This is the much-anticipated tool-assisted speedrun of the ninth installment in the Final Fantasy series, and the last in the series to be made for the PSX. With its many references to the older games, it's a trip down memory lane for those familiar with the series.

For more details on the low completion time and the extensive route planning put into this run, we recommend reading the author's comments as well as the author's commentary outlining the run.

Although it appears slower than the previous movie by almost 30 minutes, this is due mostly to longer loading times, the result of using a more accurate emulator. The author improves on their previous movie by roughly 10 minutes, when emulation differences are accounted for, thanks to newer tricks and optimizations.

The second YouTube link leads to a playlist of the TAS which is segmented to the game's respective disks.

Please read the welcome page if you haven't already done so. It explains the rules and methods that apply to all of these movies, particularly the use of savestates and frame advance. Also refer to our Glossary to understand terms we use, such as TAS or other unfamiliar terms.

Webmasters, please don't link directly to the files. Link to this page or the front page instead.
