Arkanoid (1987) strongly resembles the arcade game Breakout (1976). In Arkanoid, the paddle is actually a spaceship, and the bricks are space walls. The goal of the game is to break through the space walls and defeat the villainous Doh in order to escape from the space labyrinth.

Chef Stef improves the previous TAS by 1 minute and 15.62 seconds, thanks to much better optimisation in many stages. Please read the author's comments for more details.

Watch this TAS being played back on a real console.

This movie utilizes all of the tricks found in the Super Mario World tricks section in addition to new recently discovered tricks to beat the previous movie by 48.6 seconds. See the author's comments for more details.

Arguably one of the most well known and well developed SNES hacks in existence, Super Demo World puts Mario into a new realm that spans well beyond his original adventure.

Features of Super Demo World include:

  • Ability to store more unconventional items in the reserve box, such as a koopa, springboard, message box, or vine
  • 120 exits in total, including two secret worlds
  • Creative and challenging level design, with some puzzle elements thrown in
  • "New" graphics (mostly backgrounds taken from other games, such as Donkey Kong Country 3 and Mega Man X)

To see a much shorter run completing the minimum number of stages, see this run.

This is the second in a series of seminal platformers for the PlayStation, with very similar gameplay to its predecessor.

This run by Chef Stef improves on the previous movie by 11:30.84 minutes. It finishes the game fast without abusing any major glitches. There is also a run that uses this glitch and completes the game even faster.

Award - Funny TAS of 2013
Super Scribblenauts is the sequel to Scribblenauts, a puzzle game for the DS consisting of spawning any object from a database of thousands of possibilities (from "chair" to "God") to solve given situations. It is fundamentally the same game with two major novelties: the possibility to add adjectives (a color, a size, a state, etc.) to the objects we want to summon and the possibility to use the D-Pad to control Maxwell, the protagonist of both games, in addition to the touch screen, the only possible input method in the first installment.

This TAS completes the 10 main worlds of Super Scribblenauts. Speed is not the main goal; instead, the levels are completed in funny or unusual ways.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong is an evolution of the ever popular Donkey Kong franchise that pits Jumpman (aka Mario) yet again against the ape Donkey Kong. This time, Mario faces puzzling levels that require him to hit switches that activate/deactivate colored walls in an attempt to save the Mini-Mario toys.

The author, Chef Stef, abuses game physics and collision detection to complete the levels in record time. Using a series of new glitches and strategies, he also beats his previous run by almost seven and a half minutes.

After becoming the Hero of Hyrule, Link is sent off by Zelda to study to be a proper Elf. On the way, he gets shipwrecked on a mysterious island taken over by evil, which he then tries to free to make his way back home.

In this movie Chef Stef takes a unique route through the game exploiting many glitches to completely skip parts of the game that you are normally required to play. If you like Zelda, and you like glitches, this is the movie to watch.

We also have a movie of the Game Boy version (no DX), which skips a lot more of the game.

In this movie, the author utilizes a warping glitch, along with through-the-wall glitches, to send Link directly to the final boss (after stealing powerful weapons from the shop, of course). The game, normally hours long, is beaten in a mere five minutes.

There is a movie of this game that does not use the warp glitch.

This movie completes the B-mode of Tetris at level 19-5. Its goal is to clear all blocks from the screen upon the final line cleared. And of course it aims to do this as fast as possible.

Note: The author manipulates luck by pressing up+left+right to slow down the block's falling speed.

This run played on a real NES
