I don't see any reason for "fastest crash"-type runs to be worthy of publication. They don't really complete the game. Voting no.

Yeah, it's pointless to publish this. No vote.

Incidentally, PewDieFan24 is not his first account. Other account also was used only once though.

It's most jarring to me that the run mostly looks like it lacks a proper or consistent strategy when dealing with the invaders (such as what Bisqwit showed). There's nothing that looks TASlike about the run. Voting no.

I third this.

That run does look quite nice. But I think it means I should reject this one, in favor of the 'full' run. I don't think there's any reason to publish a partial run when there's a full game version (hack), which also has a TAS made already.

The previous submissions were 2:28.93 and 2:27.47, and on YouTube there's a 2:25.67 run. By contrast, this run is 2:12.50, which is quite a significant difference from all of the above. Does that mean anything towards the technical merit of this run in particular, compared to the other ones? If so, that might warrant publication for this run.

Isn't this exactly what the vault is for? I don't think entertainment factor should have any impact on a vault run. That goes against what the vault is supposed to be for.

The article also says that a rare glitch allows you to advance until you reach the final boss, which due to another bug never appears.
It seems this glitch involves repeatedly resetting the game - the glitch probably occurs due to uninitialized variables in the NES RAM, something that wouldn't be doable in (deterministic) emulators. That said, it seems like a better option to TAS that hack though, rather than this 'partial' run we have here.

Because why settle with 'only' a couple hundred hours when you can also go way beyond? Longer is only better in this case.

Stupid question: If the whole game is an autoscroller, how is this run 20 seconds faster than any other attempt? Boss times don't seem to count for that much.
The bosses do make quite a difference. At least the final boss alone loses several seconds in the fastest real-time run (see earlier in this thread). That boss and the other bosses might possibly count up to 20 seconds difference. There might also be lag differences - I recall there barely being any lag in the TAS. Maybe the real-time run shooting up everything causes lag frames here and there. Not sure about that though.

1) This states it is a pacifist goal, but am I correct in assuming that the pacifist goal does not interfere with aiming for fastest completion time? 2) Auto-scroller games provide little opportunity for optimizing for speed. Should they be accepted to the vault? SDA does not accept speedruns for autoscrollers. Should I amend the vault description to say that a game must provide opportunities to optimize for time? (plus better wording)
1) From the looks of it, pacifist goal does not intefere with fastest completion time. 2) I think autoscrollers should be accepted - at least, for the vault. We're not SDA.

Actually, I think it could get even fuller - maxing out the clock to 9999:59 or however long it lasts. The current "1000 hours" is actually a completely arbitrary end goal.

Let me get this straight. Even for the Vault, this run is still rejected (again) essentially for bad game choice? Isn't this exactly what the Vault is for? Last I checked, Vault runs don't have much of a requirement for entertainment value. Rejecting games for being "too bad for the vault" makes me question the reason of there being a vault in the first place.

Maybe the run could start from SRAM in order to do it on Hard Mode, so that you get Hellfire at the end?
