That worked, thanks.
BTW, was there any one in particular which worked? Or did you just install all of them?

Gamer Maiden Sonia, you really need to purchase a new sarcasm detector.
I've always understood sarcasm as something you say while thinking the contrary. If what you said before was sarcasm, then you're considering our suggestion of "more visible symbols" instead of rejecting it. But since that doesn't seem to be the case, then that wasn't sarcasm.
When a line is way over the top, with phrases like "king" and "supreme overlord", then it is sarcasm. I'm considering many options, but the simple truth is, I don't have the time to try a dozen different approaches. I threw something together real quick which is easy. When I have time, I'll improve it. I'm reading what everyone says, some suggestions are easier to accomplish or more effective then others (in terms of the programming involved), and that's where my focus will be at the moment. I will also add that "demands", "insults", or "inappropriate language" will only serve to remove any interest I have on improving this.

Damn. I wanted to avoid this. You’re gonna tell me to update. XP and Firefox v15, anyway.
Try installing one or both of these: http://dejavu-fonts.org/wiki/Download http://sourceforge.net/projects/linuxlibertine/files/linuxlibertine/5.3.0/LinLibertineOTF_5.3.0_2012_07_02.tgz/download Let me know if it fixes it. I'll be looking for other solutions, but those can take a while, so hopefully these will work and can tide you over till then. Edit: You can try this too: http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/download/Droid-Sans

Still squares. In these posts in particular, they’re squares with 2 lines of text in them, top row “26” and bottom row “AA”. Edit: A5 on the second square.
What browser and OS are you using?

For those of you who don't know what a Force Refresh is, it's holding down Shift and clicking on the Refresh icon in your browser. You can also try Ctrl+F5.

I think I'm going to assign anyone who dares to question my judgment here with a special insulting gender symbol just for them. You will learn to obey your supreme overlord. For those of you who like seeing other users made fun of, please suggest a character now.

They're small here too. I tested on Chrome, they look pretty big there: The other symbols are square though. Don't know if it's my Chrome that's broken, it's not my default browser anyway.
I changed the CSS earlier today, try force refreshing the page, it should look better for you.

Why not make the Gender option work like the Location option and display beneath the Avatar in text? Personally, I think that would look better.
That's not how Pokémon does it. And how Pokémon does it is very important, as that's how most of our users will have been exposed to these symbols in the first place.

Depends what you mean by bad things. If you mean do I think I will kidnap you and place you in my torture basement, then probably not. If you mean do I think your posts entertain me, then definitely yes.

Since this trainwreck of a thread is all about gender, I guess this post is somehow related.

You can be a girl, sure. Or a woman if you prefer. If you think what you love or that you're a cat is really relavent to every discussion, you can put that info into your avatar, location, or signature.

I'd suggest people who feel they need such a feature and the need to advertise this about themselves as being meaningful to every discussion on this forum to go see a psychiatrist who can provide the proper support they need.

To clarify, I'm saying that if enough people feel something is the correct way to go about interacting with other people, even if they for whatever reason happen to be wrong about it, it's best to acquiesce because it is the majority that should be defining their state of interaction. This is not about any particular notion being right or wrong. Nor is it about my personal opinions on a particular feature, my signature on this matter may be illuminating.

I care more about the fact that you so blatantly stated that my opinion was “wrong” than about getting a feature that would help the forum.
Where did I say your opinion was wrong or that it wouldn't help the forum? I said: "we do have to try our best to integrate with the society around us, even when they're wrong" Edit: Which in context is in fact arguing it would help the forum.
