I have a quite automated system for encoding snes runs. I think the only think missing is automatic determination of how long to encode.
For WIPs, there isn't much point in showing anything after the input dies out. I imagine 10 seconds after last input would be good enough for any particular WIP.

What the controller exposes on the top level doesn't matter, anyone with a screw driver can open up their controller, and snap the crossbar in half, or press the contacts directly. I'm sure you can find non official controllers too which allow all sorts of craziness. The point is, it's not the system or the game which prevents pressing both, it's some cheap physical lockout that anyone can bypass without altering the game or the system.

What I and Bisqwit (I think) meant is the amount needed in each plane, aka 2x x, and 2x y.
Then we agree.

Only up until exactly 2x of the original. Not for "1080p".
Actually I think it's 4x time (2x2). Of course he's not justified for that huge monstrosity. Except he does raise a good point that YouTube loses quality in their encode on top of ours, so providing them with an even better source gives them less of an opportunity to screw it up.

Also, then you get actual justification for using a higher resolution.
He already is justified for using a higher resolution. Using native resolution, one loses color precision in the RGB->YUV colorspace conversion. Compare his Donkey Kong Jr. regular vs. HD encodes.

Play some Super Smash TV, you'll be fine.

Which member in this poll do you love the most? This is in contrast to the most hated thread. Please only talk about people who appear in the poll options.

I was going to say how cool it was of Nach to develop a feature of automatically adding posters to the poll as options but realized he was most likely doing it manually. Oh well.
Sounds like a great feature!

Yeah, noticed that problem myself too. Pretty annoying. If you have watched several videos, the only way to make them stop buffering and clogging your connection is to go to another page and then come back (or to wait for all of them to finish loading). Reduces the usability of the feature a bit.
How about F5?

Maybe this kind of poll could work with videogame characters? Or videogames?
That wouldn't be a bad idea. Perhaps I'll create such a poll after I win this one.

I really have to agree that this thread is not a good idea. Why even hold an unpopularity contest? Even if it doesn't erupt into a flamefest, all it'll do is make the people who end up "winning" feel bad.
I'm out to prove I'm the most hated one here. People always hate those in charge. And I abuse power better than anyone else. Of course all this is tongue in cheek.

There's a lot of hate to go around, who do you hate most? Note, this thread is a bad idea, and won't go any place nice. Feel free to prove me wrong. I apologize in advance if your name doesn't appear in this list.

Hey, DNF isn't vaporware. Apogee sets aside a percentage of all profits to employees who worked on a game while they're still employed at Apogee. Knowing that DNF will be the most profitable game of all time, any intelligent company would fire the entire staff a bit prior to completion, and then wait a period before releasing, so this isn't obvious and they don't get sued for unlawful termination of employment. Now that they fired the entire development staff, we know DNF release is right around the corner.

I hate this same dilemma yesterday actually. I had to write a message to a 3rd party regarding a partnership with TASVideos, and I had a hard time phrasing what I needed. I ended up using the term "movie" to describe a run, "author sequences" to describe emulator movie files, and "video files" to describe an encoding.

Baxter: Give this page a look: http://tasvideos.org/MovieStatistics/AllTimeFavorites.html I found some of the data there unexpected. UMK3 #5??? Extra Mario Bros #4? WTH? Contra 4 at #3? I didn't expect any of that.

I wish there was a way. If you find anything here that should allow for that, let me know.

May I make a suggestion? If it takes relatively double the time to complete SMB3 as it does SMB1, perhaps do the SMB1 2nd quest as well?

Sure it's fine. Just make a separate thread for hacks like this. But it's okay, I split the thread so this has its own.

How dare you post this here? We have to ban you now and delete all your published movies. In all seriousness, feel free to post stuff like that in the forums, that's what they're here for. It was a cute movie, and I found it interesting for its length. However, I don't think it's publish worthy here, as the game seems rather bland, although the two posts above me seem to disagree with that.

It's possible what you accessed before was an older cached version while I was still developing the feature. See if it works on your laptop now.

In order to help with this, today I added the ability to our YouTube module to play just a subsection of a full video. See http://tasvideos.org/BossFightingGuide.html to see videos that when played show only the exact segment in question.
I took a look at that page, and while the movie does start at the proper point*, they don't end after they finish the segment demonstrating the particular TAS trick/technique. Are they supposed to?
It sounds like you have JavaScript disabled. It's supposed to loop after the trick is displayed.
