Okay, I checked it out. In terms of entertainment, you should try to aim to jump into enemies without getting hurt. For example, if a ball/egg is about to fall, jump onto the square, and barely escape with Q*Bert's life. In terms of speed, one would need to make use of discrete mathematics to ensure the routes were optimal. I'm sure some of our crazy math whizzes here would love such a challenge. It's hard to say by just looking at it how optimal the route is.

You can beat the game in a matter of seconds if you press the right buttons :P On a more serious note, I'll take a look.

That's a rather unconventional take on the meaning of lucky. But indeed with all the enemy crazyness in [2024] DOS Commander Keen: Episode 2 - The Earth Explodes by turska in 04:59.78, I would consider that quite lucky as well.

I don't think [2187] GBC Pokémon: Yellow Version "arbitrary code execution" by bortreb in 12:51.87 was anywhere near as good as [2021] GB The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening "playaround" by Bobmario511 in 40:22.78, but I also agree it should be on the list too.
On second thought, rewatching [2187] GBC Pokémon: Yellow Version "arbitrary code execution" by bortreb in 12:51.87, I'm removing my nomination approval for it. Sure it was great showing off how you can inject code like that into the game and make a new game. However, the first couple of minutes were barely watchable, and the payload could've been cleverer. Good for a glitchy movie, but not for what I would consider high ranking entertainment packed TAS of the year material.

Just as 2011, there were so many mighty SNES TASes last year. Too sad only one can win the award.
Maybe we need silver along with gold awards?

MESHUGGAH is indeed a nice choice as well. He did some other hard work too.

hellagels and red-crowned-crane may have only TAS'd one game, but it was a long TAS. mtbRc is of course deserving too.

HappyLee, he may not make a lot of TASs, but he sure keeps us all coming back for more for the original NES game. His mastery of TASing is astounding. I also nominate Randil, nice variety.

Saturn, he made two long and excellent movies. I also concur with Dooty.

I'd nominate BioSpark. He TAS'd a very long game, which also requires a lot of route planning, and precision throughout.

I have to say [2009] Wii Muramasa: The Demon Blade "Momohime" by RachelB in 1:04:59.75. The character is all over the place in fight after fight. Moves so quickly, it's hard to keep up. I also agree with Zeupar's choices.

Please send the award directly to: [2021] GB The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening "playaround" by Bobmario511 in 40:22.78 40 minute movie, yet I was clutching my sides laughing nearly throughout the entirety of it.

Please send the award directly to: [2021] GB The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening "playaround" by Bobmario511 in 40:22.78 We're talking 40 minutes of non stop glitching. Most of it absolutely excellent. It has quality and quantity like no other. Although [2157] NES Battletoads "game end glitch" by MESHUGGAH in 00:56.94 was very impressive too. Skipping the whole game like that? The frame war surrounding it? [2047] SNES Chrono Trigger "save glitch" by turska & inichi in 03:28.06 is also pretty nuts and improves upon a previously award winning movie by a very large margin. Not to mention a double obsoletion.

SDR did two excellent runs. adelikat also got quantity, and got the ball rolling for a bunch of these, so I'll nominate him too.

turska did 6! runs. Most of them were pretty good, so he gets my nomination. Bernka gets my approval too, for two excellent runs with >50 minutes of action.

Hands down bobmario511. He submitted 4 TASs. One of them was also highly innovative. He also obsoleted 3 TASs which were TAS'd several times before, and left little room for improvement.

Please give the award directly to [2021] GB The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening "playaround" by Bobmario511 in 40:22.78. Seriously, greatest play around ever. I could not stop laughing while watching. Also, I know the game inside out, and even helped with some of the planning, and yet I was still utterly stunned watching it. [2091] GB Super Mario Land by MUGG in 12:08.75 was also quite nice.
