Newer Super Mario Bros. DS is a hack of New Super Mario Bros. that adds entirely new levels and custom enemies, bosses, music and graphics to the DS game. The hack also modifies the Blue Shell of the original game into the Hammer Suit from Super Mario Bros. 3.

In this TAS by Soig, the Hammer Suit is heavily abused to beat the hack in record time.

New Super Mario Bros. was released in 2006 for the Nintendo DS. It features your typical side-scrolling plumber, but in this case he comes with enhanced abilities, like wall jumping and doing flips.

Most of the game can normally be skipped with warp cannons. Here, the author avoids those cannons, allowing you to see much more plumbing action.

This run is 1:40.18 faster than the previous one made by Soig and WinEpic.

Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros 3 is a platform video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance. It is an enhanced remake of the Nintendo Entertainment System video game Super Mario Bros. 3, and is based on the remake found in Super Mario All-Stars for the Super NES.

It contains several enhancements, including the addition of Mario and Luigi's voices by Charles Martinet, a multiplayer mode based on the original arcade game Mario Bros and the ability to scan e-Cards, utilizing two Game Boy Advances, the e-Reader, and a copy of Super Mario Advance 4. Once a card is scanned, it adds certain content to the game.

Soig beats the 38 e-Reader levels in record time. This run uses a WiiU VC release of the game, because, unlike in the GBA versions, all the e-Reader levels are instantly available here. If you want to see all the normal levels beaten, see here.

Contra: Hard Corps is the only game of the Contra series released on the Genesis / Mega Drive console. In this game, you get to choose between four characters, each with different abilities and weapons.

This game has four completely different final stages, each with a different ending, depending on the choices you make earlier. This run takes the second quickest path leading to one of these final stages. There are also runs which get the faster secret ending and the best ending.

The Japanese version was chosen because for some reason it gives the players a health bar, allowing them to take some damage without dying.

Fang is used due to a glitch that allows him to deliver fully charged D weapon shots without taking time to charge them.

This movie by Soig beats adelikat's old movie by 4.38 seconds due to general improvements. To learn more about these improvements, you can read the author's comments.

The Japanese version was chosen because, for some reason, it gives the players a health bar, allowing them to take some damage without dying.

In this movie, the author takes the "best ending", which is the only ending that rewards the player with a "GOOD JOB!" screen at the end. There is also a run which obtains a worse ending but still shows off a number of the game's stages. There is also a run which gets the secret ending.

Contra: Hard Corps (1994) was the first game in the series to be exclusively released on a non-Nintendo console. The game took a lot of elements from previous installments and spiced them up with even more dynamic combat, different playable characters, nonlinear plot and about twice the amount of boss fights.

In this movie the author takes the secret "fifth ending", thereby skipping most of the game. If you want to see runs which play more of the game, then you should see this run (with the quickest "normal" ending) or this run (with the "best" ending).

The Japanese version was chosen because, for some reason, it gives the players a health bar, allowing them to take some damage without dying.

While the time may look longer, it is a 0.25 second improvement over the previous movie. The previous movie used an inaccurate FPS (60) instead of the standard Genesis framerate (59.923).

Set after the events of the first movie, Sega's Ghostbusters follows the further adventures of Peter, Ray and Egon, as the make their way through six cases in an attempt to piece together a mysterious stone tablet.

Completely different than the Activision title of the same name, the Genesis Ghostbusters is a side-scrolling platformer that has the boys in gray running through houses, apartments, a burning house and a high-rise for starters as they battle a myriad of ghosts with their proton blasters. When the Ghostbusters face off against a boss ghost, they have the ability to trap them the traditional way.

Peter, Ray and Egon, each have different abilities, and can purchase weapon and life upgrades from shops throughout the levels. Other familiar faces make an appearance, as Slimer offers power-ups, and the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man returns to settle the score from the movie.

Contra completed fast with one distinct goal: do not kill, unless absolutely necessary to complete the game.

The hero shows the ultimate display of pacifism by sacrificing his own life in order to not harm the Level 5 tanks.

This movie is 5.42 seconds faster than the preceding version due primarily to greater use of a jumping glitch.

Note: This game was released under different names, such as 魂斗羅 (kontora) in Japan, and Probotector in Europe. GryZor is also used in Europe on some other systems.

Mario Adventure is a hack of Super Mario Bros. 3. These are its most noteworthy characteristics:

  • Mario can keep a power-up in reserve like in Super Mario World, and the change is immediately effective.
  • There is a new power-up, Magic Mario, which allows Mario to stomp on more enemies than otherwise possible, shoot extremely powerful projectiles, and take a few hits before losing the power-up.
  • Graphics are rendered with a custom palette.
  • Almost all levels end with a Boom-Boom battle.
  • There are 7 worlds which Mario can visit in any order, each containing a hidden key.
  • After finding all 7 keys and beating the 7 worlds, Mario can access the 8th world to beat Bowser and win the game.

This movie is an improvement of 45 seconds over the previous effort.

This game, aka. Probotector II Return of the Evil Forces, is, implicitly, Contra 2. The guys who have an infinite supply of ammo and who destroy worlds bare-chested are back!

In this run, Soig improves the predecessor movie by Baxter and adelikat in 53.31 seconds thanks to a bunch of new glitched found over the years, namely the glitch with the boss in Area 1, elevator glitch in Area 4, and the ceiling glitch in Area 8.

There is also a one-player run of this game, as well as a pacifist version.

This game, a.k.a. Probotector II: Return of the Evil Forces, is, implicitly, Contra 2. The guy who has an infinite supply of ammo and destroys worlds bare-chested is back!

Unlike our other movie of Super C, this one uses only 1 player. The most noticeable improvement over previous versions is a new skip in the last level.

This movie improves the previous one by 4.45 seconds due to better optimization.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii is a 2009 side-scrolling platform video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Wii video game console. New Super Mario Bros. Wii follows Mario as he fights his way through Bowser's henchmen to rescue Princess Peach. Mario has access to several power-ups that help him complete his quest, including the Ice Flower, the Fire Flower, and the Starman, each giving him unique abilities. There are some new powerups to this game, such as the Propeller Hat which lets the player ascend very quickly. (You'll see a lot of that hat in this run.)

In this run, Soig obsoletes the previous publication from Got4n by 12 in game seconds with more optimized movement, despite the longer run time due to emulation differences. More information can be found in the submission text.

Please read the welcome page if you haven't already done so. It explains the rules and methods that apply to all of these movies, particularly the use of savestates and frame advance. Also refer to our Glossary to understand terms we use, such as TAS or other unfamiliar terms.
