Tool-assisted game movies
When human skills are just not enough

Kyman

Introduction

Hello fellow TASers, I'm Kyman. I love making tool-assisted speedruns, that's why I'm a part of this lovely website. I'm from Ontario, in Canada. Also, I'm 14, making me one of the youngest TASers to have published content on the site. I first learned about TASing by watching an obscure Super Mario 64 TAS on YouTube (no it wasn't spezzafer's famous 16 star TAS). Then I found TASVideos shortly after around 2007 back when I was 10-11. I started making very bad SM64 TASes on YouTube. After a while, I slowly started to get better. I then came out from lurking the forums and joined in 2008. At the time, I made some very stupid posts, and it's good thing nobody (hopefully) noticed. Over time though, I have become a better TASer, and more importantly, a better person. To this day, I have many published movies on this website. :)

Bobby's World is a platformer for the SNES inspired by the TV show of the same name.

The author exploits a throwing glitch, and manages to complete the game in just over 10 minutes.

This was my second published run on TASvideos, of a not very well known game. I decided to do this game when I stumbled upon it and noticed it could be a good game choice. I am proud of this run, although it might not be very entertaining, I put a lot of effort into the optimization of it, and I think it shows. I currently do not know of any improvements to it, but I wouldn't be too surprised if someone found a few frames.

Digger T. Rock is searching for the Lost City and must dig through eight caverns to find it. On the way he must battle... dinosaurs!

This run underwent several revisions before reaching the form you now see before you.

This was my third published run on TASvideos, and my second team run. I improved my previous submission by a lot of time due to new ideas and tricks discovered by me and SilentSlayers. I feel great about this one, as we put a lot of effort into it, and I also had a lot of fun working with SilentSlayers.

Tiny Toon Adventures (1993), based on a cartoon show of the same name, is a fairly easy game to play. However, it has a nasty bug lurking within it: if you press left and right simultaneously (you can do it if you break your controller's directional pivot), you can get some impressive momentum.

This is an improvement of 17 seconds over the previously published run.

This was my fourth published run on TASvideos. I finally got this one done, and I am very proud of it. I ended up saving a lot of time over Randil's run. Of course I owe him a lot of thanks for that.

In a normal playthrough, this game is quite long. You must save four family members then progress to the final area to complete the game.

However, the authors use a glitch to skip directly to the final area, skipping 4/5ths of the game; in addition, several new glitches allow more of the final area to be skipped.

This new movie improves upon the previous movie by about 13 seconds.

This was my fifth published run on TASvideos, my third team run, and the first time I obsoleted one of my own runs. We broke the game even more with more careful speed optimization and using more crazy zip warps.

This was my first published run on TASVideos, which was also my first team run. Sonikkustar submitted an improvement that saved a couple of seconds by autofiring while swimming. I messed around with the game and realized how useful zipping is and contacted him. After we found a lot of improvements, we made this run. I was very proud of this run.

At first there were 70 stars because Bowser demanded it. Then there were 16 stars because MIPS the rabbit demanded it. Then there was 1 star because Bowser's Sub demanded it. Now there are none because the viewers are impatient and demanded the game be quicker.

As with many other runs on this site, the goal of pure speed has resulted in the complete breaking of the game. Very little of the game's normal play remains. If you'd like to see more of what Super Mario 64 offers, see the 120 stars run.

This movie is approximately 24 seconds faster than the previous movie due to a series of improvements discovered by the authors, detailed in the submission message.

Super Mario 64 has a history of publications on this site. If you wish to see how it unfolded since the beginning, see the page SM64TASHistory. Also, if you have a hankering to see MIPs the rabbit, the 16 stars route has been improved.

This was my sixth published run on TASVideos. This is the biggest and best TAS I had ever worked on. The teamwork was incredible, and I think that was shown in the outcome.

http://tasvideos.org/2236S.html SNES Clue in 00:27

I canceled this one because of bad response and bad game choice, but I personally think it should be a gruefood delight.

http://tasvideos.org/2652S.html SNES Bobby's World in 10:27

I canceled this one because of improvements that I later found and then submitted.

http://tasvideos.org/2647S.html GBC Daffy Duck - Fowl Play in 08:27

I canceled this one because of tons of improvements that added up to be around a minute. I should of put a lot more of time and effort into this one.

I canceled this because of improvements that were found and then later submitted.

Super Mario 64 0 Star Run Improvement

I wouldn't say that this is actually being worked on, but I am always looking for improvements to this run, and if I find any, expect to see it in the workbench.

Battle of Olympus

I am working on this TAS with SilentSlayers. Currently 116 or so frames ahead. We are about one tenth done the TAS. This one has seemed to die off though, any help with this would be great.

Chameleon Twist 2

We are currently nowhere. I was working with bobmario511, but now Nahoc is the only person interested. I found a technique that saves time when gliding so we had to restart again. It doesn't help that this game is very hard to optimize. Another thing is that the first level is way too long. This TAS is very low priority at the moment.

Rocket: Robot On Wheels

I was going to do this TAS at some point, but it seems Azorae has taken this one on. I wish the best of luck to him in his improvement to his published movie.

Super Mario 64 70 Star BLJless Run

I was doing this before, but lost motivation. Probably will never do this one, although it would be a very neat concept in my opinion.

Addam's Family (NES)

I had a brief look at this one, a few improvements are known. Just kind of lazy to do this game. Hopefully I can find a glitch to not need a million dollars, but I don't ever see that happening.

Chameleon Twist

I was considering doing a TAS of this game to obsolete bobmario511's run, but lost motivation because it isn't the funnest game to TAS. Then Nahoc came along and obsoleted it. After that, I found a 5 second improvement to his movie, but I don't know if I will continue work on this.

Bram Stoker's Dracula

This seems like a good game choice that hasn't been done yet. Just too lazy to plan damage routes and death routes. It could be pretty good though.

Aero the Acrobat 1 & 2

Sonikkustar and I were going to do TASes of both of these game but we lost motivation. Although Sonikkustar did find a very coo trick taking death as a shortcut.

If you have interest in TASing any of these games with me, feel free to either PM me on the forums or send a message to me on IRC, I am usually always online.

Super Mario World 96 Exits

ISM is doing this TAS, although according to Mister he restarted. This should be a good run when finished though, definitely star worthy in my opinion.

Super Mario 64 120 Star

There is a huge team working on this, and I cannot wait until it is completed, it will be the best TAS ever.

Just PM me on the forums or on IRC if you need anything or want to ask me to work on something with you.

You can also find me on YouTube.
