I'd like to see more PAL runs accepted, especially if they do demonstrate new things (Yes, this will include Saturn's recent rejected Super Metroid run, as was brought up earlier), under Tub's idea as well. I argue that it might give a new series of TASers encouragement to compete for the PAL records, since the NTSC records of popular games (Mario, Sonic, Megaman, etc) are often too fierce. There may also be new challenges that PAL versions provide that NTSC versions may not, but they have virtually not been explored yet. Of course, in many cases there is no real difference between PAL and NTSC other than the time.

Voting yes, but not to obsolete the NTSC run, but as a seperate new category.

I'm trying to make an encode of an older run that uses an earlier version of Gens. It says that the movie requires TEST6, and both Gens 10 and 11 uses TEST9. Which version of Gens should I use to make sure it syncs correctly?

If you watched the speedrun at all you would see that I am well aware of this. Anyway, on topic, I am playing this game again and still want to eventually TAS it. Correcting myself, I reached save after Evice at 4:53. This gives me an any% estimate of 4:30ish real-time. TAS should follow the real-time route with a good deal more solo battles on Feraligatr, since critical hits should be relatively easy to generate. Solo gatr can use Mystic Water or some other item, where as with a partner she is often forced to use Exp Share. Helping Hand does add a significant boost to gatr's attacks, but it will be a balance between the reduced animations of soloing and the raw damage output of HH-boosted attacks, which may be necessary against some opponents (Ein 1's Lanturn perhaps, not easy to deal with due to the lack of EQ). On reflection it might be viable to collect the 3 Revive box behind the Lab fence, and revive Espeon when he is needed for a tough admin. Gyarados can be tricky to deal with due to lack of electric, so Hidden Power Electric might be viable at some points, Hydro Pump (its only viable competitor for this moveslot) is infinitely more useful. Blizzard, Surf, Earthquake are necessities for gatr, and the early Bite and Slash also have their uses. Rain Dance is a huge time waste.

Reviving this for a good reason, I have been working with Cerpin lately who is knowledgeable about the tweaking glitch, which it turns out can be performed in limited form without the bike (needs Running Shoes). After the bike however, it is possible to tweak straight to the Hall of Fame, but it requires 2 hours to reach after tweaking. This may turn out to be slower than UD's Abra route, but Cerpin is convinced there are nearer HOF locations, he just has to find them. As for a glitchless run I might take up the challenge myself after finishing B.O.B.

if/until the requirements are agreed upon for 100% completion this is pointless to do. I have a partial fcm of 1st quest that i made for fun but i didnt plan on getting the bomb upgrades. only full inventory screen and magical all.
Hm yes this would require a lot of planning, especially around buyable items with the 255 rupee limit. Formalising the 100% definition obviously comes first (do you include all maps/compasses, bomb upgrades etc), planning the rupee collection will be the biggest headache imo. Still it will be awesome once it is done.

You are watching the TV one day, when suddenly the sounds of fairground music can be heard - a sparkling rendition of the Colonel Bogey March. A wooden door is seen, standing in a field. The door opens and reveals a small stage, and the announcer speaks in an English accent "And now, Monkeys Dressed as Famous People". One at a time, three monkeys walk onto the stage, each one dressed up as a famous person from any walk of life. They stand on the stage, look at the camera for a few seconds, the name of the famous person they are impersonating is announced, then they leave allowing the next monkey to take the stage. 30 seconds later, the show ends. Rules! It is a simple enough game, combining imagination with the amusement of monkeys. To get the maximum effect: 1: Start this music - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ok1MKpv2SO0 (listen from 1:50) 2: Give a few seconds for the atmosphere to settle. 3: Read each name of the famous person aloud, and give yourself a few seconds to imagine a monkey dressed like them 4: Each show contains only 3 monkeys For the first show of "Monkeys Dressed as Famous People": Margaret Thatcher . . . . . Condoleeza Rice . . . . . Hannah Montana

The comparisons are indeed from the rejected run from last year, it would be a bit trickier to compare to the SNES run, so I've no idea how much faster I'd be (and it uses different goals anyway, I'm not going for no damage since its damn slow that way) As for stage 5, there was a longer way through that level (rather than falling down in the middle, continue right until the end then head through a small maze). You can pick up some Lightning shot here for the first time, which would save a few frames on the second boss, but it is much quicker to take the earlier path. Inevitably the rejected run did take the Lightning shot route.

For some reason I always enjoyed this game, clunky movement aside. I'm glad to hear you're working on it, and I wish you luck! Why pick the Genesis version, though?
Two main reasons: a) it is faster than the SNES version b) graphically better looking than SNES version That and it is the version I owned when I was a kid. Yes I actually had this game.

As some of you may know, I've been working on obsoleting the old B.O.B. submissions. There was a genesis version that was rejected last year, and I am using this as the basis of the new version. So far I am 7 levels in, and over 38 seconds ahead, which shows how unoptimised the previous version was. However, with over 50 stages, it isnt a short game. Once I get my home internet access back (should be any time after 3rd June), I can upload some of the notes and current WIP, including a level-by-level frame comparison. Each of the currently completed levels I've managed so far have been improved by as little as 62 frames and as many as 834, but there is still a long way to go. I'm hoping for sub-50 minutes for the whole TAS, but I'll push this as far as it can go. One of the tricks I have found so far is the use of the helicopter remo over grabbing the overhead poles. Using the poles means you move slower than the helicopter, but there are still situations where using the poles are overall faster due to acceleration and so on. I lost 2 frames by picking up helis in the first stage, but immediately saved 6 in that same stage alone with this trick, and it is used in other levels too. So yeah, once I'm back online properly expect a significant update.

Picking Cloud over the girls is at least a minute faster, Tifa/Aeris selected means you go through a few battles whereas Cloud selected experiences none. BTW, why didnt you pick up the Hyper behind Don Corneo's bed?
