This movie has been obsoleted!Click here to see the new movie. This movie is quite probably the best illustration of a tool-assisted speedrun there is. Ludicrous-speed bouncing around. Completed without collecting any emeralds, with Sonic and Tails. This run takes everything you know about Sonic and Knuckles and turns it upside-down. It extensively uses the "scroll objects offscreen to pass through them" trick to warp to places that shouldn't be reached, break bosses, and nearly skip entire stages. The total time saved totals to an impressive ten minutes over the previous movie by SprintGod. As usual, we recommend reading the author's comments of this movie.

| Ludicrous-speed bouncing around. Completed without collecting any emeralds, with both Sonic and Tails controlled by the player. This run takes everything you know about Sonic and Knuckles and turns it upside-down. It extensively uses the "scroll objects offscreen to pass through them" trick to zip and warp to places that shouldn't be reached, break bosses, and effectively skip entire stages. It is worth noting that nitsuja did not directly participate in the creation of this movie; instead, Upthorn incorporated newly discovered tricks in several stages and spliced them in for a total improvement of 49 seconds. | ||

| Disappointed with slow paced movies that may be good but just move too slowly? Look no further, nitsuja in this extremely high-speed run demonstrates how to break the sound barrier and why Sonic is the fastest character in the video game universe. The average character movement speed in this movie is probably the highest of all the movies on this site. This movie doesn't collect any of the Chaos Emeralds, but does demonstrate almost every single move that Sonic is capable of in this game. | ||

| Another movie that's so fast you can hardly see what's going on. The main character can use his rocket dash to inflict a lot of damage on his opponents as well as bounce off walls and ceilings. Nitsuja's movie is an incredible improvement to the previously published version. Cutting off 5 minutes is no easy task in a platform game such as this. Like the previous movie, this is played at the hardest difficulty, crazy hard. | ||

It's about a small green creature who can summon stars to help him defeat monsters and to use them as platforms to reach high places and travel fast. Using the stars is difficult and Nitsuja's acrobacy looks quite impressive. Note that the author dies several times in the movie to speed things up. Take a look at the submission text for more information. Nitsuja's movie here does not collect the special items required to access the secret 7th level which the other Gimmick!-run does.

| This Sonic Advance movie is unique as a speedrun in one aspect: the hero (Sonic) moves so fast that the "camera" of the game cannot even follow him. Therefore, Sonic is rarely seen in the movie. On the rare occasions we get to watch Sonic, we get to enjoy seeing him moving through walls, charging up for another dash, or making short work of bosses. Besides the super fast speed itself, the speed also provides Sonic an ability (glitch) to pass through platforms and walls under certain conditions. Note: this run has two AVIs available for download. The first one is normal, ~48 MB in size and shows the movie including the credits and all. The second one is ~77 MB in size and it shows two screens side by side — the one on the left is identical to the normal version; the one on the right is made with a special emulator, hacked to force the game's camera to focus on Sonic, making it much easier to follow what nitsuja is doing with him. Unlike the first video, this version doesn't show the credits and anything following them. | ||

| Sonic the Hedgehog CD was developed to showcase a new Genesis/Mega Drive peripheral, the Sega CD. Likewise, this movie is the first of its kind on TASVideos and showcases the newly updated Gens emulator that allows for making stable movies of Sega CD games. The game is markedly different than other Sonic games; aside from "improved" graphics and sounds, each level has 2 to 4 alternate versions that correspond to different time periods. Sonic can move between them to affect the gameplay and ending. This run is approximately 37 seconds faster than upthorn and nitsuja's previous run thanks to various optimization and minor route changes. For more information on the improvements, the BIOS files used and a run for the Japanese version of the game, please read the author's submission notes. There are two AVIs, the first recorded with the US music and the second with the Japanese music. | ||

| Snake Rattle 'n Roll is a 3D game mostly about collecting the
"nibble bibbles" or something like that. The biggest part
of the game is the tricky maneuvers required to complete the
big mountain levels.
This movie is a 1.5 minute improvement to the previous author's
movie, due to better maneuvers, luck manipulation and other tricks
such as controlling two snakes at the same time. No warps are used.

| Joe Osugi, bizarre 'anti-terrorist ninja', is called in to assist the local police, who seem to be completely useless in rescuing some hostages. The game is basically a series of rooms connected together. Your job is to rescue the hostages and then escape the stage through the red door. You have in your arsenal a three-level shuriken, a sword, and a grappling hook similar to the one from Bionic Commando. Joe also has two special abilities: to make himself invincible and to attack all enemies on screen. This new version by nitsuja is 4 minutes and 13 seconds (!) faster than the previous one, effectively turning it into an orgy of ropeswinging acrobatics and ninja madness. | ||

| Yet another Sonic run by nitsuja. This time around the game doesn't allow running faster than the camera can follow. However it does allow team play constantly. This run is refreshing compared to other Sonic runs because of how different it is. Yet like the others, it does not collect the Chaos Emeralds. It is recommended to read the author's novel to see why he chose to do many of the things he did. | ||

| Ecco is a very original and hellishly hard game. You control Ecco the dolphin, navigating the waters, saving other trapped dolphins (which of course were left on their own here), finding key diamonds, schools of fish and pockets of air deep down in submarine caves. Ecco is capable of moving at very high speed but has little in the way of brakes. Turning corners without smashing into walls is tricky to say the least. Quoting bobucles's analysis of the game:Oh, this game is great. I remember that at the beginning, the gun has exactly enough shots to make it past that first door. Shield, big blast, and kill the guards, then the gun runs out. Waste any, and you die. Classic. You really have to play the game to know just how hard it is. As an example, if you don't hold up at that very first water scene, a tentacle drags you down to your death. Those leeches are fatal, the beast takes alot of practice to get past, you have to rattle your cage free, the first gun fight is very tough, the steam in the pipes is fatal, you can drown, spikes, teeth, tentacles, leaps of faith, and tons of gunfights. The colleseum scene is a puzzle in itself– you better hit the buttons in the right order, or you'll get caught. And you better make it to that control panel at the end, or the guard will kill you. Just like the Sierra games of old, there were a million ways you could die, and only one way to survive. It was truley a great adventure game like no other. And the best part is, there weren't any box puzzles! How many adventure games can you say that about? | ||

Selected comments from the author:Prince of Persia 2 is one of the most challenging games ever made. Maybe this is because of the terribly imprecise control, the nonsensical puzzles, and the character's amazing inability to survive falling any distance. There are no pits with spikes this time around, apparently there were enough complaints about the ones in the original Prince of Persia, but unfortunately, non-spiky pits are just as deadly as spiky ones, and the new traps are far more sinister.

| This movie is about a boy that gets turned into a blob and then goes on an adventure to get back at the bad guy. The blob (Jerry) can stretch himself upwards or downwards and kill all the enemies that he touches while stretching. The author of the movie makes Jerry stretch for only a fraction of a second when he encounters enemies which makes it seem like Jerry can kill anything by just touching them. | Dragon Fighter is a cross-over between a platformer and a shooter. It starts out in platform mode, where you can collect dragon points. When you have enough, you can transform into a powerful dragon, turning the game into a autoscrolling shooter. The game scrolls slowly in this mode, but the dragon moves fast. By continuously switching between the two modes, it allows the player to go as fast as possible, which makes an otherwise boring game interesting. | ||
