In Spinmaster, known in Japan as Miracle Adventure (ミラクルアドベンチャー), you play as Johnny and Tom, two treasure seekers. They have to save Johnny's girlfriend and gather map pieces in order to find the biggest treasure in the world! Along the way, they must fight past lots of quirky henchmen, large bosses, and more, all accompanied by cartoony graphics and stereotypical cowboy voice clips.

In this game, Johnny and Tom can use several different types of weapons, such as the elements of ice, fire, and thunder. They can collect a limited number of super attacks, denoted by the letter "B" under their health bars, to hurt everything on the screen and damage bosses heavily. Also, health does not refill between levels.

adelikat, in the site's first ColecoVision run ever, completes this game in 4:48.58 by jumping through walls, abusing deaths, and moving very fast.

Note: The character should not be confused with Mario, who was originally named Jumpman. Interestingly enough, Glover cited Donkey Kong as inspiration for this game. It is not known whether the naming is a coincidence or not.

Several months after the freeing the Vorticons from Mortimer McMire, Commander Keen (Billy Blaze) finds out that an unknown race called the Shikadi are planning to destroy the Milky Way. He sets course towards Gnosticus IV on a quest to discover their location with the Oracle's aid. Upon arrival, he discovers that the Shikadi have captured the Council Members. In order to save the universe, Keen must fly to the Shadowlands and rescue them.

Using a series of tricks listed in the submission text, Keen reaches the ending in a mere 10 minutes.

Be sure to also watch the exciting conclusion to Goodbye Galaxy.

Using a series of glitches, Keen completes only four stages to get to the end game, only one of which takes any significant length of time, and destroys the Quantum Explosion Dynamo, the core of the Omegamatic in the impossibly short time of 2:02. In the process, he manages to inadvertently prevent the Shikadi from accomplishing their escape (though you have to watch the ending very closely to figure out that this has happened here).

This run completes all seven worlds.

Watch Bill Rizer embark on a new colorful adventure in the shirtless land, this time making even less sense than ever before. To quote the game's ending: Whatever the truth may have been, it was lost to time as the invaders became a mere footnote in the pages of history. A footnote which read: they sure blew up good.

Amen.

In this run, hellagels and red-crowned-crane collect all secret disks, life ups, BM upgrades and sub tanks, achieving a 100% completion rate.

This run uses death to switch between Eri and Tarma, and to obtain more grenades. You may also wish to see the run using "Marco" with no deaths.

In this movie the author abuses many glitches to take massive shortcuts in the game (including skipping an entire level). He also intentionally kills off the character several times in order to avoid backtracking.

As expected, the Game Boy Color "port" doesn't play much like the PlayStation or PC versions, but it does provide some interesting gameplay. Look out for the large shortcuts made possible by breaking the game's physics engine.

This movie is 7:46.48 faster than the previous version. Some time is saved by using the (JPN) version over the (USA) version, but much more time is gained through heavy bot-assisted luck manipulation. Reading the author's comments is recommended.

Aqfaq defies the law of physics by doing tricks that are impossible to perform in real life. If you are looking for crazy motocross action, don't look further, you have it right here!

The author, CoolKirby, races Frogger madly through the levels and rescues all of the babies in just under 10 minutes.

This has led to even stranger results than the old run, clearing five and a half minutes thanks to a glitch that allows for skipping several levels.

In this run, the author makes usage of a simple L+R glitch which doubles RoboCop's speed without affecting camera speed if three directions at once are pressed. In addition to this, it even allows him to warp to the next screen immediately when he catches up to the edge of the camera view while performing this glitch, and if there is an adjacent room to the direction where he's going. This allows him to get through most troublesome walls. The author provides detailed comments which help understanding what is going on.

bobmario511 surpasses the previous run by 0.93 seconds.

This run improves the previous movie by 19.08 seconds, mostly by finishing the first level quicker by taking a shell and performing the pipe glitch death.

Wario, having been kicked out of Mario's castle in his first appearance, decides, in his eternal greed, to search for a statue stolen by the nefarious Captain Syrup and the Black Sugar Gang. Along the way this would normally involve the occasional side quest for hidden treasures and collecting as many coins as he can possibly amass.

Here, however, Wario decides this isn't worth his time and proceeds as quickly as possible towards the final confrontation - going so far as to skip entire levels and otherwise make a mockery of the game engine.

This movie is a 7:35.61 improvement over the previous movie, thanks to even more level skipping and further optimized levels.

This game also features the first appearance of another Sunsoft character, Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel.

This movie abuses death to a large degree to obliterate the game in record time.

This is actually nifboy's third movie of Cadash, and the first one considered worth publishing. This means that the author hasn't just thrown something together, but rather planned and optimized everything carefully.

With the help of the new tricks and more precise actions, Truncated has shaved 32.25 seconds out of the predecessor movie. See his own comments on how he did that.

This time around, adelikat utilizes damage boosting and a few other movement-based tricks to save over a full minute compared to the previous run.

maTO completes this game in a little over 10 minutes by accurate playing and good health management.

In this TAS, both player characters are controlled and shots are precisely placed to defeat every enemy in every level at blinding speed. Many precise tricks are used; details and stage-by-stage rundowns are available in the author's comments.

Another fun aspect is bomb-jumping, which allows both higher jumps and traveling vertically through walls. Almost the whole 2nd half of the game is skipped with this trick!

This game was released as Turrican III for the Amiga before Factor 5 got Data East to port it to the Genesis/Mega Drive.

Like most of the previous games in this series, the protagonist has limited rolling power and limited use of super bombs. This forces the author to use some strategic choices to conquer these stages quickly, including occasionally dying to replenish bombs.

Even if killing the root of all evil would end everyone's problems, the team decides to take a few side jobs. As a result, they become even stronger and do things that would be impossible in a regular speedrun.

This run originates from TASVideos' Dream Team Contest 2 back in 2009, and is an improvement of 1:48.68 over the best submission from then.

As a result, we get a pretty wild mishmash of RoboCop's and Terminator's backstories in a silly plot accompanied by equally silly gameplay. This includes seemingly inescapable bullet sprays, leotard-clad baddies, exploding heads, hidden 1-ups conveniently placed in molten lava, and so on. The sheer frustration RoboCop experiences from all this madness can only be vented by banging his head on a rock!
(You wish any of this was a joke, but it's actually all there.)

The Genesis version of this game is notable for the amount of gore and other PG-13 goodies, as well as for the ability to abuse death and other things that make it most suitable for a TAS.

The author dissected the game with the help of Lua scripts to find optimal battles and avoid random encounters.

The author shows an extremely entertaining route featuring abuse of the Jump kick move, using wallkicks to fly up sheer cliffs, and even sacrificing lives to smash bosses.

During autoscroll sections Dammit is sure to entertain you by insulting the inept hordes of enemies, insulting the Genesis hardware itself in one special palette error case, and pulling some disappearing acts crazy enough to be worthy of a Ninja. In this tool-assisted speedrun, very few cars are skitched and the other racers are ignored.

This run takes everything you know about Sonic 3 & Knuckles and turns it upside-down. It extensively uses the "scroll objects offscreen to pass through them" trick to zip and warp to places that shouldn't be reached, break bosses, and effectively skip entire stages.

It is worth noting that nitsuja and Upthorn did not directly participate in the creation of this movie; instead, marzojr incorporated several additional tricks in several stages and spliced them in for a total improvement of 2:14.31 seconds over his last effort at doing the same.

It was encoded using HQ3x followed by HQ2x on every frame of the video, but it requires a very fast computer to play at full speed.

Though, since the latter set of Emeralds isn't used for anything meaningful at all, the author has also provided a version that skips all the Super Emeralds and their respective bonus stages, which is about 9 minutes shorter. The movie files for this and other bonuses can be obtained from the author's comments.

It appears to be loosely based upon Capcom's Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers video games for the Nintendo Entertainment System, sharing its gameplay mechanics, although it is not licensed by Disney. As in the aforementioned game, the main character must throw crates at the enemies in order to defeat them.

This game was eventually used as the basis for the unofficial Mega Drive Super Mario World game. Some of the levels in this game have their background music based on that of the Super NES video game Donkey Kong Country.

This game is supposedly about an alien taking control over earth, but since the first level says "Казахская ССР", there are small red stars everywhere, and one of the bosses holds a hammer and sickle... well, we all know what this game is really about.

This movie by Aqfaq features all 80 levels solved in fast and unexpected ways. The strategies used to attain this result rely on several interesting tricks and glitches described in the submission comments.

In this movie, the protagonist wizard uses various unorthodox methods for completing the game as fast as possible. He dies four times in the process, but that does not slow him down at all. In fact, dying is one of the tricks that makes this movie 1.5 minutes faster than its predecessor.

In this run, Mukki blazes through the game with impressive health management, occasionally dying to get more hit points when it saves time.

Unlike later 8-bit Sonic games, there are significant differences in levels between the SMS version and the Game Gear version; here the latter is used primarily for faster boss fights.

Contrary to the Chameleon Twist run, all 6 levels need to be played through in order to reach the end; Sky Land, Carnival Land, Ice Land, Great Edo Land, Toy Land and Pyramid Land.

Mystical Ninja 2 reverts back to the traditional side-scrolling 2D platforming style of the SNES games. However, due to to the Nintendo 64's 3D capabilities, you'll encounter massive bosses and detailed worlds as you make your way through Japan. To attack, you can either hurl coins, or use each character's specific weapon, such as Goemon's trademark pipe. Two players can also play simultaneously and work together to beat foes, and you can even ride piggy-back onto your friend.

There are also towns to explore, where you chat with villagers and explore various shops and houses for information and clues. Goemon Impact, the giant singing robot wearing rollerskates, also makes a return as you battle enemy mechs from inside its cockpit in a first-person view.

This run collects 100% of the Tickets, Tinker Tokens and life upgrades.

Numerous bugs are exploited in order to speed up Mario's progress and the physics engine is abused to its fullest.

This TAS of the game is the result of three years of hard work and many restarts due to new discoveries. It features many never-before-seen tricks and glitches, and completes every dungeon without getting a single boss key. Everything is done out of order, in ways that will amaze the viewer and keep them on the edge of their seat the entire way through, including a whole new way of warping between the areas in the game's over-world, and a new method of traveling that makes even the longest stretches in the game seem tiny.

The author beats the game in two 3-day cycles (the previous route used three), and does so in a way that puts every past attempt at a 6-day challenge to shame.

This run has roughly 35 minutes of improvements in gameplay over the previous TAS of its kind.

This movie contains several new glitches and sequence breaks which allow for a much faster completion than were possible when the last run was made. Several large glitches in the game are not used in the run, such as those which allow the player to manipulate memory addresses to obtain items without physically picking them up. These are avoided because it would make the completion of any dungeon completely arbitrary; they can be seen in an old any% run.

In this TAS of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the author aims to beat the game as quickly as possible. He achieves this by exploiting a large sequence break which involves "tricking" the game into warping Link directly from the Deku Tree (the first dungeon) to Ganon's Castle. Child Link then goes on conquering the whole Castle without a single thought about becoming an Adult beforehand.

Despite how quickly this game can be beaten these days, this run is almost one minute faster than its predecessor thanks to a new trick at the Tower Collapse Sequence and many small improvements throughout the run.

Turok has been famous for being the first fog navigation simulator of its time. The omnipresent fog was included to obscure the low rendering distance that was used in order to increase performance on N64's hardware, but it also resulted in a somewhat claustrophobic feeling throughout the game. To further confuse the disoriented player, the majority of wall textures are nondescript and repetitive, making it easy to get lost at times.

Disclaimer: Due to various complaints of motion sickness caused by the strafe-running technique utilized, the viewer is encouraged to keep an airsickness bag handy in case of sudden nausea.

In this game, the second most diabolical evil genius in the universe, The Dark Queen, has kidnapped Princess Angelica and Pimple - a battletoad. Rash and Zitz must save them by traveling through the most insane multilevel set of plans ever designed. This includes falling down huge shafts, racing through obstacle courses at breakneck speeds, riding on snakes through a massive maze of spikes, passing through a killer ventilation system, navigating through a missile defense system, climbing a never ending revolving tower, and much much more. Along the way, the Battletoads must also face off against an evil army of robots, genetically engineered rodents, and The Dark Queen herself.

In order to make the game a bit easier, its creators embedded some secret warp zones to skip a few early levels in their entirety. But that simply wasn't good enough for MESHUGGAH; he decided to travel directly to level 3, where he invents his own warp and skips right to the grand finale. He took a glitch found in this TAS and exploited it further, to the point where the Game Over screen appears out of nowhere and suddenly The Dark Queen just gives up and returns Angelica and Pimple, going off to hatch an even more evil plan for next time.

This run conquers the predecessor movie by 5.74 seconds with precise luck manipulation, subpixel optimization and more successful outcome of memory corruption. This movie also won a nice frame war.

Unlike the run of the SNES version, the author, feos, uses both a Toad and a Dragon. In addition, he constantly exploits glitches removed in the SNES version. BrotherMojo improves the previous movie by 2:43.86 using better routes and more glitches. More information in Submission notes

This movie features one... no, wait, six players controlling two characters simultaneously while smashing the previous time by 2 minutes and 41 seconds. However, this publication chooses to use warps.

Interesting fact about this game is that Konami used to implement unconventional ways of piracy protection, in this particular case by making each hit or an otherwise harmful collision in the game result in an instant death if you play it illegitimately. Apparently, this was how a large amount of people were used to playing it in pre-emulation era, without ever finding out Konami's little sabotage.

This movie by AnS is set up in a fashion that imitates this handicap by playing the game in hard mode (accessing it through a password), where every hit results in death. Other than that, it also improves the previous movie by 2 minutes 48.7 seconds, using several major glitches and a lot of small tricks explained in great detail in the author's comments.

For being a minimalist variation of a pacifist goal, this movie does not contain any destruction in the levels: candles and walls are left intact, items stay untouched. No enemy is harmed, except for the bosses, who are killed mercilessly with the help of the "critical hit" glitch.

This ends up being quite a stealthy run without subweapons and only using the leather whip.

The improvement by dragonxyk comes now with Chip and Dale zipping on each other.

Like the first movie, a two-player run makes for some interesting things, like Chip and Dale carrying each other around, and heavy abuse of death to take advantage of balloons. By killing off one character, he respawns on a floating balloon, thus going ahead of the other character. Unlike the first, however, this run frequently destroys bosses by using one of the characters as a weapon. Only in the Chip 'n Dale series can such apparently irrational action be justified.

This movie, the second submission for this game by dragonxyk, is a 18.55-second improvement over the previous movie. See here for a run with just Chip.

Like in this run's predecessor, zyr2288 uses both Bill and Lance simultaneously to fire through each level. In addition, he makes use of some better routes, boss fighting strategies, and lag manipulation.

Note: This game was released under different names, such as 魂斗羅 (kontora) in Japan, and Probotector in Europe. GryZor is also used in Europe on some other systems.

Contra Force offers a selection of one of four characters, a jumping glitch involving the pause screen, and lots and lots of lag - and yet the game is still completed remarkably quickly.

In this run, Randil makes use of all given weapons to save time. The run has no music, because sound effects were chosen by default instead.

The author, CtrlAltDestroy, skips most of the puzzle rooms and gathers only the required items from the platforming stages in order to complete the game as fast as possible.

This game suffers from sprite overload very frequently.

This is the NES version of the series completed fast by the use of creative routes and of course maximum speed.

In this movie, MESHUGGAH saves time by dying on a very specific frame to skip the score countdown on the first level.

Released on many systems, this game was so popular they even released it for cellular phones and made a board game. Even a hollywood movie has been made.

This new version by adelikat is 14 seconds faster than his previous effort. Most of the improvement came from a new shortcut in level 6.

Dragon Warrior is an epic RPG series which now spans 8 games across many systems. The second game greatly expands on the first to include a party of three heroes (all descendents of Erdrick and the hero of DW1) and battles that may include many enemies.
The world is much bigger and there are many big dungeons to explore as well. Luckily there are new abilities and items to make this easier. Enemies can randomly drop items when defeated and there is a lottery which is the precursor to the casinos which appear in each later DW game. Finally, you might notice that many of the enemies in this game appear in later games, particularly DW8.

This game is known in the TAS world as being a pain to play due to the RNG (random number generator) being much harder to manipulate than most other games. As a result, seemingly random actions throughout the game are actually intentional manipulation of the RNG to ensure favourable outcomes, such as avoiding monsters or good battle outcomes.

To give you an idea of how surprising this time is to most players, the previous run is about 24 minutes longer than this one. Even before that, any run that was under 3 hours long was deemed to be very difficult to perform.

Thanks to this new method of item glitching, this is almost exactly nine minutes faster than the previous version of the run.

The author intentionally kills off his party in order to save some travel time.

The hero of this game is a spy/agent who raids buildings infested with men in black. He collects important documents from various apartments/closets (which, for the sake of simplicity, are colored indicatively), and then leaves by his car to the next raid.

After raiding the last building, he goes to raid the same buildings once again, ad infinitum.

Even a small game like this isn't free of bugs. The unsafe elevators of this game offer a few maneuvers that should not be attempted in real life.

Unfortunately only one of the warriors is actually a hero; the rest are sissies who died early on during the quests. Strange as this may sound, much time is saved by doing so since fewer commands need to be entered every time the player runs from a random encounter.

On TASVideos perfect runs are continually improved, often through very unexpected changes. This run improves the old Final Fantasy TAS by 9.11 seconds by getting lower stats and spending more time at inns and item shops.

G.I. Joe (1991) is a platformer difficult because of its intricate routes and bosses, but the author makes short work of both. In particular, this movie sports some of the shortest boss fights of any game. It also provides entertainment through varied character and vehicle use (thankfully, the game still manages not to lag immensely even with all the action thrown in).

This is an improvement of 107 seconds to the previous movie by Ferret Warlord.

The plot follows a green toy on a quest to rescue a little girl from the clutch of other toys, who were rightfully upset at her forsaking them in favor of our protagonist. What these other toys can't do, however, is conjure stars to use them both as projectiles and very effective transportation devices!

This joint venture between Aglar and Hotarubi improves the previous movie by nearly a whole minute thanks to a lot of new and refined tricks and shortcuts. They don't collect the special items required to access the 7th level, and thus get a bad ending. However, we have a "best ending" run as well just for your viewing pleasure!

In this movie, the authors aim to collect all the items to enter the secret 7th level after the boss at the end of the 6th level. They improve the previous movie by 2 minutes and 15 seconds.

The game cartridge of Gimmick! contains a special microchip, FME7, which extends the number of sound channels in the game from 5 to 8, creating a more melodic soundtrack than in most other NES games.

This is probably one of the best illustrations on how to create art out of a simplistic and otherwise uninteresting game to watch.

What is also different about this movie is an extra warp which significantly shortens the game, and the use of a new tool (input macro) as described in the submission text. Bots are occasionally used to generate pseudorandom input while still avoiding death.

In this game version, feos uses all available items to speed up, managing their amounts very precisely, takes damage boosts to cross gaps and reach tops, ignoring normal elevators, and abuses the hell out of his lifebar. James Jr. is a brave Bond!
