Wow...interesting hack. Well, I love the fact that Simba decides to grow up during the climb at 1:53. "Uh...not strong enough...gotta get bigger...bigger!!!" Anyway, this looks really optimized and I love the clipping. Great job EZ! yes vote.

Ok...I have to say that your abilities for TASing are getting better. I'm still reluctant to call this TAS super optimized, since the rerecord count is still low agianst the length of your movie. Some questions: 1. This game doesn't seem to be heavy on lag, but I'm certain that lag does exist. Was there an effort to eliminate as much lag as possible? 2. Bonus rounds: I normally see games where skipping segments for points is necessary to save time. I take it that the bonus rounds cannot be skipped by either take a death or missing a certain amount of shots? However, I did laugh a few times in some places. The speed at which people died in the bonus rounds was particularly humorous to me. Additionally, the interaction of two players during down time was a tiny bit creative and kept me watching. Yes vote.

jmosx36 ... I've shared your frustration in the past, thinking that cuts aren't possible. I'm sorry to point out, but with 1275 re-records and amount of time for this length movie, it doesn't seem that enough effort was placed into experimentation. With many games, there are a large number of methods to choose from on how to manipulate RNG. I know off one particular game where 1 in 16 frames showed a positive effect to my inputs. It just may require more time to find out how to beat those WR segments. Normally, to find cuts that blow away WR times, it takes months and years. So don't be discouraged; however, try to spend an extra amount of time. There is nothing more satisfying than finding those hidden frames. Abstaining from voting.

I'm in the opinion that if a game repeats and no level of difficultly occurs, then this is a complete run. In fact, I believe that Vault was brought in to the mix so that situations like this can be addressed. On a side note, my favorite systems were the Commodore computers (64 and Vic-20) and the Colecovision. Most of the games didn't play in the same fashion as we have today, where an ending is clearly identified. Sadly, I never purchased DK as a child. But, I'm voting yes for creativity in RNG manipulation to produce what seems to be an unbeatable time. Edit: I was also surprised to see a conveyor belt level for the C-64. I remember seeing something like that, but wasn't sure what system it came from. I wonder if I saw it on the version that Adam released.

Man, this version almost reminds me of a Commodore Vic-20. With that long load, it makes me thing you were loading the game on tape. LOL And I have to agree with EZ...why are they making a big show of Mario's booty definition?

Great job man. EZ and i were looking into this game, but we had issues because we tried the Adam version. Well anyway, love the screen skip you found on the first level. We had found some faster things, but it seems you found all PLUS 1. Yes vote for being fast and surprising us with an unknown trick. :)

I smiled through this entire TAS. :) It was very well done. I had thought that maybe the rerecord count was too low, but getting the ball in within one or two tries (Not counting the drop ball penalty), was enough for me to say that this is highly optimized. Yes vote.

An update regarding a faster input file provided: The improvement I found is 123 frames faster. The improvement came from finding another "Free Krusty" at the end of Area 3. Reorganizing the use of them, I found that an extra death can be applied to the 3rd visited room of Area 3. I discovered this mistake after reviewing Iceplug's WR again and saw the extra Krusty...which I thought that I had ruled out. His version is 1.0, while mine is 1.1...so i thought that i didn't have one there.

Nach, I noticed a mistake, after reviewing the WR run by Iceplug. I thought that I had cleared this problem away, but I'm fixing it now. It should shave off about 1 1/2 seconds. I'll have an updated input file soon.

Yes vote, although I feel at ~55:20 it'd be faster to deliberately release some rats on the roof, so they can start marching towards the left hand area and simply retrap/release them later. I feel this would be faster than making 5 full trips there and back to do each trapped rat.
Hi Flip. I went back and took a look at what you were referring to. I thought originally that you were referring to the area that exists in the time of 59:00. If you were intending that...it was absolute chaos to organize the rats for left movement towards a pipe (which sent them direction to the chamber) and I eventually gave up after succeeding, but with a slower time. However!, you are referring to the room where 5 jars are sitting on top of the death chamber section. You and I think alike. There are a number of problems I can think of...so hopefully one of them addresses your concern: 1. Re-trapping rats can't be done, since breaking a jar ends the life of a jar and it can't be recreated. 2. Building a stairway of jars can't be done close to the chamber, because the fence prohibits the laying down of a jar 3 blocks up. 3. Building a stairway to the right of the fence takes too long to build and the rats will have to cycle around again. 4. Building either stairway mentioned in 2 or 3, takes 5 jars and the same situation occurs as normal play where the rats have to be taken all the way to the fan. My idea for this room, was to make sure I'm moving constantly without delay of picking up a jar. This is the reason for the odd position of laying jars. This also allowed them to walk over as close to the jars so that I didn't have to chase them down. Do any of the scenarios cover your question?

Man, I forgot how ugly Cabbage Patch kids were. LOL Nice fast movement, but I can't see the Pogo Stick. Kappa I especially like the 'playaround' during the waiting phases. You remind me of what I used to do in Super Metroid when I would set a Samus on a 30Hz display during iframes to make the pose stay in a specific animation. Yes vote.

Yes vote from me. This is very well done, but I hope that it is appreciated as much of the 'action' necessarily happens off screen so as to time the exit to match the clear screen. And, because you have to set up everything so you're not going to stick around to see the results.
Thanks electricslide. This was so much fun that I hate that its over. I'm glad that you noticed the lack of waiting this time. The old TAS certainly had enough of it that needed to be removed, although I never knew it at the time.

Once again, nice run. Very optimized...from what I can tell, the "slow spots" were carefully observed and handled well to get through more rapidly. My favorite trick though, is the conveyor speed stacking. Nice find. Yes vote to the dynamic duo.
