I know that in Super Ghouls n Ghosts [SNES] demo Arthur can be affected by your key mappings, as in, if you bind the key that the demo uses for attacking to jumping, then the demo jumps every time it was programmed to attack. You can use this to get the demo to kill itself after beating the game, and it breaks the credits (I think it just goes back into normal gameplay). Maybe it's something like that? (Where the demo is using bad data left over from the player playing)

That was impressive! Now I want to see a full game run with minimal A-presses. No matter how long and boring it may be, I would watch it!
I want to see it too! But pannenkoek2012 is finding A press improvements frequently enough (he uploaded a new one today) that it's too early to start one - you wouldn't even want to do a testrun because some minimum A press strats require such insane labours (dozens of clones, etc) that you wouldn't want to do them unless it's going in some kind of final product. :)

My opinion is the opposite. I was watching the Super Mario Sunshine TAS on nicovideo, and while it's a blast, I often found myself thinking 'Wow, how much of this TAS is just watching intros and outros to shines over and over again?' I think the total amount of time is almost half the TAS, which is ridiculous. I mean, you're only cutting out stuff that is identical whether TAS or casual playthrough. Some people have limited free time, but are also interested in TASes, and 'cutsceneless' encodes value your time.

http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/raizing/raizing.htm Kingdom Grandprix is a Raizing shmup, the sequel to Sorcer Striker / Mahou Daisakusen, developed in 1994, set in a 'rule of cool' driven fantasy/sci-fi setting. Notable about this shmup is that while first and foremost it is a shmup, it has a racing mini-game behind it! In addition to surviving and killing bosses, you have to place first among 8 racers across all the stages of the first loop to be allowed to access the second loop and the game's real ending. You bounce off of walls and other racers (and can, for example, ram them into bullets to make them fall back - or be rammed BY them!) and you can 'go faster' by doing things like moving higher on the screen and holding down the fire button to stop firing and boost. It's also a 'large hitbox' shmup, so even TAS can't do effortless dodges. So, end result - This is a shmup where speed makes sense as a goal! (in addition to survival and scoring) (Of course, IMO, score would be very interesting to TAS around for many shmups, but often that requires a really deep understanding to both TAS and appreciate, so speed is a nice goal to have too :) ) A recent episode of STG Weekly did this game, commentating over a 2-loop clear of the game (I think it's just a survival run, but they talk about all the mechanics of the game). The replay of the game starts at this timestamp: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6Da5Lt13xw#t=1h03m00s (I'd embed it but I don't think embedding to a timestamp works on tasvideos.)

I haven't watched it, but I'm just wondering what does "Flawless" mean? Is it a playaround? A speedrun?
'Tool-assisted flawless playthrough' is a channel for TASes that instead of aiming for fastest possible speed, aim for showing off all the game with no 'bad play' mistakes.

The first Sonic Riders has some funny glitches too: Link to video For some reason, the pause buffering makes the game forget to stop you from drifting in air.

Got bored, made this thing: Link to video Pretty cool for an arbitrary category actually. Uses lots of really precise and obscure tricks there's otherwise no use for, and the wolf charge actually sees the light of day for more than 5 seconds for once. Also marks the first use of screen pause deletion in a serious setting. For reference, the WR, as far as I know, is over 45 minutes long, as seen here: http://www.twitch.tv/kayinnasaki/c/3157394
Thank you for this excellent guide! I have forwarded it to a friend of mine in Transylvania so he can practice hard to defeat Dracula. I hope this is OK. He wants to begin training to become a Vampire Killer starting tomorrow.

Before I make any more progress though I want to find an x-speed address to track his speed. Can anyone help me find it?
Of course! Use this guide to find 'higher and lower' position and speed: http://tasvideos.org/MemorySearch.html Because x and y positions (standing on the ground and moving around), you don't know which axis points in which direction, but z (being higher and lower) is always obvious, do things like 'I jumped up, assert my z position is higher' 'I fell, assert my z position is lower' and you will very quickly find z position. Then look at the surrounding memory addresses and you will find x position and y position too! You can try the same with z speed, but z speed 'might not exist' as a memory address, so you may not find it (-> may have to make a LUA script that tracks change in x/y/z between frames and tells you how much it's changed) You may also find that instead of x/y speed you have horizontal speed and angle. It depends on the game. Another trick you can do is trying to find HP memory address. The surrounding memory addresses to HP may also be useful things.

If it's a credits call glitch or level warp glitch, I assume it would be a new category - as busted as the old TAS is, it still 'basically' goes through each level in order.

fruit ninja ... and WR score in flappy bird.
Neither of those games has an ending, so even if they were TASed, runs on them wouldn't be accepted on this site. If you have Windows 8/8.1 and want to play around with TASing Fruit Ninja, you can check out Fruit Ninja for Windows 8 and see if it works in Hourglass.[/quote] Scorerun/playaround/inhuman skill TASes still have merit, even if they can't be published on tasvideos proper.

Yes, some romhacks weren't ever tested on real hardware, and a common byproduct of this is their sound engines being faulty.

Eh... I don't think so. The issue was pretty straighforward: the run depends on emulator issues, so its not possible on a console, so it got rejected. :|
I think it's not so much 'it depends on emulator issues', so much as 'The setup isn't the same as it would be on console, in a way that differs wildly between different versions of the emulator, so the emulator needs to get more accurate first' Masterjun% KSS will be back in the future.
