C'mon, you're not gonna skip THAT cutscene, are you? :D It's after gameplay ends after all. Also, 255 piledrivers on the dot is a nice touch BTW, I'm curious about the frame data for counters. You said earlier that if you land from a piledriver you have two iframes, one vulnerable frame then on the fourth frame you've finished inputting it and are invincible again. But what if you just do a counter (didn't pick up anything)? How many frames are you vulnerable for before you can do another?

I think what we're saying is that the verification movie is not 'play this movie back on this emulator and it will create the save file', but 'start the game, turn on this list of action replay codes from fzerocentral, beat any course, then save and you'll get the same save file as what we used. if you have a problem with the codes used take it up with fzerocentral' because it's the only way.

I think a case can be made for a TAS doing only part of an 'individual levels' mode, then later being expanded to do more of the game (SM64, F-Zero, F-Zero X...)

That's because they are not sprites - they're actually made up of tiles! MSX has a lot of limitiations on using sprites. In the 'pretends to be MSX' version of La-Mulana you'll see a similar trick used on the largest enemies.

For two reasons: 1) If you dupe one gold skulltulla sure you get enough gold skulltullas for the rewards sure, but your gold skulltulla screen on the inventory is not 100% filled out. Also, it doesn't contribute to the goal of 'showing off the game'. Same reason why RBA is banned.
Croc - Legend of the Gobbos: Gobbo duping is not allowed/banned.
Because you can do it infinitely almost anywhere, the gobbos count globally and it's not interesting to do a speedrun where it's allowed. However, in SM64 you can't dupe a star - if you grab a fake clone of it, you BRING the one copy of the star that exists to you, and it can only be done after it spawns, so all you can do with the glitch is cut down travel time. It's not game breaking to allow fake clone stars.

Even with cloning I'm pretty sure you can't pick up two stars on the same frame.

Yes vote, watched it with a friend :D Btw, is 'Fire Alucard' a graphical glitch or what? Btw 2, was RSLing to the elevator to skip slogra and gaibon slower in the end? Btw 3,
I also take advantage of a glitch with the way the rooms are connected - turning around the frame you enter the last door before Karasuman makes you teleport one full room length into the next room (this only works in this spot).
Isn't this the same principle that RSL works on? Btw 4, what did spinning the fairy around do? Also, I rewatched run just now with referring to your notes. They're great, well detailed and help the TAS watching experience a lot. I especially didn't realize how beautiful and interconnected the inverted chapel until ending section was. GJ :)

I think the point is that a movie that was 'no stun glitch' would be the brown platform glitch using movie, because that's faster and isn't banned. So now you have to call it 'no stun glitch, no brown platform glitch' or whatever. And it can only get worse and worse unless you isolate the commonality between them.

The Science of Cloning by pannenkoek2012. Cloning is deterministic and you can plan what you clone when by following some simple rules. Link to video In the comments a TAS/RTA application is suggested - cloning the 8 red coins star (so you don't have to walk over to where it is, you can just release it and get it)

To the author saomoore94: Videos hosted on tasvideos are intended to be as close to frame perfect in every way as the maker knows how to be, and unbeaten/not easily beatable by any other TASes of parts of the game/the full game. If this is not your intent, there are some better places to submit to: http://www.youtube.com/user/EnterPlaymentNet 'tool assisted flawless playthroughs' are intended to go through a game with no mistakes or human errors, but not necessarily TAS style play (TAS only techniques and glitches, major sequence breaks, showing off the game rather than skipping cutscenes, etc) http://www.youtube.com/user/cubex55 Longplays intend to show off all of the game (including intro, cutscenes and credits and no major sequence breaks) with no major mistakes/wastes of time due to failure, by using savestates (or being good enough at the game that one take is all that's needed). Sockfolder found a vector for total control, but it takes about an hour for the jump address to decrement to somewhere in memory that would be useful.

Sockfolder has found a way to use the memory corruption glitch to trick the library card into sending you to the inverted library. (Sorry, I do not have a video.)
