I know it's impractical, but I do kind of wish TASes like this had some kind of requirement for hardware verification to be accepted. The very nature of the run is to push the limits of the hardware, something just seems lacking if it doesnt actually work on it.
It's important to note that due to timing differences, many runs that don't work could be made to work with some tweaking. Due to deficiencies in our emulators, it's not always feasible to ensure sync on a real emulator when creating runs, including this one. However, if what is being done should be technically possible, just some timing or mapping requires minor adjustment, I would still consider the run valid.

Such a thing would bar us from accepting a run, as it'd be distributing a bunch of other games.
Uhhh... the legality of this TAS is already questionable. It contains a bunch of music code ripped from other games, sprites ripped from other games, one copyrighted song and one copyrighted video clip.
You're right it is questionable. Making those games playable is even more questionable.

So is the SMW/SMB ACE movie illegal, as it 'distributes' SMB?
That SMB looks like SMB, but is actually programmed by p4plus2. However, it is based on the original, and also reuses some of the original content, so indeed it's questionable. However, I'd also point out, it's not SMW/SMB, it's SMAS+SMW/SMB, and thus parts of it are already in there.

I think as long as a TASer has the drive to push technical limitations further than before, or to create a new visual audio experience
I dislike the focus on technical qualities. As for visual audio, it shouldn't just be about being "new". Any game can be turned into a jukebox and display the player's name in their favorite color, I don't think that should be a goal though, and it gets awfully repetitive fast. Our players should muster their creativity and provide something fitting for the game at hand, to alter the existing story in funny ways, or add on fun and entertaining abilities. This run is terrific because it took Pokémon, and added on more Pokémon-related things, and did other things within the setting the game already has. It was an extension of the story, and it's entertaining. The payload here could be ran on other games too, but it wouldn't have the same impact if this is what we saw in say Link's Awakening DX. If someone was looking to run something crazy on LA DX, they should choose things more fitting for that game. Modifications to existing games is also a barely tapped market. Each game can have their own and be fun in their own way. Instead of having a long payload, the game itself can be modified and played through. For example in Pokémon, the turn-based fighting can be replaced with a more entertaining Mortal Kombat like real-time dojo, and play the game otherwise somewhat normally. Super Mario Land 2 can be modified so that Mario can get feathers and fly upwards, hit people with his cape or even throw hammers. Creativity-wise, we barely scratched the surface with what can be done. Our players just need imagination and the skill to carry it out.

I'm actually beginning to think that ACE is now pretty much complete as a concept, forming a sort of dead end in the space of what you can do with games. The issue is, once you can push arbitrary video and audio through the controller port (and we've now seen that on both the SNES and the Game Boy), there's no point in doing anything else.
Neither the SNES or Game Boy from what I've seen is capable of pushing full screen arbitrary video and audio through the controller port at reasonable speed. They're limited to either partial screen, only audio, only video, or limited tiles and colors.

It doesn't make sense to talk about what you can do with a game when you can so clearly make it do anything.
It's not anything, but close to it. Also, looking at Super Mario Bros. 3 run we've had, that hacks the existing game and remains playable with new features, which is different than just pushing A/V through the controllers. That's not seen in the submission, as our runs produce videos to watch, but it sure is fun for those of us that want to play it. The point being though, creating a new game is actually more difficult and rewarding for those trying to reuse it than A/V.

I would recommend not going. You have more important things to worry about for the time being.

What's going on with this run? Is there a particular file it should be replaced with? Are you guys still working on an improvement? Do you want to cancel this for now and come back in a couple of weeks when you figure it out?

In the end, $1,337 was donated directly. Additional donations will be made by dwangoAC's employer for matching donations made by employees (up to a certain limit).

I am ordering you all to vote for Super Mario Bros 3 by Lord Tom. I will have to doubt your sanity and intelligence otherwise. Link to video

If you look at your run on YouTube, it's actually well over 5 minutes long before you grab the final Ax. You're using a setting which makes the game appear faster than it is (4:25.43), and hence it is a rule violation.

Oh, a TAS is an emulator and we do a little save states and frame advance. But that doesn't explain what a TAS is!
It's worse than that, "frame advance" means nothing to a regular player. You have to use normal English, not TASVideos non-English lingo to convey things.

That's not accepted yet, the judge is still judging it. Should probably be set as delayed (ad infinitum).

Be sure to see reviews on the other as well
5.0 out of 5 stars Well i'm in trouble By Jared G. on October 15, 2016 This is an essential item to any home theater. Paired with my $35,000 LG 105" tv, my $40,000 Niagara Waterfall speakers, this makes the ultimate "I'm in SOOO much debt right now" setup. Although I've had 8 notice signs on my house, 1,000,000 emails from credit card companys, 100 insufficient fund letters from a few banks, I can watch tv in pure luxury. I'm upset though because I'm at an internet cafe because I have no power, no internet, or cable. I plan to sue them all shortly for their awful service. 5.0 out of 5 stars Free shipping was prompt and great. Would buy again By Maxim T on August 22, 2016 I couldn't find a HDMI cable deserving of connecting my gaming rig that is running three way Nvidia Titan X Pascal graphic cards to a 34" ultra wide gaming monitor. This HDMI cable now got everything running maxed out at a flawless 144 FPS. Thank you! P.S. Free shipping was prompt and great. Would buy again. 1.0 out of 5 stars Useless hdmi By Lee long on July 5, 2016 I sold my car, my 65 inches flate screen tv, and my ps4 to buy this gorgeous hdmi cable. It arrived the next day. I was so excited that I ran so fast into my room to plug it in to my ps4 and to my tv so that I can play my game. Then, I realized that I had sold my Tv and my ps4. So..now this hdmi cable had become useless. I got so mad that is why I gave it one star 4.0 out of 5 stars Platinum Starlight 7, would you marry me? By TheVitruvius on April 15, 2016 Verified Purchase Getting this piece of heaven was the only reason for me to sell my two daughters to the Italian mafia. The gold finish makes me remember how rich I am, and the carbon fiber parts make it weight way less than any other plastic HDMI cable. Also, it makes it look like a Formula 1 equipment. You can watch 5K videos from the Moon and there is not problem with the audio when you are playing Minecraft. This, my friends, is the best you can invest the money in if you win the Powerball. 5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Cable! By Amazon Customer on April 4, 2016 My wife left me and my kids despise me. Regardless, I Iike to spend my retirement money on overpriced bulls*** to fill a void that has slowly been growing inside me ever since my father walked out. I hate myself. Some days is a struggle just to get out of bed. I've tried hanging myself multiple times, but the standard HDMI cables at walmart are simply not sturdy enough. Wow, it really makes you think, we spend our whole lives trying to impress people, but in the end, we sit there in our empty mansions surrounded by $10,500 cables and pictures of family that can't stand us. I just drank bleach. I can see the light. Oh, great service from Amazon by the way, free 3 day shipping is always a huge plus. 10/10
Edit: If you're wondering how someone could possibly afford all this expensive equipment, it's actually really easy. You only need a "wealth amulet".

Well, if you really want to go all out on the best playback system ever, you also need amazing audio, not just video. I recommend we all get these.

What's with all these loser ideas? Today's video cards support 32,768 by 32,768 resolution. Or if you want to limit to hardware decoding - so it can actually be playable, 8,192 by 8,192. I demand nothing less. While we're at it, what's with this bogus 60 FPS? I demand 288 FPS for all our videos. I cannot wait till we do this, it means I can finally invest in a cable which can do 618.5 Gb/s for video. Maybe I can ask the guys who made this if they're up for it.
