Interesting, they changed their page up. It used to say:
DuckStation is an simulator/emulator of the Sony PlayStation(TM) console, focusing on playability, speed, and long-term maintainability. Accuracy is not the main focus of the emulator, but the goal is to be as accurate as possible while maintaining performance suitable for low-end devices. "Hack" options are discouraged, the default configuration should support all playable games with only some of the enhancements having compatibility issues.
Cause I was just going to come blasting through this door with "so why you bringing up something that isn't aiming for accuracy"? Now instead I get to write; So why you bringing this up when we have our more suitable option mednafen with an emulator that's not mature enough?

Input doesn't end on an all clear, no vote. :V All seriousness, that was a well made TAS brought to the table, makes me wish the other untouched titles are tapped into. - - - - - Claiming for Publications when accepted.

In Oddworld you still get an end point that is relative to a story and not a fail point. And in order to go fast for Oddworld anyways you have to get the bad ending regardless. You'd think you'd get that figured out after the 14th Publication of Oddysee or with the 6 Exoddus Publications. Don't use Oddworld as a point of comparison. In fact. Never use Oddworld as a point of comparison.

I mean if you're here to create blatant misinformation and disinformation then provide the citation of the sites that we should be condemning you on, on these "facts". Is Black Lives Matter anti-Semitic? TL;DR: - Black Lives Matter is more of a diverse movement than a top-down organization, so it’s difficult to flatly state what Black Lives Matter beliefs are. - More than 600 Jewish organizations have declared support for Black Lives Matter. - Some organizations affiliated with Black Lives Matter have expressed anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian sentiments that some Jewish groups view as anti-Semitic. Do you actually have anything to add to the conversation or are you deliberately smearing? 'Cause right now you're smearing shit. - - - - - Also Welcome back, 6 years and you cough up this on your return. A joke of a bump where the topic was done in July.

Sorry, I didn't bother reading anything when I saw this bit while skimming through:

Mothrayas doesn't do emulation development for BizHawk. They're a Site Admin Assistant for TASVideos. Samsara doesn't do emulation development for BizHawk. They're a Judge for TASVideos. Neither do emulation development for BizHawk these days (definitely never for Samsara).

I decided it was a no vote because 4:59 run is good, but there is a speedrun I saw on the website showing that the world record for warps were 4:54. I think your run was 4:55-57.
That's a pretty damning claim when the TAS in RTA timing is still faster than the RTA WR when you time it correctly. The console verification RTA timed is a 4:51. The TAS file itself when RTA timed is a 4:51.44. It's much lower than that compared to the RTA's 4:54.97. (Image provided was adjusted for RTA timing obviously) I mean yeah obviously compare to the possibility there is a level improvement that the RTA might have over the TAS thanks to going Fire Mario... But please back your claim before you make your claim especially in regards to timing. In other news. GBHawk (in 2.5.2) has a visual bug which is lacking the white screen before entering a level, instead it just lags it.

Seems strange to me to allow this but not allow 16 Star SM64 on this site, given the latter’s history as a main speedrun category of one of the biggest games on this site.
Only that if you're reading into the comments we're pointing out "this is good, but we'd rather see warpless instead" that's the majorty. And if you know the history of 16 Star then you would know that it has been obsoleted by 1 star, followed by 0 stars, followed by 1 key on this site. And there was a 16 Star submission that was rejected and has a great reason, which might be used here. Don't want to inject words into a Judge's mouth that you can read up on by clicking this entire sentence.

Evan. "Did you find the movie entertaining?" is what's being asked not "is it optimal?". Also movies ending input early is a pretty normal thing here... what are you on about?

If you want to place Aglar as the author just go to the Player Field in the submission edit and just do LeKukie & Aglar.

I will be voting No based on these viewpoints.
Did you find this movie entertaining? Your viewpoints aren't in correlation to the entertainment factor. Anyways. Hello and welcome to TASVideos Qr1pt1k & Squashh_1. It's quite an interesting goal choice you have right there for NSMBWii. It's basically a mix between warps and warpless since you're avoiding the direct route to World 8, via World 5. It does show great usage of the Penguin powerup in this category which kinda makes me wish to see how dominant it is in warpless. There is also some matching and some improvements you did over Monster's warps TAS from what I saw. Perhaps the two of you can look into updating that run. The category is a novel concept, and personally it just made me want more. Yes vote.

What is the light spike to remove blank frames?
So to put it in understandable terms, this means your input was truncated. "Spiking" became the name of the term cause I was the only one who did it to new submissions to just help the newer authors with the TAS and then others started calling it that. If you compare your input file to the one I provided and scroll to the bottom there'll be a bit of a clearer image.
dagit wrote:
What do you mean by overshot the input?
It's just as it says, your final input ended 10 thousand frames earlier but you just had quite the bit of blank input which was just all credits.
dagit wrote:
I wrote too much on the submission?
No this is perfect, more detail especially for and RPG the better.

As for the BIOS, sorry about that. I thought I did build it against an EU bios but must have made some configuration mistake. I find this part of bizhawk to be confusing.
If you put your bioses into the firmware folder of bizhawk and hit "scan" it'll automatically select the bioses you need to use, if it doesn't find it, it just means one thing. - It's not the recommended bios, so right click and select "info" and just see if yours is listed. -- If it's not listed in that, or the other regions it's not a recommended bios at all. Just be careful of the ones labeled "Proto".
dagit wrote:
I understand if this is too much of an RTA-viability theory TAS. I wasn't sure if those are acceptable publications for tasvideos. Unfortunately, until I learn some new way to use tasstudio I'm unlikely to work on this more. There is some weirdness in the game where moving a menu input, which is most of the inputs in this hour+ tas, changes the minimum delay between inputs. So shifting a menu forward or backward by just a few frames can cause multiple button presses to not be recognized. This cascades to every menu that happens after it in the tas. Finding a new minimum delays between these is very time consuming. This definitely feels like the sort of thing that could hypothetically be automated a bit with scripting specific to this game, but I can't figure out how to do that in tasstudio.
That's what the forums are for. Unfortunately there isn't an (SMS) Ultima IV section in the area it should be in but you can always make a new topic and start there by providing information. And as you mentioned, practice makes perfect. Learning the tools will be a benefit for you and you'll be hopefully able to do more down the line. Just get used to the tools, or reach out by asking questions to the IRC or Discord and hopefully will be able to help. And also use your userfiles to store progress or scripts on what you're working on.

Author kinda overshot the input a bit, found their encode and placed it on the submission text. Light Spike to remove the 10 thousand blank frames. Don't worry about resubmitting, the Judge can replace the file around. --- Unfortunately the biggest issue to this TAS besides the admission that this is more of a theory TAS, which I'll congratulate you on... is the BIOS that was used. Unfortunately (SHA-1) 3AF7B66248D34EB26DA40C92BF2FA4C73A46A051 is a built in BIOS for Alex Kidd in Miracle World and not the actual SMS bios (also a Korean BIOS). BizHawk would specifically like the (SHA-1) C315672807D8DDB8D91443729405C766DD95CAE7 BIOS, v1.3 (SMS, US/EU). The other two bioses that EU/US would like are both Prototype bioses, and doesn't change which main bios you need to have. I look forward to an updated run that takes a little more time in manipulation and work.

Disk Loads. PS2 on Fast Disk vs a PS1. I mean kinda can't save the TAS cause started from sram, but still the answer.

I think I get the second attempt at submitting this, but the Judge's comments came from this year and clearly outlines why it was rejected. I think honestly this was more suited to being a user movie instead of a submission... but I won't downplay your determination for a second attempt.

I've omitted some information. Some of the save is from the result screen and getting a better dialogue. However, doing this also requires readjusting some of the bombs and the input associated with it. Basically micro-adjustments. If I knew what I've done with my reference file for older Hawk I would share it proving it. Edit: Found it. This is where the statement of an improvement comes from. Created in 2.2.2 being able to sync as far back (to my knowledge to 1.11.6) and as far forward as 2.4. This is the actual improvement before being resync'd into 2.5.2.

I'm pretty sure there's a topic somewhere already about compression and PlayStation. The short answer is no, the long answer is in that thread somewhere.

Well for N64 games it's playing at 320x240. For DS games it's use melonDS instead, I mean after all Hawk's DS emulation isn't acceptable since it's basically been left there.
