Nathan Graves is a vampire hunter trying to save his master, Morris, from the clutches of Dracula. Normally this would require collecting lots of different items as well as hours of leveling, but Cardboard proves collectible card passé by gathering almost none of the cards required for spells and blazing through the game at warp speed without regard to levels or his own safety.

This movie is a 42.3 second improvement over the previous movie by OgreSlayeR by means of better playing precision, taking more damage, heavier luck manipulation, and other changes.

When played normally, Castlevania: Circle of the Moon is a rather long game, in which exploration, leveling up, and killing bosses in order to gain access to different items or portions of the castle is necessary. However, a bit of luck manipulation and a series of glitches involving DSS cards throw all these aspects of gameplay out of the window, allowing the player to warp directly to Dracula and kill him humiliatingly in just over 5 minutes.

This movie is a mere 61 frame improvement over the joint venture between Cardboard & zggzdydp.

Naruto: Ninja Council is the first of a series that is loosely based on the plot of the anime, with gameplay that is a mix between side-scrolling and fixed fighting.

In this run, Cardboard demonstrates his ninja skills using Sasuke as he effortlessly charges through levels and beats the end bosses so fast, they barely have enough time to fight back.

Ninja Five-O features a ninja cop battling evil ninja masters and terrorists.

Joe Osugi, bizarre 'anti-terrorist ninja', is called in to assist the local police, who seem to be completely useless in rescuing some hostages.

The game is basically a series of rooms connected together. Your job is to rescue the hostages and then escape the stage through the red door. You have in your arsenal a three-level shuriken, a sword, and a grappling hook similar to the one from Bionic Commando. Joe also has two special abilities: to make himself invincible and to attack all enemies on screen.

This new version by Cardboard is 1 minute and 31 seconds faster than the previous one by Nitsuja, containing even more ropeswinging acrobatics and ninja madness.

Battletoads is a classic video game by Rare for the NES, but different versions of the game were also made for many other systems, such as the Genesis and the Game Boy. All of these games are known for their comical animation style (such as gigantic fists and boots when the toads attack) and their high difficulty, essentially requiring the player to memorize the upcoming dangers to react fast enough to survive.

In this version, the player plays as the Battletoad Zitz on a quest to rescue the other two Toads, Rash and Pimple, from the Dark Queen. This game has only 9 stages, as opposed to 12 in the NES version. However, unlike the NES version of the game, there are no warps, and there is no two-player option. There are also fewer time-saving glitches. That doesn't stop Cardboard, though, from beating up tons of enemies and completing the game very quickly.

For more Battletoads madness, you can also see our movies of the NES version.

This is Metroid II: Return of Samus completed with all the items collected. Being truthful to the original Metroid values, the game holds many items cleverly hidden, so finding all of them is not an easy task.

That being said, Metroid II doesn't keep track of the collected items' percentage. Moreover, the game has two excessive Energy tanks and an additional copy of each beam. It's been agreed that the author should take all the E-tanks, and at least one copy of each beam. However, due to the apparent linearity of this game, collecting so many additional items doesn't make the movie dramatically slower.

This movie is nearly 6 minutes faster than Alter's previous movie due to better precision, faster Metroid fights, and missile planning.

Note: This movie does not use secret worlds, also known as "select glitch".

Metroid II: Return of Samus is the second game in the Metroid series, taking place immediately after the events of NES Metroid. Samus arrives to the planet SR388 to exterminate all metroids, and succeeds in doing so.

This movie by Cardboard puts Spring Ball and Spider Ball to great use to compensate for the lack of items, and achieves victory in shortest time possible.

Uchuu no Kishi Tekkaman Blade (宇宙の騎士 テッカマンブレード, Space Knight Tekkaman Blade) is a game based off the Tekkaman Blade series, where the story involves Space Knights fighting against aliens. RoboCop versus The Terminator (1993) is based on a comic book that is a typical example of two popular but completely unrelated fiction universes merged into one. Such a process usually results in ruined timeline coherence for either, and this game is no exception.

As a result, we get a pretty wild mishmash of RoboCop's and Terminator's backstories in a silly plot accompanied by equally silly gameplay. This includes seemingly inescapable bullet sprays, leotard-clad baddies, exploding heads, hidden 1-ups conveniently placed in molten lava, and so on. The sheer frustration RoboCop experiences from all this madness can only be vented by banging his head on a rock!
(You wish any of this was a joke, but it's actually all there.)

The Genesis version of this game is notable for the amount of gore and other PG-13 goodies, as well as for the ability to abuse death and other things that make it most suitable for a TAS.

This is the fourth in a series of Hudson's Adventure Island games. It was only released in Japan as Takahashi Meijin no Boukenjima 4. Unlike the first three games in the series, the gameplay behaves more like Metroid, where you explore the world freely, you collect items (and dinosaur helpers) to gain new abilities, and the ending is triggered by defeating all the bosses. Also, there is no timer, and the hero can survive more than one hit, using fruits to replenish his health.

In this run, Cardboard beats the game very quickly by using damage boosts to proceed at high speeds. For more details, read the submission comments.

Rygar is an action game involving a hero with a shield as a weapon. Normally, the hero must obtain items, such as a grappling hook, to be able to explore the world of Garloz, and he must also defeat five bosses to gain access to the final area. However, these requirements can be circumvented with glitches. Indeed, this run kills no bosses except the final boss and does very little leveling.

In contrast to the any% run and the warpless run, which use the European version of Rygar, this movie uses the American version. The two ROM versions have some different glitches. For more details about the ROM choice, as well as some background explaining what in the world is going on here, see the movie comments as well as our Rygar tricks page.

Shatterhand is a bit like Batman. However, Shatterhand is longer, has no walljumps, and is a lot laggier. On the other hand, in this game, the main character can buy a powerup to give him a cool brown vest, doubling his punching power, and this vest lasts until the player takes damage three times (it even lasts between stages).

This movie by Cardboard is about 24 seconds faster than the previous version by JXQ, largely due to decreased lag.

Wizards & Warriors is a famous platform game with quirky physics where a mere bird can make a heavy iron-clad knight bounce several feet into the air.

This is a full completion of the game. We also have a run that beats the game as fast as possible using the "reuse levels" glitch.

This TAS is around 92 seconds faster than the previous version by Walker Boh due to better luck manipulation and new minor glitches.

In this game, you're an armor-clad knight with a big sword. You collect gems to bribe a red knight, kill evil beasts and rescue several "distressed damsels".

This movie, an improvement of 76 seconds over the previous, takes advantage of a glitch that allows you to re-enter the first map and substitute the last few levels with the first levels. There is also a slightly longer movie that does not use this trick.

Do you want to see more adventures of the iron-clad hero of this game, Kuros?

Super Turrican (1993) is the fifth game of the Turrican series, popular in the times of C64 and Amiga. It features Contra-like run'n'gun action crossbred with Metroid-esque exploration-driven level design and character abilities, while also being quite colorful and having remarkable soundtrack.

This is a 77 seconds improvement over the previous movie by Pasky13, achieved mostly through optimized movement and weapon usage.

Despite having the same name as its NES counterpart, it's not the same game. Curiously, while this version was made without Manfred Trenz (the original Turrican series designer/developer), the NES one was produced by him alone.
Please read the welcome page if you haven't already done so. It explains the rules and methods that apply to all of these movies, particularly the use of savestates and frame advance. Also refer to our Glossary to understand terms we use, such as TAS or other unfamiliar terms.
