Since moving to the SNES 16-bit land, Mega Man has taken the secret identity X, but everyone knows it's still him because he's the only blue robot who shoots three pellets at a time at other robots and steals their weapons.

FractalFusion takes the game apart with a new route, new strategies, nasty bugs and more optimal movements.

For extra curiosity, there is a page "Mega Man X Tricks" that explains some of the tricks that are and/or can be used in the X series games.

If you want to see more of the blue-clad hero, we recommend watching the 100% completition run.

Mega Man X2 makes a particularly interesting run as there are many weapons that can be used to increase mobility. These include a grappling hook, a fast mid-air dash and a weapon that can transform enemies into platforms. The authors take special care to ensure that when there is a situation in which a weapon could help them progress quicker, they make use of it.

This run improves the previous version by about 23 seconds of game-time. The previous run used the Japanese ROM, and the shorter cutscenes in that version make the improvement less apparent.

This movie aims for the fastest time possible. However, because the shōryūken (flame uppercut) used towards the end of the movie saves so much time, and because to get it the authors must first collect 100% of items such as Heart Tanks, Sub Tanks, and Item Capsules, this movie could be seen as a 100% run. Zero Parts are not required for the shōryūken, and thus they are not collected.

If you would like to watch this game played collecting Zero's parts, but not collecting any of X's, see this run.

The page Mega Man X Tricks explains some of the tricks that can be used in the X series games.

The eighth entry in the Mega Man series is very similar to the preceding games, especially its direct predecessor (in light of being the second entry in the franchise released for the PSX, the first being a port of X3). Once again, Mega Man takes on eight Robot Masters and goes on to raid Wily's fortress as usual.

If you're here for the plot, though, you're missing the point - instead enjoy the impossibly fast action and nifty glitch abuse in this run of the longest presently-TASable game in the main series to date.

Note: The credits are missing due to an emulator glitch. For those who are interested in seeing the credits, check this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8u0vav89bQ4 .

Mega Man X2 makes a particularly interesting run as there are many weapons that can be used to increase mobility.

Unlike the other movie, in this, FractalFusion does not collect any of X's upgrades, but does rescue Zero. The bosses near the end are no longer defeated in a single hit, showing off more of their AI.

Due to the items collected, there is an easter egg at the end.

- Takes damage to save time
- Uses hardest difficulty
- Genre: Platform
Capcom decided to make some easy money, so they recycled parts of Mega Man X5, threw in overly difficult trial-and-error gameplay, made almost everything an obstacle course, and called it Mega Man X6.

This run uses both X and Zero. Zero's sword physics makes it the ideal boss killer but some bosses have unavoidable invincibility periods, which is why X is sometimes used. The run also obtains a weapon. Zero cannot be obtained right away, but must be obtained by beating a certain boss.

The run uses the hardest difficulty level, Xtreme, which would be more appropriately called insane.

This run is an improvement of 19.00 from the previous movie.

For a run that plays through all stages, see [1516] PSX Mega Man X6 (USA) "All Stages" by Mothrayas in 41:18.38.

This movie aims to defeat 4 CPU controlled players in as little time as possible. Luck is manipulated for the 1:08 and then the controller is released, allowing the game to take its course.

Pokémon: Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald form the third generation of Pokémon, after Pokémon Gold and Silver. Noticeable differences include the graphics and interface, Pokémon abilities, and the running shoes that allow the player to move around in the outside overworld very fast, before getting the bike.

FractalFusion and GoddessMaria complete this run in a mere 1:31:45, 3 minutes and 22 seconds faster than the previous Pokemon Sapphire run. Instead of using Machop/Machoke, this run now uses Taillow/Swellow, which is obtained far earlier in the game, also has Guts as an ability, and has powerful moves early on and throughout. The movie also uses advanced methods of luck manipulation, with the help of RNG analysis. For more details, see the submission text.

Note: You need to have Real Time Clock on and use Flash 128k as Save Type. Real Time Clock is for sync, while Flash 128k is to prevent the game from giving a white screen.

Space Invaders needs no introduction. Space Invaders Extreme 2 is part of a recent revival of the series, introducing power-ups and a variety of new gameplay modes.

This run plays Score Attack mode on the hardest available path. Note that it doesn't aim for highest score because doing so would make the movie considerably longer.

Gekisou Sentai Car Ranger is a Power Rangers game released only in Japan. It uses the Sufami Turbo loader add-on for the SNES, making it even more obscure.

The game itself is rather short for a platformer. Only the yellow and red rangers are used due to their unique character advantages which allow them to complete the game faster than the other rangers. Unlike its predecessor, this run gets good ending by getting the minimum 250 parts necessary to form Racing Fusion RV Robo and defeat a transformed President Gynamo before he blows up the Earth. This results in the movie length being increased by 46.26 seconds. See the author's notes for more details.

Mega Man Xtreme is a port of the popular Mega Man X series to the Gameboy Color. It adapts the Mavericks and their stages from that series and wraps it into gameplay more suited for the portable console.
Note: This movie is played from a savestate to unlock "extreme" mode, which allows you to play all levels in one game. The author exploits glitches and the fast gameplay to create a movie worthy of what we have come to expect from Mega Man at TASVideos.

Note: This movie requires VBA rerecording v19, v21 or v22.

Azure Dreams is an RPG random dungeon crawler where the main character, Koh, can recruit familiars and level them up in the 40-floor Monster Tower, while gaining items and riches. He can also help the local town and romance some girls.

As can be seen from the movie time, none of this occurs in this TAS. It's just one naked dash to the top and a whole bunch of fortuitous circumstances. Luck manipulation was used on almost every floor to ensure that elevators and helpful traps are strategically located.

Should you decide to play Azure Dreams, this is definitely the wrong way to play the game.

- Takes damage to save time
- Uses easiest difficulty
- Genre: Platform
Cyborg 009 is based on the manga and anime of the same name, which began a long time ago. There are eight characters that you can use, but one of them is set and you can only choose two others for each mission.

The run uses 008 (Pyunma) and 005 (Geronimo) most of the time. 008 can jump forward quickly and swim in water, while 005 does heavy damage to bosses. Various power-ups are collected to level-up 009 (Joe) due to an event near the end of the game.

The run uses the easiest difficulty due to the final boss taking less time to beat.

If you play this game, it is recommended to level-up 009 first, and a lot.

Pokémon Trading Card Game is the video game incarnation of the popular Pokémon Trading Card Game (Pokémon TCG). Rather than spending countless hours collecting cards to fight the various Masters in this game, FractalFusion and p4wn3r take one of the basic decks, and with a whole lot of luck manipulation, deal out a series of crushing victories in rapid succession in order to become the Pokemon TCG Champion.

Created by a Japanese comedian who hated video games, this game was meant to be near impossible to complete. Rumor has it that at one point the player must leave the controller untouched for 1 hour, and fight a "final boss" with over 1 million hit-points. Although none of it is true, the game makes no sense, which is why it is so hard to beat.

The author instead completes the game in a mere 4 minutes by simply walking off the edge of existence, and magically ending at the final treasure room.

Pokémon Gold and Silver form the second generation of Pokémon, after Pokémon Red and Blue. The main differences between the generations is that the game is now in full color, and that there are 250 Pokémon instead of 151.

This movie plays through Pokémon Gold in a fairly fast manner, catching only a half dozen Pokémon in the process, but acquiring all the gym badges, and ultimately beating the protagonist of the previous generation of Pokémon games.

The author of this movie, FractalFusion, has written very extensive details of anything regarding this movie, including even some of the mathematical formulas used by the game. As usual, we recommend reading these comments.

This movie requires VBA1.7.2 v17 to synchronize. See the submission text for details.

Solitaire is a family of single-player card games. The particular form featured on the NES is called Klondike, and you can find it distributed with many desktop operating systems, such as Windows.

This run improves the previous one by ~4.5 seconds, which was done on the same layout, thanks to movement optimisation. Please read the submission comments for more details.

Please read the welcome page if you haven't already done so. It explains the rules and methods that apply to all of these movies, particularly the use of savestates and frame advance. Also refer to our Glossary to understand terms we use, such as TAS or other unfamiliar terms.
