Obsoletes movie #439 (10:56.32)
Rating: 7.9 (31 votes)
- Aims for fastest time
- Best ending
- All levels&secrets
- Uses death as shortcut
- Takes damage to save time
- Genre: Platform
This is Sami's second take on Gimmick!, a short Japanese game about a small green creature who can summon stars to help him defeat monsters and to use them as platforms to reach high places and travel fast.

This movie aims to collect all the items to enter the secret 7th level after the level 6 boss. It accomplishes this about 56 seconds faster than the previous movie.

The game cartridge of Gimmick! contains a special microchip, FME7, which extends the number of sound channels in the game from 5 to 8, creating a more melodic soundtrack than in most other NES games.

If you liked this, be sure to check the other Gimmick! run that skips the secret items.

Obsoletes movie #1 (22:43.95)
Rating: 6.4 (20 votes)
- Aims for fastest time
- Best ending
- All levels&secrets
- No death
- Uses no warps
- Abuses programming errors in the game
- Genre: Platform
- Genre: Puzzle
Solomon’s Key is a puzzle platform game with an old clumsy magician who has the power of creating and destroying platforms. And through that power, he saves the world.

This movie plays all the rooms of the game, including the hidden rooms with Page of Time, Page of Space, and even a princess of some kind. (Fairy collection rooms were not included.) No warps were used. Due to those secrets, it accomplishes the best ending of the game.

Almost all rooms were improved from the previous movie ― many of them even several seconds faster. The precise times can be found in the submission message.

NOTE: In case you are wondering, the author could have used death as a shortcut in one room like he did in the previous movie, but chose not to.

Obsoletes movie #399 (03:41.9)
Rating: 7.3 (23 votes)
- Aims for maximum score
- Best ending
- Uses warps
- Manipulates luck
- Plays at hardest level
- Genre: Puzzle
This movie aims for the fastest possible time to get a score of 999999 in the Nintendo Tetris.

It warps directly to the 19th level and fills half of the field quickly to be able to operate short distances in the top part of the field. From there on, it only gets tetrises (4-line clearings) until the score is maxed out.

A glitch involving pressing several directional buttons at once is used to manipulate luck for the next pieces. Flickering of the next piece block and piece in play results.

For the record, this is the fastest speed the NES game is capable of. For more extreme Tetris fun, please see movies from Arika Online.
There's some really awesome stuff there. (Click to download - 14 MB)

- Genre: Platform
James Pond 3: Operation Starfish (1993) is a platform game starring a super agile fish named James Pond, which has been Amiga's somewhat preemptive answer to Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario World games. The physics of this game allow for many interesting acrobatics, like running up the walls and ceilings at breakneck speed. As such, these abilities are abused to the point where, in some parts, Pond bounces around as fast as Sonic does.

Following the game's plot, the evil Dr. Maybe attempts to take over the dairy industry, for which he constructs a giant stronghold on the Moon. Because, as you probably know, its surface is made of cheese. The overworld map spans over 100 levels, but most of them are optional.

This run is the author's second submission for this game. The Cheese Mines and Stiltonium Machines were destroyed in order to reach the good ending. According to the author, the bad ending is about as bad as losing the game.

A Sonic video without Sonic! Instead, Knuckles takes the spotlight and collects all the Chaos (and Super) Emeralds.

Though, since the latter set of Emeralds isn't used for anything meaningful at all, the author has also provided a version that skips all the Super Emeralds and their respective bonus stages, which is about 9 minutes shorter. The movie files for this and other bonuses can be obtained from the author's comments.

Obsoletes movie #490 (16:52.27)
Rating: 7.1 (18 votes)

- Genre: Platform
Castlevania: Dracula X (1995), released in Japan as Akumajō Dracula XX, is actually a toned-down remake of a PC Engine title known as Rondo of Blood (1993). It stars Richter Belmont, supposedly a son of Juste Belmont from Harmony of Dissonance, on a mission to save Annette (said to be his girlfriend) and Maria Renard (a young vampire huntress said to be his girlfriend's sister), along with a number of their fellow villagers, from imprisonment by Dracula (said to be the villain) and his minions.

Unfortunately, in this SNES port Richter isn't too much of a fast walker - unlike his father and the later Belmont clan descendants - so his fastest way of moving is constant backflipping (so don't get surprised with the author's choice of traveling method).

This movie is a 165 second improvement to the previous version by Dan and Nightcom; such a large gain is achieved thanks to greatly increased precision and other new tricks explained in the author's comments.

Donkey Kong's been kidnapped and old Cranky Kong insists that Diddy collect a bunch of coins that say "DK" on them. These goals are sufficiently compatible that Diddy and Dixie decide to get a little bit sidetracked on their rescue plan.

This run abuses a lot of bugs with regard to motion and collision detection. Read the author's submission to learn more.

Note: this movie was recorded with a slightly modified snes9x. A soft reset feature was added to the movie file. A copy of this snes9x can be found in the author's submission, with source code patch.
