Actually now that I'm setup, the most annoying part about encoding is that I keep forgetting a few steps; and the instructions are burried in the site docs.

From his last submission text, I think I spent more time laughing about his Contra comment than reading the rest of it.

Oh come on, you know I couldn't care one little bit about the movie, I just want to read his submission novel when he's done.

Thank g-d. that's what I have. I'll be looking over your movie now, I may encode it tonight or tommorow, but I don't think I'll be able to share the AVI till Sunday.

I won't complain, so long as the Wario Land 4 run is finally accepted. It has nothing but positive votes (12 I think), it has been there for long over a year, and it is very good. Please consider it.
I'll be looking over WL4 later today (I hope I have the right ROM).

Currently there are a few runs which have been sitting on Accepted status for a while without anyone encoding them. Perhaps we should get more encoders first.
Some encoders like me for example also don't have a large upload capacity, so prefer to stick to encoding runs that will produce tiny AVIs. I also need to go setup NES and SNES encoding I wouldn't mind encoding the 10 minute videos.

Legend of Mana has Chocobos too. Does that make it a Final Fantasy game?
I didn't say same game series, I said same world.

I will not say on what I am working in the moment, but as all my TAS in the past its again a GB game.
If it's a good run for a game that I have, I'll probably encode that too ;) I really should start encoding some of the AGB runs in the queue, but I'm worried they'd take too long to spread. Was anyone upset that it took 8+ hours for this video to be distributed?

Most adventure games play in a fantasy world, but they rarely share characters. There are no Chobocos in Chrono Trigger for example. And CT says mana comes from Lavos, making it impossible to fit in with the same world as the other Square games.

For me its a mix from Secret of Mana and Final Fantasy. Both are from Square and they use some things from Secret of Mana and some from Final Fantasy. But its more from the Secret of Mana game series.
I realize it's more from the SoM series, but don't both take place in the same world?

Final Fantasy Adventure is an Action RPG which takes place in the Final Fantasy world
I just want to point out that this is technically incorrect. Final Fantasy Adventure is really Seiken Densetsu, but was renamed when brought over to the United States to play off the popularity of the Final Fantasy name. So it's not really "in the Final Fantasy world", it just pretends to be.
Chocobocos or whatever those birds are called are from the Final Fantasy world, as are those wizard characters with the straw hat and blue cloak.

As far as I know, glitch-use aside, Mew could only be acquired by downloading it from a machine that was occassionally set up at Pokémon events organized by Nintendo offices in different countries. But Mewtwo is another story.
In the US, Nintendo originally had a contest where you mailed in a letter, and 151 letters were selected randomly, the winners each being able to mail in their packs and getting them back with Mew on it. You could also get it using a Game Genie or Game Shark.

This game is like the first super mario brothers now...even If I had found small frames adding up to an entire second this movie would not look any different.
I don't think so. I think not all of the tricks have been exhausted yet. Quite a few glitches were never tried, and a few areas can use some more original thinking. Although it may never happen, I think there is the possibility someone will come up with a way to save a second or two, and that will happen by slightly modifying some routes and glitch usage.

I had a feeling someone would say that. I didn't mean he owns the method to the game, he just has a right to reclaim what was his when someone copied him. And yes, everyone is able to attempt to beat the current movie, however the old title holders are specifically queried if they are still around; since they more than anybody would try to beat it and have a submission war insue.

I'm reading this thread and I get the feeling most of you are not getting it. Some suggested it's about Phil. Some mention SleepZ. Some complain about how it caters to the pros. Some feel personally attacked. Some feel SMB2 is somehow different. Some mention how a run should be judged by itself. Place others options here. What Bisqwit was saying actually has nothing to do with what was just listed. If you post a movie which is faster than the previous one, where you happen to hold the title, it's generally accepted immediatly. If you post a movie which is faster than the previous one, where someone else held the old title, time is given to the previous title holders to beat it, since we don't need one game having it's movie published 5 times that week. If you post a movie which has no run for it, then it is judged by itself, just like every other one is also judged by itself, but there is no worry of competition. In this case, Bisqwit, SleepZ, Genisto, and Phil are all old title holders, they are now being given some time to try to outdo this movie, if they fail, this movie will be published, if they succeed in beating it, then Bisqwit, SleepZ, Genisto, Phil, and DonamerDragon will have the option of trying to beat the new movie before it is published. The rules are not bent in anyway to reflect any particular individual or any particular game. The rule is in place for two reasons. 1) It's annoying to encode the same movie over and over again in such a short timespan. 2) The new movie is usually based on tricks of the old one, just improved in some ways, the person who contributed the brains behind the previous one should have a small amount of time to protect his intellectual property (gameplay strategy).

Interesting to note, this has to be the ultimate TAS game. So many many bugs, each which can give a small time saver. Multiple characters for more strategy, Different routes... I don't think we have another game on the site where people are constantly thinking what's there is practically perfect, and then someone finds something new.

Who are you? Samus's daughter? You should be proud of your mother, she showed that against all odds, against someone with her physical abilities at their peek, they still were no match for her intellect and manouverability.

is there any faster way to beat the game as beating the game with "best ending" ?
There's the medium ending which is faster because of no detour to get the 2nd girl and a faster fight for the 6th boss. Then there is the worst ending where you don't have the saving the girl detour, and possibly that route may also be faster if you take the falling of the candles route.
