You make it sound like judges don't really care or appreciate people's comments and votes (and only check them if they have some doubts about the movie). I'm not sure that's exactly what you meant.
I mean that if a judge feels confident he knows the correct decision for a particular run, he doesn't have to wait for votes or comments.

Well, it's new. Chrome doesn't even have an extension manager yet. But surprisingly enough, half the FF extensions I use already exist as Chrome extensions at least in beta form. Give it some time.

Post subject: Watching newer TASVideos' videos in Linux

As you most probably know, we encode our files into the H.264 video stream format, which generally needs a bit of CPU power to playback. We also recently switched to using the MKV container format instead of AVI which also seems to add more overhead too. I've found many recent videos on this site taxed my CPU a bit much. If you have Intel SpeedStep or similar installed, you'll probably notice when playing one of our newer videos full screen that the CPU will go into full speed mode, and run hotter instead of saving power. If you have an nVidia video card (which is the best supported video card brand for Linux), you can now get video decoding acceleration. For MPlayer, use the parameters "-vc ffh264vdpau -vo vdpau" when watching one of our videos. Other video players updated recently may have similar options. Under Debian based distributions, you'll need to install the "nvidia-libvdpau1" package. Look for a similar package under other distributions. Also, if you happen to be using Debian, you may want to look for updated video playing packages from http://www.debian-multimedia.org

I like Chrome because it uses Webkit instead of Gecko. Gecko is just really bad at standards compliance. Also, see this: http://insanecoding.blogspot.com/2008/01/mozilla-is-new-microsoft.html

This is getting completely off topic. Post about a particular game what you don't think you'll ever seen done inside it, giving people some ideas to think outside the box. Don't post about how you don't think you'll ever see Miyamoto TAS Tetris.

Nach, can you prove that your cap is actually from a game/movie and that it was not drawn in paint or anything? It looks a bit suspicious..
Here's your hints. Open ZSNES v1.51c. Load game. Immediately save PNG. Dither the image and lower amount of colors allowed so black is truly black. Use PNG tools to recompress the image as much as possible. Upload to imageshack, post on forum. There should be nothing suspicious about it.

I thought maybe I wouldn't have to actually say so.... but you just nailed it.... others CAN'T enjoy it if you post a 'cap' like that.... so don't? Are you going to come up with another within-the-rules-but-still-ruins-the-game example now?
I can if I have to. Remember this is TASVideos.

I'm not sure, I said that I used BASiC and C, but never heard of ADA and I don't know what that microchip is. Still got 60~%

3. Cap must be from a movie or game (no music-videos and whatnot)
Done.
5. Try not to, but if really nessecary one could obscure part of a caption to avoid it being really easy (e.g. cut out the main character/actor)... if so, make it clear which parts are edited
Not necessary.
note: try not to leave any hints in the name, tags, etc of an image
Done.
note 2: making it harder is more fun by having a hard caption of a well-known game rather than simply using some obscure B-movie/game that no-one knows.
Piece of cake. Good luck. PS. You may want to clarify the rules a bit.

So I went to go look at the test. 4 of the questions, none of the multiple choice options were really an option for me. The test didn't let me leave them blank either. So I just went back and filled those 4 randomly. In all honesty, I think my Sci-Fi/Comic thing should be lower, and my Technology Computer one higher. But whatever.

Wow, the IRC notice to this thread caught my attention, thanks ShinyDoofy. So they made a 3rd Super Mario Bros? When was this? I thought picking up POWs and Vegetables was as good as it gets.

I want to keep a list of places where we're mentioned in mainstream media, be it TV, film, magazine, newspapers, and things like that. Things which aren't necessarily gaming related is even better. So far, for a non gaming related source, I found this: http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1528811/20060417/index.jhtml

When we first start watching TASs, and understanding how and why they were made there were a couple things we never thought we'd see, such as dying in a game, which is used in some runs as a shortcut. For particular games, we didn't think a certain technique or item would ever be employed, as it takes too much time, but then someone comes along and finds a way to use it to save time. Lets create a list of techniques/items we don't think we'll ever see being used in a TAS for a popular game, and will be genuinely shocked if someone finds a way to use it effectively. 1) Super Mario Bros. 3 - Using an anchor 2) Super Mario Bros 2 Japan/The Lost Levels - Backwards warp
