A Let's Play of Super Metroid which got me interested into the game itself. Being interested in speedruns in general, I looked at a few and eventually ended up here, I guess.

On the whole, I think this is exciting enough to be published.

Wow, that glitchathon was damn impressive. There was a playaround before, but it was rejected for not being different enough from the 96-exit run, a problem you guys certainly don't seem to have. My favorite bits would have to be when Mario became posessed by the devil in Yoshi's Island 3

Goodie, more drama on this site! Because that's exactly what tasvideos is all about! In all seriousness, while this might sound smug and arrogant, if someone proclaims various theses, in this case, Bisqwit's signature, but does not have the arguments to back those up, I'd say you can safely ignore them without getting offended. But that's just me, I don't personally think it's worth getting worked up other such things.

Part of me thinks that forcing a specific vote to be tied to a specific post might be a good idea. A post must be made to vote, and the vote must be tied to the post. It probably isn't trivial with the forum software, though...
Might not be a bad Idea, although usually many posts consist of nothing more than "Awesome, voting yes!" and do not need any more explanation. It is different with "meh" and "no" votes though, but it feels kind of odd enforcing an explanation on those, but not doing so for "yes". It'd be almost like the site doesn't want you to vote anything but yes. Perhaps such an explanation rule can be imposed on someone who has repeatedly been troll voting.

For the topic at hands, voting "no" as protest amounts to little more as a troll vote in my eyes and should be treated as such. That being said, mz stood up for his vote and, while I cannot agree with his arguments, posted a legit point of view on the situation. Insane Troll Logic, if you will, but logic nonetheless. Still, it is an improvement to a published run using no illegal means, so I don't see why it shouldn't be published. I don't think many people see a major entertainment loss in there, either, so a publication in another category isn't neccesary either. Ultimately, those three or so "No" votes will hardly affect the publication of the movie so I don't even think it's worth raising such a huge fuss about them to begin with. P.S. I don't want to pick up on Earthbound again, but this is all I want to touch on: "it makes "god-like" playing accessible to the unassisted player" ...what?

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1765833134/scimrpehcv4.smv First three levels completed. If there's any big improvement I missed, let me know. So far, the cross proved useful enough, though I question wether it will be really worth it in the later levels. /i actually just noticed I missed a smal ltrick in the Waterfall section, bah

You talk about all TASes having degraded into an incomprehensible mess that shows hardly anything of the game. And to be honest, I often prefer warpless Castlevania runs over the glitched ones where they play 5 minutes into the game and then just say "screw it" and warp straight to the end. Still, there is room for both in this world. If anything, this should be an incentive to improve the 120 star run because this shows off more of the game.

Oh my, bring on the Drama. Seriously though, it's an improvement to a published run. That's all I need to see this published. Sure, you can argue about lost entertainment or something like that or new tricks making the run too different from the previous one (Earthbound, anyone?), but this hardly is the case with this run. The game in itself is pretty interesting to me. Graphically it's well on par with Super Mario World though in terms of sound... well. That being said, I don't see why the run shouldn't be published.

From everything I could tell, not being familiar with the game, this looked pretty well done. There were a few minor things I've noticed, but those likely are the game's fault.

An encode would be great. Aside from that, this seems very interesting, being a Mario game and everything.

Voting no due to lack of optimization and apparently using a hack.

I don't know wether there is. There ought to be though, so if you keep searching, you might just find it. Such a movie would likely not be accepted though, since it merely adds pointless repetition to the movie with nothing else. Why would you even want such a movie to begin with?
