This is the much-awaited new fast completion (TAS) of Rockman 2, which took almost a year to make.

The movie was played originally by Morimoto, until Finalfighter took over and replayed a few of the earlier levels and completed the Wily levels on his own.

Timewise, this movie is almost 3 minutes faster than the previous version. It involves tons of glitches that have been precisely calculated in order to attain the fastest possible completion time.

The homepage of this movie and its related material is at http://www.globetown.net/~rockmovie/ (Japanese, with parts translated in English).

There are many more glitches / tricks in the game than are utilized in this movie, but most of them are slow and not worth performing in a run aiming for speed.
You can find demonstrations of those tricks in MPG form at: http://www.globetown.net/~rockmovie/newrockindex.htm

Note: As per the author's wish, please do not republish this movie (and AVI files made of it) on sites that make money with their content (by advertising etc).

This is a historic movie, submitted and obsoleted before the creation of the database-based (and wiki-based) site engine, before July 2004. It was inserted into the database for a history revival project by Bisqwit in autumn 2006.

When this video was first released on the Internet in mid-2003, its incredible quality of play became a phenomenon; since few people knew how the video was made, it was widely believed that it was played in real-time by an extremely skilled player. When Morimoto detailed the making of the run on his website (which can still be read here), many felt deceived and turned to criticizing the video's "illegitimacy" instead. During this time, the concept of tool-assistance was still mostly unknown, and people even went as far as claiming that Morimoto had constructed the movie in several years' time by performing video editing on every single frame of the WMV.

While this video was not the first of its kind, it was the first to gain widespread interest, and contributed greatly to the popularity of speedruns in general.

Morimoto picks only "Speed" upgrades and has fun with perfect reflexes. That's certainly something nice to do, because the game scrolls automatically and the player can't affect the speed.

Despite the fact that this is a Konami game, this game is not well-known in western countries.
This game is really quite difficult.

This is a very Japanese game - with its praying and all - but it isn't hard to follow even if you don't know the language.
Just how many games have you seen that measure the piousness of your character?

Youkai douchuuki = demon travel journal (literal translation)

Because of an irritating emulation bug in Famtasia, this new AVI is a joint work of of two emulators: Famtasia to create the video, and Nintendulator to create the audio - thanks to Quietust.
As a side effect, the download statistics for this movie were reset to zero (was: 327).

Evidently, not many people from Western countries know about this game.
This game seems to have obscure secrets, similar to Zelda's.

Loses no energy. Uses all the weapons, tools and glitches creatively. Very nice.

Rockman is known as Mega Man in the rest of world. It sometimes happens that names change when things are imported to USA.

This game was originally known as Rockman 2 in Japan.

This is a prime example of how timeattacks should be done.
Very creative, very nice.

Morimoto has been working on a significantly improved version of this movie with the aid of Finalfighter since the beginning of year 2004.
If you know where to look at in the Internet, you can find clues to what it will look like, but even if you don't want to, you can be sure it will be published at this site when it's ready!
