Since it has been a while since my last update I'll give one here. I've done Deku Palace and it looks great. I'm having problems with the Deku Flowers on the road to Woodfall. I'll jump in, do my thing but when I play it back Link always flies off in the wrong direction. As always I'll do my best to overcome this and I'll post a WIP after getting the bow. Hopefully this should happen within the next week or two. Also, I think using a Death Warp after getting the bow will be faster than Song of Soaring.

I enjoyed it, but there seemed to be so many places where you took damage and it appeared avoidable and didn't seem to save any time. That's my only real gripe, however, good job! That must've been a nightmare to make (no pun intended).

I got bored so I thought I may as well join in the fun :) Here is my 16 star Super Mario 64 real time run. I thought it all went ok, shitness comes from -- 1) Almost deathless bar one stupid one in Shifting Sand Land 2) BLJ up the endless staircase took aaaage somehow. 3) My Bowser throwing skills are shit. Plain and simple. Enjoy :) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/3713/SUPER%20MARIO%2064%20%28USA%29.m64

It was always going to happen. However, Phil has made many of the greatest movies I have seen and I sincerely hope that that is what he is remembered for.

If you are reffering to the stairs before the star door, you have to. You have to store enough speed to get through the door with only 16 stars.

You do seem keen to renew yourself here so I'm happy to give constructive comments on TSRP2. I still don't think the game is popular enough or well suited to TAS, but it did have some fun moments and it did have good novel value. I'll also remove my unconstructive earlier comment with a full apology ;) Don't make me regret it by stirring shit up again.

I thought it was something like that but I couldn't quite decide if it was for that reason or through error. Instead I decided to raise it regardless ;)

I thought this looked pretty sound; only two points -- 1) It seems as if you are still 1 frame slower than AKA at getting to the castle, but don't redo for that frame or you'll never finish this, I'm just saying. 2) In plunder the sunken ship you seem to get stuck behind the chest for a small instant. That's really all, neither matter. Continue, please.

That video is extremely dated. Most of those movies are long obsoleted. Also, the phrase 'the fastest way is the only way' is somewhat outdated too as sacrificing speed for entertainment is reasonably common. I think there was some discussion into making a new one a few months ago, however, I think CAD is thinking of a different type of demo. One that demonstrates the TASing process rather than the movies themselves. It could be perhaps be interesting, but I'd personally rather see this movie replaced with something better.

That is astronomically unlikely because you can't get upstairs without the key from Bowser 2. Even a 1 star movie is unlikely because we haven't yet found a way to BLJ to Bowser 2 without using MIPS. We can always dream of course...

That was just an anti-drugs campaign. An example of what can happen if you take too many '1-up' mushrooms.

I can almost guarantee you will need to do a bonus stage, because there are mandatory stars in really inside the claw machine (based on how fast you do it) and skipping stars in certain levels will be much slower than just quickly losing at the bonus game
More stars can be avoided than you may think. I looked back over my old run and the figures posted are those that I gained in that run (apart from Boss levels, where I collected many, but I feel they can almost be avoided entirely). Also, sidescrollers are a large source of stars, but I will have total control of course which means I can avoid a lot.
Stanski then wrote:
There are 2 health stars in this level (not including one at the end). Any plans to get either of them, as i think you can collect both without slowing down. Another tip, I think jumping is faster in most cercumstances than swinging.
The jumping I agree on. I also need to test whether or not I can get the star beside the Helicopter optimally without taking damage.
As Stanski thought further he wrote:
You can take damage and save more time in other levels than hamm's coins, as it barely causes you to slow down compared to some other parts
Good point. That was just really me looking at it on the surface and I could probably manipulate it in my favour anyway. That health star would be best off in Pizza Planet.
Mukki's final point was justified by Stanski as he wrote:
You might want to take more damage in this level
Agreed. Where, is the next issue. Many areas are similar. I'll look for areas where I can double up the damage with the invincibility period (i.e to pass through food and people).
As Mukki ran out of ideas Stanski wrote:
How are you planning to get through the part near the end with the exploding caps? Would you be able to take damage and just blaze through them? Also, you should make sure you don't need to take damage here slowing down for falling objects/coins/other things
The caps can be approached in a certain way to avoid them, I remember that much, whether it is optimal is worth looking back into. The falling coins could probably be manipulated to a certain extent, but not totally. I'll have to test how many I can presuade to follow my route.
Stanski wrote:
I'm not sure if you move too fast for this, but you gain 2 health stars for going getting a good enough time. Not sure if you go fast enough if you get a life instead
I'll look further into if the extra health would let me skip more in Sid's Workbench. If not I'l just take the life.
Stanski wrote:
Make sure you allow the claw to carry buzz, so it has a shorter distance to travel
Good point :)
Stanski wrote:
Remember you can jump over the yo-yo's and land inbetween them, at least the swinging ones. unless you are talking about when woody is on fire, which may be a good time to take damage
Yes I was referring to the last ones, however, since you have indirectly raised it, I way look into the swinging ones briefly. Perhaps a use for those two health stars.
Stanski wrote:
I'm not sure if taking damage here is optimal compared to other areas, but i don't really know
Neither do I really. Everything after 'The Claw' seems to get forgotten when thinking about this game. I'll look deeper into it. Whenever I get any spare moments I'll investigate these points further. Mainly I'll look into damage to save time and how/if the ending frame of Pizza Planet manipulates the coins in Inside the Claw machine. I'll update here whenever I can. Thanks for the help Stanski; a lot of very good points there :)

If I remember correctly. Final Fantasy 3 has a bug where if you walk across certain tiles the walking distance until the next random battle does not reduce. Perhaps you should look for something similar in here?

It happens to me when I try and make an edit smaller than my current sig or a post smaller than my sig. It's probably just do with the fact that the site code has undergone a lot of change over the past few days (ref. to avatar problems). It should all get fixed up soon.

I've been looking back over this game recently with an eye towards TASing it again in a few months time. In the meantime I have put together a rudimentary route for the time being. I haven't yet considered the possibility of a suicide, but I will look at it more closely over the next few months. Here is the route at the moment (feel free to comment); The numbers beside the level name is the amount of collectable silver stars I have estimated I will need to collect. Any more than 200 over the course of the game and I am forced to do a bonus round. I will aim for less on each occassion. Old Army Game (1) Take damage from Helicopter (4/5) Get health Star (5/5) Take damage from balloon (4/5) Red Alert (10) Ego Check(26) Damage falling from rope (3/5) Damage from clown (2/5) Damage from Plane (1/5) Nightmare Buzz (0) Buzz Clip (26) Revenge of the Toys (4) Checkpoints :) (5/5) Damage from Hamm's coins (4/5) Run Rex Run (20) Buzz Battle (0) Pizza Planet (22) Damage from cans at the end. Invincibility to go through boy. (3/5) Inside the claw machine (46) -- (4/5) Really Inside the Claw Machine (0) The Claw (0) Sid's Workbench (10) Damage from Fireballs (3/5) Damage from YoYos (2/5) Revenge of the Mutant Toys (0) Damage from YoYos (1/5) Roller Bob (0) Day-Toy-Na (0) Light my Fire (0) Rocket Man (0) - not that it matters Expect this to see a lot of edits, but it's something to work with for now.

I still think JRB is best the only other real method would be BoB, CCM, WF, JRB, PSL x 2 then the Wing Cap course (not doable in this run). Mr_roberts_z - There's absolutely nothing wrong with making posts when you are trying to get something right and are looking for help. Take as long as you need to get it right *thumbs up*

That was my logo when I encoded the first segment. Quite fitting :) The total time at the moment is ~00:38:12.

The green colour is just the way the image turned out. My sister recently installed new software which has messed up my .bmp files :( If you look more closely at the image you'll see that the background is completely black in some areas, which is my main concern.

I've tested out Rice's plugin, here is what my screen looks like -- http://s157.photobucket.com/albums/t48/slowiain/?action=view&current=ZELDAMAJORASMASK-1.jpg As you can imagine, I can't possibly work with this plugin. I'll be sticking with Jabo's Direct 3D6 1.5.2 as it has served me well thus far. If you were able to run my previous WIP using Rice where I used Jabo then there's no reason why you cannot continue to view my WIPs using Rice. This just makes it much easier for me...

Excellent. Also, does anyone have a video of what I've to do when I get inside Woodfall Temple. My route says 'Hover Glitch to ledge with switch (-4; you: 15 bomb)', however, I remember Petrie saying something about using that extra bombchu here.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/3567/ZELDA%20MAJORA%27S%20MASK.m64 I'm now in Deku Palace. Hopefully some of you can watch this, but if you're watching from a save state it will probably desync at the bombchu hovers. I've now been presented with a few problems -- 1) I'm all out of magic - It lasted just as long as it needed to, but it's a while before I need any more. I'll try and pick some up if it's on my way. NOTE -- All the bushes in Woods of Mystery gave only rupees, I couldn't manipulate anything else. 2) Running low on health - The Boat Cruise skip has left me with very little health (One heart). I think I have just enough to Goron Bomb Jump, but after that I'll need to find another heart somewhere if I want to get into Great Bay. 3) If I use a bomb to mid-air superslide over the Dekus blocking the way will this affect the route? I imagine I can pick up more bombs easily at Snowhead, but I thought I should ask to make sure...
