Here is what you need to encode in high definition.
- A powerful computer.
- A YouTube account.
- A Dailymotion MotionMaker account is optional, but if you want to upload in HD somewhere else, that's the place.
- An image editing software to create a logo, or any video making software to create an animated logo.
- The CamStudio Lossless codec, to dump the movie.
- AviSynth, to put the logo and the movie together and to apply filters.
- VirtualDub, to test the AviSynth script and to extract the movie's audio.
- x264, the site's standard software to encode the video. It works for both SD and HD encoding. The latest 32-bit build, no matter the number of bits you computer have, should do the job.
- FLAC, the software you will use to encode the audio.
- mkvmerge from mkvtoolnix, to mux the video track and the audio track to an MKV file.
Once you got all that, you should place x264, flac and mkvmerge in the same folder. That's where the encoding process will happen.
