Having watched this... 1) Technical accuracy seemed excellent (keep in mind that I have never played this) and I couldn't fault it in this department. 2) Entertainment-wise this didn't (entirely) do it for me. The shooting sections were great, but they were few and far between and the vast majority were over too quickly. However, I was never entirely bored and I sat through it all. The pros and cons have balanced my verdict to indifference. I vote 'meh' on this submission.

Zurreco was running this, but seems to have lost motivation and last I heard he was trying to pass it off. I was planning to eventually get around to this game, but that's a long way away. I hope you can complete a run of this.

Voting Yes. The run was well done and seeing the new glitch properly utilised for the first time was interesting. Good work. Although, when it was first discovered there was so much hype to the sound of "will we see a sub-1:30:00 run?" I'm guessing from this time that this will not be possible.

I couldn't fault this. Good job. Are you able to provide any frame comparisons on your new 'lil penguin lost' strat? I wasn't entirely convinced that it was faster. Also, how much time has been saved over FODA's run by this point?

The main chain of game stores here is aptly named 'Game'. Pretty poor. The only other I can think of is 'Gamestation', which is infinitely better than 'Game' as it still sells NES, SNES games etc.

Excellent. This movie is incredible for these following reasons in my opinion (in ascending order of contribution). 1) Technical accuracy seemed through the roof, a great improvement to what was already a highly optimised run. 2)The fast action on screen was very entertaining. After watching so many TASes I find it very difficult to be genuinely impressed by character movement purely because I've seen it all so often before. This movie had several moments where Samus darted across the screen moving fluidly and skilfully in ways that astounded me like it did when I saw my first TAS. 3) The input animation took my admiration of your work, JXQ, to a new, even higher, level. I've always thought that TASes (own opinion alert) should always have qualities that create what many would consider as art. These qualities are often drowned in the author's determination to simply "play the game awesomely", and many movies are made with very little unique creativity. I have voted 'Yes', this shall no doubt be getting a star and I think that JXQ will be worthy of ninja status if he continues to produce such refreshing and impressive movies.

Majora's Mask now is my main priority so I can't spend as much time with this as I'd like. However, I honestly have real plans to finish this run. I started out quite I while ago but was never entirely satisfied and so I made many restarts. At present about half of the first level is now flawless to my satisfaction.

Watched the WIP, it was highly awesome and much faster than I had anticipated. It would've been cool if Wario could've shifted his ass a bit more to reduce the wait after the second lap. Could this be manipulated at all? I'm guessing not. Anyway, great work :)

I finished, submitted and subsequently cancelled this run about six months ago :\ You seem to be a little behind on things Ridgway.

Excellent. There are so many issues with how PSX TASing that I am skeptical as to whether or not this will work out. I really hope you succeed. Also, dibs on Metal Gear Solid :)

mwl -- That shouldn't be a problem. It'll be around about that time anyway. Vidar -- Yeah, that's pretty much the right idea. It's bomb hovering. It starts off with the infinite sword glitch (when I stab a bomb and interupt it by picking it up) which makes the game think Link's sword is still 'on' so to speak and any damage taken whilst in this mode causes Link to hover (as long as the shield is up).

Redoing from 5:00PM. I'll post my next WIP after the lullabye skip.

I'll hold off until Petrie etc. give their opinion just to make sure before I start making any major backtracks.

Also I watched form the beginning and when you get to snowhead you kind of fall off the cliff a few times before the end of the input file. normal end-of-file messing around?
The previous WIP ended after the Goron rolling section. Anything after that is my testing and getting a TASing feel for the area etc so yeah that's really all it is. Okay, I propose a redo incuding a SoDT at 5:00PM. Is there any reason why this may be a bad idea? I'd really like to move on.

If you are intending on seeing the certificate then, yes, do it after stepping into Indigo Plateau. After the credits wouldn't have the same closure. However, if you did it before Victory Road then the movie would run more fluently and you wouldn't seem to be going so far out of your way. That's just me speaking though. Whatever works for you is best.

Seconded. I know this was already speculated over before, however, with this new glitch the movie should be short enough to be watchable and since there is likely to be a major route overhaul it shouldn't be to irritating to impliment.

Yes that's what I measured my time to, but I didn't realise ISoT was activated. I also took into account that it would take 00:01:06 for the Goron Race. One Terminian hour is ~50 seconds (if my memory serves well). Add in the amount of time it'll take to get to get to the track and I think I'll be arriving at Romani Ranch 2:00 - 2:30AM. That means I could be there in decent time for the alien game, but perhaps I could benefit from playing SoDT at 5:00PM...?

I haven't worked on this for about a week purely because of this uncertainty and I'd really like to get going again otherwise I'll get nowhere (4 months of work and only 40% complete). The beaver race itself is slower and less entertaining than the ranch, however, if I continue from where I now am the Beaver Race will probably be faster. If I play SoDT at 4:00PM then I should be at the ranch in time making that option faster. I'm willing to backtrack to get the ball rolling again. If, of course, that is the best option...

Upon reaching Snowhead, before the lullabye skip, the time is ~7PM. Therefore, I can assume that upon entering Snowhead Temple the time will be ~8PM. Goht should be beaten between 9:30 and 10:00. (Now I really estimate) Goron Race done by ~11:30- 12:00? By this timing I'll be in Romani Ranch around about 1:00AM. That means hanging around until 02:30AM before the aliens even begin to appear. This way the Beaver Race would probably be the faster option, however, the ranch bottle would be far more entertaining imo (alien shoot-out or swimming through 45 rings). I'd say SoDT at 4:00PM... This post was just a series of my musings. Feel free to come back at me on any of my estimates

What are the chances of me having to backtrack to do the SoDT? I'd quite like to try and progress as I haven't played in a while, but there is no point if I'll have to go back.

I'll look at it myself just to confirm. Pilotwings desyncing doesn't sound quite right, of course, there will be exceptions to what I said. Also, a user named Bukki? Do I have an evil twin on the forums?

You can indeed look in the Speed Demos Archive for the Metroid 2 Gameboy fastest time. http://speeddemosarchive.com/Metroid2.html

If anyone is running this I will personally shake their hand if they can keep it entertaining. To fully run this you need to win all 10 cups and Gym leader castle both in round 1 and round 2 and beat Mewtwo both times. All this with rentals as well. This run would probably be many hours long, it would be very repetitive and it isn't helped by the fact that you effectively need to beat it twice.

Another thing you should look at is ROM size. The larger the ROM the more likely it is to desync. I assume that this is because desyncs are caused by savestates not recording the last few frames when it is made. If the ROM is larger then one could argue that the savestate has more data to save and hence there is more chance of final frames being lost. Working on my experience: the SM64 ROM is only ~5Mb (very stable), Majora's Mask ~30Mb (very unstable). This idea has been reasonably consistent across all ROMs I've researched. Also, anyone fancy running Resident Evil 2? Only 68Mb ;)

I did some quick testing because I wasn't convinced. For WF lobby glitching is a few seconds faster than opening the door and it is much faster for PSS so I was in the wrong. Yeah, I'd go for lobby glitching in most cases as it should be faster, perhaps BoB should be tested...
