| Lunar Ball, known as Lunar Pool in the US, is, as the name suggests, a pool game for the NES, comprising 60 stages of oddly-shaped tables. With some heavy support from a bot and the help of an unusual glitch on two tables, the game is completed in record time. The friction of the pool table can be adjusted; in this run it is left alone. See also the frictionless run. Reading the submission text is recommended. The emulator movie requires FCEU 0.98.15 or an earlier version of FCEU. | Lunar Ball, known as Lunar Pool in the US, is, as the name suggests, a pool game for the NES with the curious ability to adjust the friction of the surface of the pool table. Indeed, it is quite possible to play with no friction, and while this may sound easy, it actually proves to be impossibly difficult due to removing the major obstacle from the balls just continuing to roll forever, causing the game to never end. With some heavy support from a bot (and massive loss of sanity), the author manages the nigh-impossible feat of making it all the way to the end of all 60 tables even in the face of this overwhelming opposition. Reading the submission notes is highly advisable to explain some of the oddities such as the occasional pocketing of the cue ball. (In short: The cue ball is deliberately pocketed in order to avoid getting a perfect score on every level because the point counter would take unbearably long to tick all the points, up to a half minute per level.) For more heavy optimization of pool tables, see also the run of this game with the default friction level. | ||

This movie has been obsoleted!Click here to see the new movie. This is a historic movie, submitted and obsoleted before the creation of the database-based (and wiki-based) site engine, before July 2004. It was inserted to the database in a history revival project by Bisqwit in autumn 2006. This is the earliest Super Mario Bros 2 (USA) TAS on record. It uses only Luigi. It doesnt' utilize the many tricks we know of today. It also fails to use the shortcut route in 1-1. It does manage to avoid using the carpet in 1-2. More significantly, it forgoes the World 4 route and takes the World 5 one instead.

It is simply a revision of level 7-2 where he picks Mario and takes advantage of getting on the ceiling to score a shortcut.

It was inserted to the database in a history revival project by Bisqwit in autumn 2006. This is Bisqwit's 5th attempt at this game, about 7 seconds faster than his previous attempt. This movie uses Luigi for 1-1 (and still takes the long route), otherwise it is the same route & character choices as previous attempts. This seems to be the first movie to fully use the ceiling route in 7-2 in the way it is done today.

This movie has been obsoleted!Click here to see the new movie. My fourth attempt on SMB2, which is about 60 seconds faster than the second version and about 30 seconds faster than the third version. Uses warps. Comment from Bisqwit: The warp from 4-2 goes to 6-1, not to 7-1. (Several people have asked me why I didn't use it.)This movie takes the same route and character choices as previous movies but is a complete redo with greater precision.

| Kage no Densetsu (影の伝説) is a story based in old Japan. The beautiful princess Kiri has been kidnapped by evil ninjas. Many samurai warriors were sent to rescue her. None ever returned. The player is Kage, a young ninja who goes to rescue the princess Kiri. Speedrunwise, this game is all about luck manipulation. Like any good ninja game, it hides many secrets inside, and the player (Bisqwit) set out to discover every one of them that is important in making a TAS. A detailed story of those secrets can be found in the submission message, but in conclusion it lead into this 28-second speedup compared to the previous movie by Walker Boh. The theme music of this game sounds a lot better if you imagine it being played on a Japanese koto, like this: http://bisqwit.iki.fi/music/misc/kage.mid | ||
