I looked at the page of your WIP, and assuming the time is half of the actual time based on your encodes, it's 1:08:45.10 by the time you end your WIP. I haven't watched the run on SDA for a while, but given that it's 1:50:53 long, and you only have like 4 chapters left, that's a huge improvement! Nice work!
The record is 1:29:48 on the PS3 version with newgame+, but for newgame idk the record. I don't trust SDA with keeping the best times, cause they still have my very shitty run on there that is 20 minutes slower than the actual record, haha. I'm hoping that I can get about 1:37:xx, but unfortunately most of the time saved is purely from loading differences.
For runs to be hosted on SDA the runner (or someone the runner has given permission) has to submit it, if the holders of the faster times don't submit their runs there is no chance for SDA to host them.

nitsuja disappeared last year, but I have seen people saying that he did promise to come back. We just have to be patient and wait, whatever reason he had to disappear it was surely a good one. I have tried to improve Hourglass a bit for fun but the code is a nightmare to work with and I don't have the same knowledge about this stuff as nitsuja does so it is a very exhausting and slow process. I might manage to figure out how to add mouse-recording at some point but I will not promise anything.

What would the ruling be if someone wanted to TAS a super mario world romhack that crashed in bizhawk/lsnes due to a physically impossible echo buffer size that snes9x allows?
(H)alf of the hacks they provide do not run on an actual SNES, let alone on accurate emulators. This is because of a flawed tool known as addmusic. It was designed to allow hackers to insert new music tracks, but it was developed with and tested against an inaccurate emulator. One that cheated when it came to DSP sound emulation. The echo effect of the SNES DSP works by writing previous results into RAM, in order to mix with them later. This addmusic tool did not know this, because the emulator did not do this. As a result, impossible values were used for echo buffer sizes, which on real hardware and accurate emulators, results in all of the APU's RAM (and thus, program code and samples), being overwritten—crashing the game.
I have brought up this issue a few times when there has been a SNES game hack submitted that has come under questioning due to the SNES9x deprecation but I have not seen any acknowledgement that my posts have been taken into consideration even though they were most likely read. In the case of hacks that are not designed to be run on the original console, and will then not work in BizHawk or lsnes, I think that we must allow them to be TASed on SNES9x if they are considered worthy entertainment-wise.

The VVVVVV TAS uses the stand-alone version. Steam games cannot be TASed because Hourglass isn't hooking the Steam API, the Steam SDK would be needed for starters, and then it also has to be figured out how to fake the server connections. And as a bonus I think Valve/Steam are going to get really upset if there is a program out there that can fake their servers.

This must be what happens when game developers eats Mario's mushrooms. This really is so bad that it's outright hilarious. I vote yes.

So you mean accuracy does not matter at all for Moon/Stars movies which are also (mainly) speedruns, just of games that provide a higher level of entertainment?

Verify that you have the keyboard keys mapped to the controller buttons in the settings.

Ok, after some consulting with some friends of mine that implemented Minidumping as debugging-methods for their programs I have now done a real hackjob in an attempt to get a Minidump for each Exception the game throws while enslaved under Hourglass. Note that this is not how minidumps shall be used so it is not certain that this will work. I HOPE this will create some useful Minidumps that can tell me what DLL that Super Hexagon fails to load: http://filecloud.io/lhr0g18e Please back up your system before running this build! As a result of this hackjob I am leaving certain data-structures incomplete, I have no idea what this might do to your Windows installation (it should be harmless but ... ), none of my friends have ever attempted to pass incomplete data-structures to the Minidumping functions, and there aren't any info on Google to what might happen if you do. Unless Hourglass implodes the minidumps shall be findable in the same directory as the game executable, they will be called hourglassmdumpX.dmp where X is a number. If any minidumps are generated, please put them all in an archive and send them to me via PM. VERY IMPORTANT: DO NOT TAS WITH THIS BUILD! It was made solely with the hope to find out why Super Hexagon fails! Any movie recorded with this build must be thought of as trash as it's content is not reliable! If this build fails we will have to wait for Nitsuja to come back and help you debug this.

You probably shouldn't be converting at all. mkv, avi, and mp4 are containers, you can usually just repack the streams from one to the other. mkvextract to pull them out, mp4box to pack them in.
It should however be noted that all codecs MKV and AVI can contain should not be repacked into an MP4.
Why would that be a bad idea?
I've seen various media players (not VLC, because they seem to accept every hackjob there is) freak out from an XviD video stream in an MP4 container for example, one of the media players was Media Player Classic (happened early last year). Might be patched up now though.

Just looked at reviews of this game and they average at about 4/4.5 out of 10 lol. But glad to hear you're interested! However, I'm having a lot of desynce issues with Mupen. The desynces usually occur after I replay the movie, sadly. If anyone can help me with that, I'd really appreciate it!
That's just Mupen being Mupen sadly. All you can do is redo those segments until they sync on playback. (By that I mean change timing of your actions, trying a slightly different angle etc)

Just looked at some game play of this, and it's possible that a TAS of this will be really entertaining. Definitely looking forward to WIPs.

Quite an impressive improvement, sadly it removed a lot of the entertainment from this game as those fights and areas are skipped now. Very well done on the improvement though. Gonna have to vote Meh on entertainment.

Finally had the time to watch this. Very good work Odongdong, it looked really well planned and executed. Sadly the game lacks a little in the entertainment department, so I will only vote Meh.

Currently half-way through the last part of the series and I can vouch for the books being really good. I especially like the more mature language choice and the graphic descriptions of things, it makes the books stand out from other titles that I have read in this genre. You should really have the books translated to English!

Yes. Super Hexagon works within my VM. Which is where I was testing this out.
That means Hourglass is preventing the game from loading a dll. The big problem here seems to be that there is no way to access the part of the information that contains which DLL that causes the problem. I'm going to have to ask around and see what I can come up with, or we have to wait for nitsuja to come back.

A good start is to look at the System properties. Which you find by opening the Control Panel, and then choosing System. Type what it says under Processor and Memory, or if you're using Windows XP, write what it says under Computer on the General tab. Also, is it a stationary PC (tower) or a laptop?

Post your computer specs at least or it will be impossible for us to be able to give ideas to why it's running so slow for you.

Mothrayas: Damn you for not playing along, now I cannot tell you that you got crushed under the Rock of Gibraltar. (My posts in this thread were inspired by The Ducksters)

Jack's a good friend of mine. I just borrowed it from him for a couple days.
The rules does not allow that so now you have to pay the penalty. In my hand I hold 2 buzzers, you must press one of them. EDIT: Wait, you are absolutely in the right. Forgive me for my ignorance. No, this post is most definitely not hijacked.

Sorry that I didn't have time to look at your last WIPs. I will watch this as soon as I can.

I wonder if we reached the peak of how broken this game can get. Yes vote.
