I need to improve it
So are you working on a new version? Should I cancel this one meanwhile or do you plan to update it?

I don't think those clips work at all in GBA? Not too familiar with the GBA version... X-sub: 03003F28 X-pos: 03003F29 Y-sub: 03003F2C Y-pos: 03003F2D X-speed: 03003F4 What's interesting is that the Y-sub is always reset back to 0 when you land, which it doesn't in NES/SNES. And both values are reset after each level, which they aren't in the other versions either.

If you plan on improving it, be sure to time all hits when you kill enemies/bosses. As right now you are just using turbo which leads to not all hits being optimal as well as a couple of missed hits which doesn't look good. You can try to use the RAM Watch/Search, unless you aren't already, to see when you are able to hurt a boss and so on. In some narrow spots, like just before the final fight, you could have timed a jump to wall down rather to walk straight forward, which will end you up pushing against the wall.

Because Mupen is terrible when it comes to syncing the video in many cases. So they split it up to avoid this. At least that is one of the reason.

I'll get on the TAS of this soon enough, no worries ;). *Unless someone does it before which seems to be the case atm* I'm just going to beat it normally first!

Now when I look at the emulator file, I notice a lot more things... Turbo was used on the map screen for movign and entering levels, losing a lot of time. Left+Right was sometimes randomly released, no corner boosts, hitting the end cards late, bad HB RNG... I just did a rough test that beats the first level 19 frames earlier, 5 of which were before the level started. I used 9X 1.51 for this test, but it's accurate compared to Bizhawk so far: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/101151414/SMB3%20Test.smv There's is quite a bit to improve upon in the run afterall. Please share your videos so we can give you some feedback on it =). As for 1ups: The way I did it in the 100% TAS was just to throw the shell, flip it and land on it at the same time, repeat. You can also check Genisto's glitchfest TAS of this SNES version, as he does a lot of this as well.

There are a lot of unoptimal parts in the run... The first koopakid is even faster in real time runs. And some thing like the block clip in 2-5 is just a waste of time for no reason. Voting no for that and I stopped watching after 2-5.

They may do whatever they want with it. I'll be interested in the final result anyway =). Though I would to see a non-spliced version of the run, such as providing the input file. Considering the any% run was never provided and the youtube video was spliced together, which is slightly suspicious to me to be honest.

Yeah, that's another reason to it.

Likely the same reason why they didn't submit the any% run: Not optimised enough for TASvideos' standards.

I haven't done any actual comparisions, no, especially not for 1.53. I'm going to wrote my details soon, I just need to finish up some stuff in live and get back some motivation for things.

I'm part of both TASVideos' community, as well as the speedrunning communities. While I highly enjoy to watch practically all categories, for both TASes and real time, of Super Metroid, having them all to be published on TASVideos is a bit unneccesary. Take Ocarina of Time as an example. I have been following its progress the past 11 years and is one of my favorite game to watch runs of. It has LOOOOOADS of categories. See a list here which includes most of them: http://bombch.us/BDfW They are interesting to have and enjoyable to watch. But many of them are just "for fun" categories and some aren't really taken serious by the community either. Some are just very arbitary, but a portion of the community enjoys running it and want it to be kept, even though new discoveries made them obsolete. TASVideos want to track the "more serious" categories, with rules that make sense. Clugging it up with the 22 "beat-the-game" categories of OoT will just be confusing and weird. Even though each and every one of them could be an interesting watch. I see 100% Map as a "for fun" category, just like "Spore Spawn%". As none of these will practically never be in a run otherwise. But that isn't enough of a reason to publish it.

I never had a finished route for the whole run. Because of the many new glitches found, I didn't even decide on what rules that would make the most sense to use for the TAS. The rules will be a modification of the current published TAS at least. Though still banning the Exploration Glitch. But there are many glitches that act in similar ways, practically identical, that I never could decide what to do with... And pretty much because of that, new finished route was made. We, Yuzuhara and I, came up with several suggestions for the beginning. One route that beats Eastern Palace before getting the sword, the last WIP can be seen on the previous page, and one that starts with going through the sewers and then head to Hera's Tower + a few variations afterwards for both of them. I could fill you in with more info and WIPs if you want.

A suggestion for the Aliens: Have them all be one frame from entering the barn at the end. Quite nice so far =).

I obviously used the settings/versions mentioned, yes... Anyway, seems like I got it to sync on my laptop. I have no idea why though, as all settings should have been the same.

I have been trying to get this run to sync for awhile now. Used various settings and emulators without success... The desync happens around the 50K mark, can't remember exactly where atm. Any "backup"-settings that work?

Ok, if you don't plan on submitting an improved version, I will reject this run.

Back in the days, Nintendo claimed this would take 100 hours to complete. Where are the remaining 99 hours 56 minutes and 25 seconds? Yees.

So Nintendo recently uploaded their E3 promotion video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbvzyY1FKr0 At 1:22 they used footage from Donkey Kong Country. It featured a glitch where you make a slide-slap with Donkey Kong. This looked suspicious so I looked into it. That part is taken from the old 101% TAS!!! https://youtu.be/8agz-TTwV14?t=2200 Just lol. Edit: Spread it! https://twitter.com/Spikestuff/status/599109303610408960

Here is one explanation: http://pastebin.com/FqqFQLvA Just note that some of that info is outdated, because I'm lazy to update it further.

Oh, why did I say 8-4 before? I actually meant 7-3**, sorry. But yeah, grab the first vine, left+right and then jump into the pipe. A rough test I did saved 63 frames.
