| Surprise Super Mario Bros 3. improvement from nowhere! Apparently, the team of adelikat, Deign, Cardboard and JXQ had been working some time on this movie, which improves the previous movie by some 5.5 seconds (no small feat at this point), due to a wide variety of different improvements discussed in the submission message. And of course, a wadload of extra lives are again achieved in the mandatorily slow autoscrolling levels. For those that still prefer to see 99+ lives, the authors have also put together an alternate run that sacrifices time in order to gain those extra lives. | ||

| On this site, we make perfect movies, and then we surpass them. Of course, if we can surpass them, they were not perfect in the first place, but who would have known? When "perfection" is defined as "as fast as possible", it requires some sacrifices. Indeed, this movie sacrifices a lot in the playability of the game. Full of tricks to pass through walls, tricks to avoid mandatory battles, tricks to pass through enemies relatively unharmed, tricks to acquire weapon refills in little time — there is very little in this movie left that resembles normal playing. Even death is used as a viable playing strategy that saves time. All of the tricks are still performed by the means of mere controller input, even though portions of the input were calculated by a computer program (approximately 26 seconds in total). This movie is a significant improvement of 9 seconds to the previous movie; consisting of many micro-optimizations and a few major ones, including a new trick or two in the Cutman stage. Note: This movie works on both the US and Japanese versions. | ||

| Super Mario Bros 3 completed fast ― without using the magic whistles. Although this movie doesn't use the magic whistles, it does skip stages, and actually skips them quite a lot, with the aid of various items such as the hammers. Note: This movie no longer uses death as a shortcut. This is an improvement of about 56 seconds over the previous movie. | ||

| Gimmick! is a very short game that was only released in Japan and Europe. It's about a small green creature who can summon stars to help him defeat monsters and to use them as platforms to reach high places and travel fast. Using the stars is difficult and Deign's acrobatics look quite impressive. Note that the author dies several times in the movie to speed things up Deign's movie here does not collect the special items required to access the secret 7th level which the other Gimmick!-run does. This is a 30 second improvement over the previous movie by Nitsuja. | ||

| Marble Madness is a 3D'ish game similar in its style to Snake Rattle 'n Roll. The objective in these two games is quite different, though. In this game, the player must roll a marble from point A to point B. This is of course not as easy as it sounds. And certainly not as easy as it looks in this movie. This is a 65 frame improvement over the previous movie by adelikat. | ||

| This is a very quick completion of the popular Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. The author abuses a glitch that lets him warp to any stage up to 6-8 (but requires a certain amount of coins to set up — read the comments of the previous movie for more details), thus making it possible to defeat Bowser in mere six minutes of gameplay. This is an improvement of 168 frames over the previous movie. | ||

| Final Fantasy IV (renamed to Final Fantasy II in North-American publication) was a revolution to the RPG genre. It was the first to introduce the active battle system, among many other redeeming qualities. This movie plays through the game in a mere 2 hours, 53 minutes and 14 seconds. It aims for real time, but has a secondary goal of lowest in-game time when that does not incur an expense in real time. The in-game completion time is 1:59:28. The author also included many easter eggs, or surprise occurrences, throughout the movie. These have been detailed in the author's comments. We recommend reading the comments regarding this movie. Note: This movie resets the game console a few times, first saving the game and then loading it, so to watch it on an emulator, you will need an emulator that supports recording the console resets. This movie was made with the original English-language version. It was also encoded with the Action Replay code 0495DCFF, which keeps the music volume from decreasing while the game is paused. This greatly reduces the annoyance factor of constant pausing during battles, which is done to save time. | ||

| SNES Zelda completed in a very quick manner by traveling in an alternate dimension through the walls. The basis of the trick is to enter a corridor or staircase by holding left+up+right at the bottom of the stairs. Note that you need the patched version of Snes9x to play the movie file. Now 24 frames faster than the preceding version. | ||

| Wetrix is a strange, Tetris style game in which you place blocks onto a large playing field and score loads of points by making lakes and surviving (every drop of water that leaks off the field counts against you). This run aims to get the highest score possible in the 1 minute challenge. The final score is 2,613,944 points. In contrast, the best current unassisted record is only about 18,000. There are huge bonus multipliers which stack together to produce the massive score. | ||

| In a normal playthrough, this game is quite long. You must save four family members then progress to the final area to complete the game. However, the author uses a nice glitch to skip directly to the final area; skipping 4/5ths of the game and completing it in less than 4 minutes. | ||
