It looks like Mario and Castlevania put straight into a blender, taking random elements from each.
I disagree. The music is from Castlevanid. The background are from Castlevania. The enemies are Mario with some Castlevania twists to them. Mario himself is Mario, but moves like Simon. The levels initially look very much Mario, but then look mostly Castlevania but with a Mario feel to them. Lastly, some game elements seem to be stolen straight out of Super Turrican.

Okay, I finally got around to watching this. At first I was very put off by this, because this looked like a Mario game, and the frame rate is way too slow for a Mario game. But after the first level, it looked more like a Castlevania game, and for Castlevania, I thought this was decent. Overall I would accept this game. However, some of the play looked inoptimal. I don't know the game well, but I have the feeling you can improve this run by a good 20 seconds if not more. Therefore, I'm voting meh, for the playing, not the game.

You guys will give a hundred yes votes so enthusiastically to any given Castlevania game but immediately dismiss this as boring? Has anyone here that voted no actually watched a classic Castlevania run on here?
I vote no and give low ratings on all Playstation and Gameboy Advance Castlevania runs. Edit: Forgot that Chronicles was on PSX, so apply what I said to all but that one.

I think we've all done that, even back in the day... Like in Mega Man X, have a friend with a stopwatch, and the rule that you're not allow to go 4 seconds touching the floor (and jumping doesn't count), so you need to mostly travel by sticking to the sides of things.

Games are too soft these days.
The Workbench at the moment even clearly illustrates it. Super Metroid has you running around all confused, Metroid Fusion has you being told exactly where to go, and you don't have much of a choice in the matter. Super Metroid only has 12 energy tanks, Metroid Fusion gives you 20, because you're a weakling and all, and need a major crutch. Not to mention the dozens of power bombs that game has...

I'm going to elaborate on this. Our site rules demand that for a run to be published they should beat all known records. However, that doesn't mean runs have to be perfect. There shouldn't be much that a casual viewer should find as very wrong, but that doesn't imply everything everywhere needs to be frame precise. I also quote the Judge Guidelines:
Judge Guidelines wrote:
While it is expected that the new run should use all tricks and techniques known at the time, it is not uncommon for new time-saving techniques to be found during the later stages of making a run. Ideally, the run should be restarted or edited to allow for inclusion of these new discoveries, however, if restarting will be especially time consuming, exceptions can be made to this rule per judge's discretion.
The attitude in this thread is against our sites aims and completely uncalled for. Such flagrant abuse of civil discussions will not be tolerated. This is the only warning you will be receiving.

The paper was published in the beginning of march, we don't need someone every two weeks bringing it up like it's news.

That looks absolutely insane. Almost every Mega Man lift I recall from any NES Mega Man game seems to be present. There's only one that I can think of off hand that I didn't see. Rush Search from post NES games? Pokémon music? WTH is this?

Ok, for real, I was going to vote yes because i thought that the second reality project and reloaded were the same, Turns out I was wrong so I voted meh.
What does that have to do with the quality of the run? Anyways, they are the same game, Reloaded is just a face lift, better graphics and stuff, same levels though.

I was asked on IRC what I thought, so I might as well mention it here too. <DarkMoon> Do you like the TAS? <Nach> I think parts of it were a bit boring and repetative, but overall, it was a solid run with plenty of good moments <feos> DrNach: Is this submission going to be accepted? I'm doing HD and want to do the rest of encodes too <Nach> feos: I need to see what the feedback is like Personally, I vote yes.

Well, quite a bit actually. Stuff was copied out of Super Mario All-Stars, such as Mouser. There's the Koopa with a bomb on its back from Super Mario Land. The special world is filled with all kinds of enemies that act really different than they normally do.

I like the technique of using the bonus game which is ignored in other TASs, in order to get cape early. TASers think beyond normal... :D Edit: I'm amazed at how quick you did Bowser's Starship. First time I played that level, I didn't have so much of an issue with the difficulty, I just took a moment by each segment to play it carefully. Then I got up to Mouser with barely 30 time units left :(

In continuation of adding on video embedding support for Chinese TASers and TAS fans, we now support embedding video from Tudou on our forums too. This brings the amount of Chinese streaming options we support up to 4.

I used to upload on Baidu, but now I hardly do that. Instead, what about Tudou.com? Many Chinese TASers uses that, too, way more than Baidu and Sina.
Deciphering Tudou was quite grueling, but it's done. Enjoy!
