I really really liked this video, it was quite funny, and entertaining, and the two final fights against Cyber Akuma were great! Two things I did miss though. Ken's Shipuu Jinrai Kyaku is invulnerable from oncoming attacks, even hyper combo's as he's pulling his leg back, it's funny to see someone use say Berserker Barrage X against Ken, nothing happens, and then Wolverine gets clobbered. Chun Li has a midair hyper combo which does a ton of damage (or was that added in Marvel Vs. Capcom?), that isn't largely known.

I liked this run but aside from basically killing the game it was too short and way too glitchy for my taste, i wonder if this works on the (J) version of the game as well if not to make it faster ?
As adelikat already explained above, switching regions is not considered faster by our judges.

I really like your judging decision, Nach. You explained the situation well and gave clear reasons for the double obsoletion.
Why thank you! :) Let me in turn thank you for your feedback in the thread for many movies I've judged as of late.

This sounds absolutely horrible. 10x11x3.5cm? That's huge. I hope you get better. I also hope you have close family and friends that can help you through this.

Works fine on one of my systems. But keep getting this on another:
runtime error: Could not get file contents.
That would only occur if the file could not be read for some reason. Ensure the file is readable, and also, no funny file system business is going on. Perhaps certain language settings can cause an incompatibility. Is the file path ASCII?

This seems perfect for some of the larger encodes my internet would never support for uploading. By any chance, would you perhaps be able to make the interface more user-friendly? I'm not a programmer, and most of the things I see here are quite difficult to understand. :( I'd love to be able to use this, but I only have the roughest idea on what I'm doing. For noobs like me, would you perhaps be able to make it much simpler to follow? You can do so in whatever way you seek fit :) I wouldn't blame you if don't want to, It's a lot of work, I just feel it might be easier for those who don't understand what's going on, what everything does, etc. Thanks :)
I'll make a GUI when I get a chance.

I'm looking for a bit of clarification here before I render my decision. Does the existing NG+ run actually corrupt the SRAM during the course of the run? Or was the corrupted SRAM created for the run and the run just uses it?

Better run this time, but I'm still not crazy over it. I didn't find the hack all that entertaining, the level design didn't seem anything to write home about. One thing about the Contra series is that they try to vary the level style quite a bit across levels. Contra had walking right levels, going up level, going forward levels, along with some interesting enemies and obstacles along the way. Super C and Operation C had the overhead view levels, and more crazy stuff throughout. This game did not take advantage of what Contra has to offer, the levels were all run right with a bit of up or down thrown in, but nothing significant. There is no real variety or design improvements to be found in this. I just saw the run a few minutes ago, and I've already forgotten half of it, it's just that unmemorable. I'm voting no for the choice of game.

I like the idea of Mothrayas and Nahoc becoming judges. Nahoc do you feel comfortable with judging Dolphin runs? One thing I know is that Nahoc is comfortable with Mupen, and N64 runs pile up from time to time as well, so he'd be welcome in that sense too.

Many times I'll see games, like chess games, rejected because they are boring, and-oh-by-the-way TASing does not really blah blah blah the speed etc. To me it is clear that the run is boring, and the fact that chess games can not be improved upon much though TAS tools, is just an afterthought to justify the decision. It is as though, even if the tools were useless, if the game was fun enough, it'd be alright.
Even the most fun of Chess games will most likely be rejected. This site differs from other video sites that most of our runs try to do the impossible. They beat games quicker than is humanly possible. They do things in games that no human in their right mind would ever do. If a run doesn't benefit from slow motion, rewinds and so on - noticeably so, it doesn't really deserve to be on our site. A really fun Chess game is just that, a really fun Chess game. It'd be good material for a Chess centric site. What you may have done to Chessmaster 3000 SNES edition is really irrelevant to what makes the run fun, nor would slow-motion or any of those things noticeable help. Really good players out there can play amazing games in their sleep.

Knowing the Puzzle... is that not the same as heavy RNG manipulation?
No, it's not. If there is an RNG, there are many possible outcomes in a game. If it's just solving a puzzle, there's the optimal method, and there are suboptimal methods, there's nothing of interest presenting surprising and superhuman gameplay. Once you know the solution, you just put it in.

I've been reviewing a lot of the rejected submissions. It seems that some judges, consistently, explain why the run is being rejected in a way I can easily understand, while other judges, consistently, do not explain why in a way I can understand. I've went though all the rejections in 2012 and a quarter of them in 2011 and it appears that the worst of the worst come from a single judge, and only when replying to things submitted between March 31st and April 2nd...
I did most of the rejections for this year's April Fools runs, so you're probably talking about me. If you look at most of my rejections at other times of the year, you'll usually find decent and sometimes quite lengthy rejection explanations. During April Fools, there is such an inflated amount of subpar runs, and most of those runs can easily be seen by watching them that they were not serious TASs, I didn't bother with a thorough explanation. If the run itself doesn't even look liked the author tried, the judge does not have to convey why the run is bad, it's obvious in and of itself. It's only when the issues are a bit more fine than that when the (lengthy) explanations are needed. If after you watch a movie, and you find it's not obvious why it was rejected, and the rejection message doesn't explain the rejection, please post about it here.

We have a published Clue run. Monopoly too.

Well, you're still relatively new here and haven't done anything with tons of exposure yet so probably not. But go around emulation gaming circles and mention names like Bisqwit, adelikat, or myself, and almost everyone will know who you're talking about.

Have any of these people suggested interest in HourGlass or Dolphin TASs?
Do you mean having a submission for these platforms, or just being able to watch runs on them?
Be willing (or even eager!) to watch and judge runs for them.

Derakon: I agree with you that the Commander Keen series is dull, and I played this when I was younger. Many of the old DOS platform games just don't hold a candle to the gameplay of NES platform games. Even then I would much prefer playing an NES or DMG game to Commander Keen or other DOS games. On the other hand, if we were to view the games on their own merit without comparing to other platforms, or compare to other games on their own platform, the Commander Keen games aren't that bad, and actually pretty good, especially Goodbye Galaxy. That, combined with their popularity I think makes them publish worthy here, if the run is reasonably entertaining and well played.

Maybe there is some caching involved? - I loaded the page in Konqi (very slow). Presumably this might have left something cached? - Loading it again just moments ago was quite fast.
Nope, first time I visited TASVideos in Opera on this computer. As I explained, no cache, <3, with cache, <1.

This might be quite interesting. If you do it though, I think you should aim for 100% item collection. The same if you decide to do MM5 as well. What I'd look for in these runs is funny and bizarre things you can do with each weapon.

You can use one of the many eyedropper tools out there, such as this one: http://lifehacker.com/5060542/instant-eyedropper-grabs-any-color-from-your-screen To find out what color something on your screen is.
