This was a strategy developed by me (adelikat) in 2005 to achieve the then world record of 43.97. It is a fairly random strat but is very doable in real time with enough patience. It was the first strat to achieve a sub 45 without the use of the random star punches that are demonstrated in the published TAS.

While this strategy is possible in real time this movie is Tool-assisted and represents a frame perfect version of this strategy. It achieves a 43.82 time.

Similar to my sub 44 strat: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nD_XQE... Except it utilizes 1 random star punch. This makes it a far more unlikely strategy but still doable with enough patience. It demonstrates a feasible strat for going sub 43 on Piston 1 in real time.

This strategy depends on 9 "Random jabs". All of these jabs have about a 1/32 chance of success. Thus, this strategy is unlikely to ever be reproduced unassisted.

Energy Refill
The odds of getting the 48 Phase 3 refill instead of the usual 56 is precisely a 6/16 chance. It depends on the ending digit of the RNG (0x0018). If the digit is 3,4,5,B,C, or D, it will be a low energy refill; otherwise it is the high refill.
