Is it just me or are some of the NES ads on the front page of the site entirely irrelevant to the context? They refer to NES hotels and not the NES console. I looked into this a little bit but can't really find much; they refer to the NES hotel in Amsterdam and also lead to some hotels with names beginning with NE (as in North East).

Right. After a lot of redoing i am happy with the first two remotes. I've done the whole intro thing, smash 5 mushrooms and hunt the two hunters and have entered the third part (but have saved in the black screen between level selection and the begginning of play.) Total time -- 00:02:56 I'm planning to do the third part and then giligex isle before zipping my progress and posting it up here for some feedback on what i've done so far. Stay tuned for that coming soon, i have a free weekend almost, so i should get a lot done.

Phil. Legends of the fall is brilliant, forgot about that one. Stalingrad...i saw the dubbed version and it didn't really work for me. Braveheart, great as a movie but absolute historical garbage.

That would be impressive actually. It wouldn't hold attention for any great length of time, but perhaps a five or ten minute video of really quirky and clever pictures would be interesting. Perhaps the sort of thing to go in the hacked videos page?

Any soccer, football, basketball, hockey game etc. To be completely optimised you could only score one point/goal to win the match. Any more would stop the game clock and cost more time. Effectively, you'd score once and then waste the clock away.

I would enjoy an entertaining 3-hour long movie. My top 10 should be back in this thread somewhere, all of which are great movies.

Why is there such a desire to get this site out to the masses?
More probably. More of everything. More contributions to Bisqwit to keep the site running. More people to argue and muse with in the forums. More varied and different gamers with different talents and tastes. But im with you in a way. Rather than propagating the site outright, it should be kept to those that have found it off their own backs. (A bit like the movie 'The Beach', or book rather, which is a lot better :p)

UPDATE -- Watching back over my movie i decided to redo a section and in doing so i discovered a way to skip the level menu and the intro video for each level. A massive find which at the very least should save a good 5-10 minutes on the final time. Also, i decided to go back to the start and take a few seconds to enter the menu and turn off Gex's voice. This will save a lot of time as well. Unfortunately the world will have to make-do without listening to Gex's wisecracks throughout this run.

That's very strange. Is there any reason why it can't play by the rules of hexadecimal?

Right, i've just TASed up until my first remote (yay!) This includes the intro and the 'whack five mushrooms' challenge in out of toon. Total time -- 01:25 -- 1200 rerecords approx. This means that the level only took 01:05, which shows that i am beating my original predictions very comfortably.

In fact Mrs. Pac-Man on the Genesis had a sort of storyline.... Can't remember how many stages there were, but it told the story of how the two met (??????), eventually the had a baby Pac-Man. (from the stork, any other means would just be wrong).

I can see why theres no pac-man TAS, the sound would piss everyone off. But Mrs. Pac-man was a really good game (as was Pac-Man). Any other GOOD games that would make a pointless TAS?

FODA has indicated that he will likely create a new 16 star run when he's done the 120 star run.
Excellent. Worth looking forward to along with the 120-star run.

Okay, i've got the start of my route worked out. -- smash five purple mushrooms --hunt the two hunters --climb to teetering rock --Gilligex Isle --Smash 5 blood coolers --survive the haunted mansion. This means that i will get all remotes for the first part of the media dimension, apart from the haunted elevator (too long). This also means that i will only need four remotes from the next area to fight Mooshoo Pork, however i will probably pick up a few more before moving on. I'm going to TAS properly what is listed above because this area is separate from the rest. This way the first part of the TAS will be under my belt and i can post it up here for viewing.

Rest assured, FODA got the key as soon as it was gettable.
I have no complaints with this run at all so far. I'm really looking forward to ther finished article. Just a thought...FODA found ways to get the Bob-omb field stars and the Whomp's fortress' stars much quicker than Spezzafer did in his 16-star run. Are we gonna see a remake?

I remember a game called Nice Cats....which was basically a half-hour long film ripping of 'The Aristocats' without the cool humour. After all that you colour in pictures. THAT would be a pointless TAS.

Just watched this run, and it's looking very nice so far. I've been waiting a while to see a PROPER SM64 TAS, although the existing one is good, this shows even the 16-star run can be vastly improved by using the moves and tricks in FODA's 120 run. I don't have a knowledge of the game THIS great however.... In Jolly Rodger Bay could you have gotten into the sunken ship faster after coaxing the eel out? In the first Bowser battle could you have grabbed the key quicker? (like you did in the second.) Just thoughts.....as ignorant as they may sound

Yes it is unexpectadly difficult in places. In its day i could complete it fairly comfortably, but now i myself am guilty of ringing up gamefaqs to refresh my memory.

It's Nitsuja. Only watched up until where you changed. The single second of imperfection in a fantastic movie, is now amended. Not that i noticed first time around. This one was always a yes.

If you ever finish this, I will surely watch it.
So far the chances of me finishing this are looking good. I am enjoying the game and i have the will to see it through. The ROM also seems pretty sound, however, when i watch back through my progress the last five seconds or so usually desync. This is easily surmountable by letting the game run for an extra five seconds. I just hope it's not a sign of things to come...

Ok. I have just VERY roughly TASed the first three levels in 'out of toon'. This is very approximate as i only used slowdown and load state, no frame perfection.....yet. This was just to give a vague idea of what could be done fastest. Teetering Rock -- 01:25s approx. Two Hunters -- 01:25s approx. (prob. a bit faster) 5 mushrooms -- 01:20s approx. (probs a bit faster)
