation of the platform. For RTS,any WC2 run is cool and the RPGs, I also vote for the suggested Chrono Trigger.

I was mostly trying to avoid crashing the emulator when i did the agumon, impmon and veemon's fights. When in Overwrite mode, the emulator crashed and made the movie file also reproduce the crash, the frame that crashed the emulator would show many different key presses at the same time on the input display.I just changed the fights until I could proceed ahead. Of course. you're not going to find the movie entertaining with the explanation given but I did try doing the fights differently before making the decision of letting the character "rest".

in The Milleniumon fight, I need to take damage because it's faster than dodging it and losing the opportunity to hit him.Since you played the game, you remember the laser attack tracks the horizontal movement and the ammount of horizontal movement needed to dodge it won't let me stay in the higher platform or will destroy the lower platform,so this is not an option. Second option is to drop down the platform but when you do it straight down you'll need to wait for the laser to be sent before you can start climbing back up,otherwise you'll get the low platform destroyed. If you drop down but go to the lower platform, it means you're already badly positioned since the optimal position to hit the boss is in the right side of the higher platform and you're in the left,so i'm going to have to dodge the attack to not get a full hit later, which kinda beats the purpose of dodging at all.Doing it too early also destroys the platform. So all the dodging involved kinda needs waiting before the laser and then some more movement to get back to a bad position. I'm also getting hit in the higher platform to make sure he doesn't go into the background attack(which is what he usually does after destroying the lower platform and i have to avoid its destruction until the very end). Each of the 4 hit chances is frame perfect and will miss if i change the movement slightly or hit the button 1 frame later.(the air move has different hitboxes for each hit,2 in the front and 2 in the back) The characters have different damage in their moves, but the boss battle only uses air moves, which are one point of damage per hit, so i maximize hits and it's the only damage chart you need to know. The Digivolutions do 4 times the damage in normal characters, and have a special damage chart for the final boss, which is basically B attack is weaker and upB is stronger and usually the best choice, but you're not going to see them because the fight ends before Calumon appears.I really don't think anyone can make a playaround with this game at all but I'm 100% sure how the boss fight works and that it's optimized.I took damage to show that you can get hit and still not let the enemy score points. There are 2 characters i considered for the run as well but they're even worse to control in the air.Gabumon and Lopmon are the characters so i suspect they're not contenders for a faster boss fight, gabumon can only hit a lot by going to the center of the screen, which doesn't happen often and lopmon stops air horizontal momentum and falls down immediately after his attack About Bizhawk, this computer is extremely old,i have DDR2 for the gfx card for example, the OS is pirated Windows7 so don't worry about it,I'll TAS whatever i can until the emulators are no longer accepted and that's it.But I'm tired of the Bizhawk suggestion, I already used the emulator in somebody else's computer and if I could use it,I would.I know it's a great option. Thank you ThunderAxe for encoding.

1Bizhawk doesn't run in my computer. 2I used a GBA bios which is called gba_bios.bin and it's usually used for console accuracy in the Megaman Battle Network discord community when creating manip setups for the console runs.I can't tell for sure it's the default one but it does look like it,since it gives that GBA screen before the game, just like my GBA used to.If I had to take a guess i'd say it's the emulator which is incorrect, since i couldn't sync my run with the version that wasn't win32.(folder says the emulator is vba-rerecording-svn480-win32,and when you open the emulator the upper bar calls it VBA-RR v23.6 svn480) 3Ban the emulator VBA-rr-svn480 if you don't want runs on it. It should take me hours to upload the encode, and it's split in 2 parts,so don't expect it anytime soon. https://youtu.be/o_KMoAnr8JQ

Link to video These are just fillers and have nothing do with the actual run i'm uploading, just wanted to share cause it's interesting. Link to video I saved a minute and made the fights a little more interesting, but I was mostly interested in how fast i could kill the boss. I already sent the movie in and the tricks used if you want to take a peek at them.

i find the hack to be kinda basic, compared to those SMW hacks that add so much content,so i'll probably get flamed for voting No.

I'm only TASing the first one, but i don't think the games deserve 2 separate threads because they're very simple. It has a lot of little tricks, however. My WIP always crashes the emulator and i already lost entertainment opportunities because of it,is there a more stable version of VBA? I'm using VBA-rr-svn480. http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/44398595986300625 encode Link to video[/video] beating impmon(skips 1 extra fight) and how fast you beat milleniummon dictates how fast the game ends, the rest is just filler.

even though the issue seems settled, i want to remind something: deeming a game not suited for TASing discourages people TASing and proving it otherwise, maybe someone will find a way to make it entertaining and having the boring TAS in the site might be the incentive for someone to improve the existing record, hopefully in a more interesting way

i also second this motion to rejudge, looks like new judges bring new judgements to the site and i don't want to see it go back to "vaultless" times, where you had to pick a game people liked to get it published, this is even worse than the garou playaround rejection because it actually goes against our rules and past judgements tl;dr:this game has a place in our vault

I think if the submitted solution shows gameplay that deviates from the compliance with the obvious educational goals,it should be accepted, provided it's optimal.
