Street Fighter Zero 3 (ストリートファイターZERO3), more known like Alpha 3, was released in 1998.

SFZ/A3 is an evolution of the previous Zero series, and there was a huge improvement in the fight style, combos, animations/mode and with addition of fighters that were missing in Street Fighter Alpha or Zero.

Brain Age (also known as Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training) is a puzzle game designed on the premise of exercising your brain. In this run, for example, the idea is to solve a series of simple mathematical puzzles.

And yet, the answers given... are not exactly what you'd expect.

The same author of the previous run brings you a set of 51 new ... answers, with extra time taken to provide you, the viewer, with the greatest possible attention to detail. Additionally, the increased detail provides a higher level of difficulty, to prevent the number recognition from checking the answer before the image is complete.

If you liked how the machine's drawing recognition system got abused in this movie, you must also check the troubles TAS brings the text recognition system into.

Dawn of Sorrow (2005), the first installment of Castlevania on Nintendo DS, is a direct sequel to GBA hit Aria of Sorrow. Everyone is trying to kill our hero Soma Cruz, since in the previous game he absorbed all of Dracula's attributes. You can always trust weird cults to try and bring about the end of the world by unleashing this power.

The game is so fully broken at this point though, that there really is no plot in this run. Or final boss. Or much of anything at all. Using improved versions of the glitches used in its predecessor, this movie completes the game in half the time. More details about the glitches can be found in the author's comments.

The second Castlevania title released on Nintendo DS after Dawn of Sorrow, this game is a direct sequel to Bloodlines on Sega Genesis. Dracula rises from the dead yet again (cue groan), and it's up to Jonathan Morris, helped out by Charlotte Aulin, a powerful mage student, to defeat him.

Beating Dracula into a pile of dust in under five minutes wasn't enough for our heroes, so this time they wreck his entire castle and surrounding areas before killing him. Every boss is slain, so you get to see more of that fast "showtime" action. Significant glitching is used; read the author's comments for more information.

The glitched Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow main quest TAS has become even more glitched. Using an obscure out-of-room travel technique involving in-game saving and subsequent dying, klmz ploughs through the game with confident pace of a cold-blooded killing machine in a little under seven minutes — a whole 31.72 seconds faster than the previous movie by the same author!

We recommend reading the author's comments for more information on the death warp glitch and other time-saving techniques used to make this improvement happen.

In Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance, the Belmont clan must again rise to the challenge: Dracula's castle is in disarray and is in serious need of an interior decorator! In this movie, Juste Belmont zips through walls, under floors, and over zombies with the very important task of rearranging furniture. (He also defeats Dracula and rescues his best friends along the way, but that's not very important.)

This movie is a 4:13.81 improvement over its predecessor, with route changes and more efficient kills speeding it up.

The main quest completion time has been shortened to nearly one fourth of what it initially was, thanks to the discovery of a glitch that allows Juste to sink into walls.

This is a 3:25.15 minute improvement over klmz's movie. Like in the previous movies, the author picked up an item to display those cool CRITICAL's for entertainment, at the cost of some time.

However, if you still think there is not enough zipping through walls, be sure to watch the second quest completed in less than half a minute!

Kuru Kuru Kururin is an unusual game that is a mix of racing/puzzle genres. The player controls a slowly spinning stick called the Helirin, and must maneuver it through a series of mazes. The player controls the direction and speed of movement but not the Helirin's constant rotation. In this fast paced TAS Ryuto chooses to ignore damage penalties in exchange for blazing fast realtime completion and creative methods of getting around the Helirin's forced rotation to squeeze into even the tiniest of gaps.

Kururin Paradise is the sequel to Kuru Kuru Kururin. Once again you control the Helirin, but this time you have a small measure of control over its rotation. This extra control allowed Ryuto to create a movie that can aim for fastest time without taking damage.

Also added to the sequel are several strange and entertaining minigames, such as using the Helirin to mow grass or attack intruding enemies Space Invaders style.

Monster House is a 2006 animated film about a haunted house and three children trying to best it. The movie was reasonably successful; so like most successful movies, it got a spinoff game.

While it is not the most interesting game ever during normal play, Monster House becomes much more interesting when it's thoroughly broken. Here, the author uses an out of bounds glitch to break the game, allowing for quite a bit of time saving.

Keitai Denjū Telefang (携帯電獣テレファング) is a series of video games produced by Smilesoft and published by Natsume. The games are monster-battling games, where the player contacts various creatures using a cell phone-like device called a D-Shot in order to get them to battle the foes he or she will encounter. The name of the series derives from Keitai, which is Japanese for "cell phone," since phoning creatures is an integral part of the game, and "fang," to symbolize the various beasts involved.

This movie improves its predecessor by more than a half of a minute. Significant glitching is used; you will likely have to read the authors' comments to understand what's going on.

Pokémon Gold and Silver form the second generation of Pokémon, after Pokémon Red and Blue. The main differences between the generations is that the game is now in full color, and that there are 250 Pokémon instead of 151.

This movie plays through Pokémon Gold in a fairly fast manner, catching only a half dozen Pokémon in the process, but acquiring all the gym badges, and ultimately beating the protagonist of the previous generation of Pokémon games.

The author of this movie, FractalFusion, has written very extensive details of anything regarding this movie, including even some of the mathematical formulas used by the game. As usual, we recommend reading these comments.

Ash reveals his dark side, using save corruption and direct memory manipulation to catch 152 Pokémon in the blink of an eye. Then he beats the game in less than a minute (in-game time) - without ever leaving his own room, bypassing Professor Oak's speech by walking through a television, bumping into a wall, and having the game inform him about 1 error.

This run is so glitchy that it's near impossible to follow what's going on without help; reading the author's notes is highly recommended.

The TASVideos record movie for Pokémon: Yellow Version is a glitchfest that has Ash cataloging every Pokémon in slightly over a minute. Is there any way to get more ridiculous than that? Using nothing but the Game Boy controller and tool-assisted precision, the game is made to run an arbitrary program. See the author's comments for the technical details.

This movie improves upon its predecessor by never having to leave Ash's room to gain full control of execution flow. However, the predecessor has a very different kind of payload at the end. Be sure to see the last minute of the previous movie as well.

This movie was submitted on March 14 - "Pi Day", and contains many many references to π. See how many you can find.

Basically, FractalFusion in this run applies the idea that TASing is programming input rather than playing the game. To see more examples of that, be guided by this post.

Award - GBx TAS of 2010
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX is an updated version of an older GB game to add colour graphics, an additional dungeon, various other minor features, and a lot of bug fixes. Link, after rescuing Hyrule (again?), sets off on a journey and subsequently shipwrecks on the mysterious Koholint Island, which has been overtaken by evil monsters which he must defeat in order to find a way back home.

Through a wide variety of glitches and general optimisations, this is now almost ten minutes faster than the previous full run of this game.

This run does not make use of a form of warp glitching, but still demonstrates that they obviously didn't fix as many bugs as they thought.

Surprisingly, much of the game engine is completely different and developed by Capcom. In it, the Oracle of Seasons, Din, is kidnapped by Onox, General of Darkness. Link must travel throughout both Holdrum and Subrosia to collect the 8 Essences of Nature, power up the Rod of Seasons, and defeat Onox.

This game has been attempted by various authors over the past 5 years. Finally, SwordlessLink, along with Tompa, who joined the project after dungeon 4, beat this legendary game in 1:25:57.21 primarily through the use of pitwalking, Pegasus Seeds, and enemy manipulation. Please see the authors' notes for more details.

Final Fantasy Adventure is the first game of the Seiken Densetsu (聖剣伝説) series, but it does contain some classic Final Fantasy elements. The series is probably best known for the SNES game Secret of Mana. This game was later remade on the Game Boy Advance as Sword of Mana. Its gameplay resembles that of a The Legend of Zelda game, but with level building.

In this run, Touch-me utilizes a glitch to warp across the map, cutting down the completion time by a lot compared to the warpless run. He also improves the previous glitched run by 51:22.56 minutes thanks to a big new warp glitch that allows him to reach the top of the Tower of Gemma early.

Final Fantasy Legend II (Sa・Ga2 秘宝伝説, Sa・Ga2 - The Treasure Legend) is a role-playing game developed by Square and is the second game in the SaGa series. You take on the role of one of eight different characters of varying race and gender who leaves on a journey to find his or her lost father and recover the Magi, pieces of a magical statue of the goddess Isis.

In this run, knbnitkr abuses several glitches (including one which can only be performed on the initial Japanese release) to beat the game far quicker than intended. For more information, see the author's comments.

Tatanga is back after being beaten in the regular-mode run of this game, and he kidnapped Princess Daisy again. Daisy is not a pilot, so she is unable to escape from her prison in the sky, despite there being a freely accessible aircraft in the vicinity.

Mario must travel through the four Kingdoms of Birabuto, Muda, Easton, and Chai once again to rescue Daisy. Although this time around, they're packed with much more enemies than before.

This run has much more action than the regular mode of Super Mario Land, due to the increased amount of enemies, yet it is only slightly slower. If you liked TASs of Super Mario Land before now, wait until you see this.

Note: This movie begins from a save state from the end of regular mode in order to access hard mode. There is no other way to access it outside of a hack. We normally do not accept movies which begin from a save state.

Note: This movie requires conversion in order to be played in sync on VBA rerecording v23.

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening is a classic Game Boy Zelda adventure. Link must travel across the dream world of Koholint Island, collecting the 8 Instruments to wake the Wind Fish and go home after a terrible shipwreck.

bobmario511 (the author), however, realized that "Hey, I'm in a dream. That means I can do anything I want!" With that in mind, he embarks on a journey as the legendary hero THIEF to live out his wildest fantasies. Unfortunately, he would soon find out that this dream would end up being the worst nightmare of his life, traveling through a chaotic world devoid of any logic, meaning, or consistent appearance. Summoning the power of all of the allies he can get, our hero, BowWow, Marin, a ghost, and a flying rooster travel together to make sense of the nonsensical hell of Link's own imagination, collecting what he believes to be the 8 Instruments and Secret Seashells on their way.

bobmario511 (the author), however, decided collecting instruments for a one-man band was a waste of time, so he skipped all of that and went straight to the Wind Fish (with a pesky boss battle in the middle).

This is a 0.56 second improvement over the previous run. See the author's notes for more details.

Bomberman 64 (爆ボンバーマン Baku Bonbāman) is the first 3-D game within the Bomberman series. It also implements a different single-player mode by incorporating action-adventure and platforming stages, instead of arenas in which enemies or other elements must be destroyed.

This TAS is played on the Japanese version because of its shorter intro.

This run of Bomberman 64 achieves 100% status, which means earning 120 gold cards and all custom parts (alternate costumes for multiplayer modes). To acquire the prime "gold parts", players must obtain 120 gold cards within three hours of in-game time on hard mode.

Watch zvsp blast through the stages and collect the cards very quickly. Many bomb-stacking glitches are used to skip areas. Some cards require killing a certain minimum number of enemies, so you'll also get to see Bomberman blow up lots of enemies. Also, the player dies on purpose several times, for deathwarps and as shortcuts for some cards in hazardous conditions.

Also, see the any% run by Nahoc. For more Bomberman goodness, check out more Bomberman Movies.

Although the length of this movie is 21:50.6 when timed with our standard method, applying the timing method used by most Zelda speedrunners (until last hit on Ganon) would result in a final time of 18:46.85. It's important to note this so that there's no confusion about which runs are faster than the others.

In this TAS of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the author aims to beat the game as quickly as possible. He achieves this by exploiting a large sequence break which involves "tricking" the game into warping Link directly from the Deku Tree (the first dungeon) to Ganon's Castle. Child Link then goes on conquering the whole Castle without a single thought about becoming an Adult beforehand.

Despite how quickly this game can be beaten these days, this run is almost one minute faster than its predecessor thanks to a new trick at the Tower Collapse Sequence and many small improvements throughout the run.

This TAS was done using the Japanese version of the game. The reason for this is that the text is significantly faster than in the English version, which means that far less time is spent waiting for text boxes and cut scenes to end before getting back to the action.

The author's notes explain in great detail many of the things done in this TAS, which may be confusing to those who aren't familiar with Ocarina of Time speedrunning. Reading them is strongly advised.

In this TAS of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the author aims to beat the game as quickly as possible while completing all dungeons, temples, and Ganon Trials. This goal is commonly referred to as "all temples", "all dungeons", or "MST (Medallions/Stones/Trials)".

This run has roughly 35 minutes of improvements in gameplay over the previous TAS of its kind.

This movie contains several new glitches and sequence breaks which allow for a much faster completion than were possible when the last run was made. Several large glitches in the game are not used in the run, such as those which allow the player to manipulate memory addresses to obtain items without physically picking them up. These are avoided because it would make the completion of any dungeon completely arbitrary; they can be seen in an old any% run.

Unlike the previous movie of this category, this TAS is played on the Japanese version of the game. The reason for this is that the text is significantly faster than in the English version, which means that far less time (roughly 12 minutes) is spent waiting for text boxes and cut scenes to end before getting back to the action. English subtitles were added to the encode for people interested in what was said.

The author's notes explain in great detail many of the things done in this TAS which may be confusing to those who aren't familiar with Ocarina of Time speedrunning. Reading them is strongly advised.

Yoshi's Story (1997), a loose follow-up to Yoshi's Island, tracks the adventures of the Yoshi clan as they attempt to reclaim the Super Happy Tree after it is stolen by Baby Bowser. This apparently involves eating copious amounts of fruit in an effort to find happiness for themselves.

Here, the Yoshis stuff their faces so quickly one wonders if this is an adventure or an all-you-can-eat banquet.

Crystalis is an awesome action rpg by SNK. What little plot there is involves the world ending on October 1, 1997. Naturally, after that the world became full of mutants and monsters. Technology regresses and people can use magic. There is an evil empire trying to revive the ancient technology, specifically the obligatory tower floating in the sky. The hero pops out of some sort of stasis chamber and proceeds to topple the empire and take down the tower with the help of some wise men and a friendly dolphin. There's a heroine named Mesia, but she only shows up a few times, most of which are skipped in this run.

This beats the previous run by almost 12 minutes. As with that run, the second-controller cheats are off-limits (the fm2 only has data for controller 1). Other than that, no holds are barred. Many new glitches are used. For a complete list, see the game resources page. Movement is faster by abusing the no-subpixel engine. Much effort went into lag reduction, especially in certain areas. However, the vast majority of the time savings is due to better experience management.

We recommend watching the movie on an emulator and using the author's LUA script. There's quite a bit of useful information.

The second Dragon Warrior game beaten as fast as possible.

Dragon Warrior is an epic RPG series which now spans 8 games across many systems. The second game greatly expands on the first to include a party of three heroes (all descendents of Erdrick and the hero of DW1) and battles that may include many enemies.
The world is much bigger and there are many big dungeons to explore as well. Luckily there are new abilities and items to make this easier. Enemies can randomly drop items when defeated and there is a lottery which is the precursor to the casinos which appear in each later DW game. Finally, you might notice that many of the enemies in this game appear in later games, particularly DW8.

Final Fantasy is one of those games which needs no introduction to most gamers. For the rest of you, the game follows four generic heroes who are trying to restore the four orbs which have been contaminated, and ultimately defeat Chaos.

Unfortunately only one of the warriors is actually a hero; the rest are sissies who died early on during the quests. Strange as this may sound, much time is saved by doing so since fewer commands need to be entered every time the player runs from a random encounter.

On TASVideos perfect runs are continually improved, often through very unexpected changes. This run improves the old Final Fantasy TAS by 9.11 seconds by getting lower stats and spending more time at inns and item shops.

For those who think they have a better sense of humor than the author, he has provided python scripts which allow you to recreate the entire run, except with your own choices for character names substituted for his. Available as Windows standalone or source.

This is a full completion of Metroid, meaning that all items (100%) were collected.

This is a 8 minute 16 second improvement over the previous movie by Zoizite. Much of the improvement comes from using the Up+A restart sequence, though many new shortcuts and optimizations also save time.

Metroid completed using just one item: the morphing ball.

Uses a game restart sequence (Up+A on second controller) to save time in backtracking.

This is an improvement of 36.7 seconds over the previously published run, thanks to a new route and general optimisation.

This movie features commentary by the author, which has been added to the encode in the form of soft subtitles. If watching embedded stream via Archive.org, you can press the nearly invisible commentary button on the top right corner to see the commentary.

Metroid completed as fast as possible without holding back, and without concern for the game's sanity.

A wealth of new tricks contribute to this 33 second improvement over the previous movie.

The run uses a game restart sequence (Up+A on the second controller) to save time in backtracking.

See Metroid Tricks for more information about the door glitch as well as other tips and tricks.

Andy Dick has made a video which plays this run on top of the game map. This provides a unique perspective on the door warping glitches.

Spiritual Warfare (1992) is an unlicensed NES game created by Wisdom Tree. The company specializes in the niche market of Christian-themed video games. The gameplay in Spiritual Warfare is very similar to The Legend of Zelda (1986). The game's story is taken directly from the Bible (Ephesians 6:12-18):

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Therefore, take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day and, having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girded about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness,
15 and your feet shod with the preparation of the Gospel of peace.
16 Above all, take the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God,
18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

The Christian concept of spiritual warfare is a metaphor for fully accepting whatever Christ teaches. The ongoing spiritual war against Satan requires the whole armor of God, meaning that a faithful Christian should always obey the Lord's authority in order to defeat evil.

The author of the TAS utterly ignores the philosophy of obtaining the whole armor of God in order to defeat Satan. The power of prayer, rather than the Helmet of Salvation, is enough to protect the hero's physical body from dynamite explosions.

Of all the challenging ways to play Legend of Zelda that people have attempted on a NES console, one of the most famous is the "swordless" challenge. In this challenge, the player must beat all of the game, up until the final boss Ganon, without using a sword. It is not possible to damage Ganon without a sword however, so many swordless runs reach Ganon's room to die there.

In order to actually complete the game, Baxter does pick up a sword and kills Ganon. However, the sword is only obtained shortly before attempting the final level, and even then, the sword is not used until absolutely necessary. In the meantime, sit back and watch a run which relies heavily on luck manipulation and effective bomb usage to beat the game very quickly. For more details, see the author's comments.

This is a 86-second improvement over the previous movie by jprofit22.

The Legend of Zelda (ゼルダの伝説) is an adventure game that needs no introduction to most NES players.

It is a large game that normally takes days to beat, but at TASVideos, we often reduce games to the minimum necessary in order to complete them.

This is the fifth The Legend of Zelda TAS at this site (not counting the alternate movies), and is ~85 seconds faster than the previous movie, largely due to better optimization and manipulation of item drops.

Although Legacy of Llylgamyn is the third game in the Wizardry series, it was released second for the NES because Knight of Diamonds, the actual second game, was deemed to be too difficult for beginners (though it was, eventually, released for the NES as well).

Here, the object of the quest, the Orb of Earithin, mysteriously appears in a shop by way of a lost battle and a glitch involving the occasional result thereof of causing a character to be lost in the dungeon, bringing the quest to a close impossibly quickly.

Zanac is one of those space shooter games in which you are trying to save the earth.

Due to the highly repetitive nature of this game, the hidden 9th input button (the console's Reset button) is used to enable stage select to warp to the final (12th) level. This results in an unusually long gray screen at the start of the movie. Starting on the final level with 3 lives and only the initial pea-shooter for a weapon normally makes the game near impossible to win.

This is the author's 4th iteration of this movie. It improves on the previous publication by almost 10 seconds by utilizing a hidden fairy and by better boss optimization.

Legend of Zelda II glitched heavily.

Most of this run features Link racing across Hyrule so fast that the screen can't keep up, inexplicably warping between places that shouldn't be connected, and collecting just three items, one spell, and one sword technique needed to beat the final palace.

Dark Link, the final boss, takes the same amount of damage no matter what level attack you have. This is especially convenient for the author because he reaches Dark Link without ever leveling, or, indeed, even killing another monster.

This is a 29-second improvement to the author's previous movie due to a different route choice and better manipulation optimization. See the author's comments for details.

A non-glitched run of the black sheep in the Zelda series, shortened by about 18 seconds.

This movie avoids pressing Left and Right at the same time which causes an acceleration bug that can massively glitch the game.

Contrary to the other Rondo of Blood TASes on the site, this one not only goes through the hurdles of saving three useless villagers from their prisons (with some of said prisons even resembling their regular habitats), but also plays through all the picturesque levels just to prove that Maria isn't really a suboptimal character. Like most games in Castlevania series, Symphony of the Night has different possible endings. To achieve the best ending, one must explore at least 1847 rooms which is normally a huge time consuming task. While traveling through all those rooms, the author also acquires all of the relics, making this an "all relics and best ending" run.

During the exploring, the player can unlock different abilities for Alucard which make him able to reach new areas. Some of these abilities are used to gain a tremendous speed and glitch through routes which players could not have even dreamed in 1997.

Mole Mania, known as Moguranya (モグラ~ニャ) in Japan, is an action puzzle game. The main character is a mole named Muddy Mole, whose wife and children have been kidnapped by the farmer, Jinbe. Muddy has to go to Jinbe Land and save his family. In the game, the player will solve puzzles by moving a black ball to a gate. However, there are many obstacles and enemies in the way. Therefore the player will dig into ground to find ways around them.

While Chrono Trigger (1995) usually takes days to complete, Crono decided he'd rather not have to sit through all the unnecessary stuff, like long cutscenes, unskippable boss fights and key plot events, so he did it in three minutes instead.

The 18-minute improvement comes from utilizing mid-frame resets which were recently implemented in lsnes.

Final Fantasy V is probably the least known of the Final Fantasy series on the SNES, because it was never published in the USA.

This movie plays through the game in three and a half hours. We recommend reading the author’s comments regarding this movie to understand the manipulation used.

The boss battles, including the last boss, might be somewhat anticlimactic in this movie due to the use of a one-hit-kill spell (L5 Doom) which was made to work by varying means in each battle.

Note: Because this game was never released in the USA and our rules regarding fan translations are a bit strict, all text in this movie is in Japanese.

This run aims for best score, then fastest time. A lot of hole-in-ones are scored, even at great time expense.

Note that there is a second series of courses which are similar to the original set. These are played as well for sport, before attacking the final boss and winning.

Pilotwings is a flight simulator game from Nintendo for the SNES. The player earns pilot's licenses through light plane, skydiving, rocketbelt, and hang gliding events.

This run clears all 8 lessons and the 2 helicopter missions without ever piloting the light plane.

A Secret of Mana TAS has finally come to TASVideos!

Secret of Mana is a widely popular action RPG published by Square. It is internationally regarded as the first game of the Mana series, though the Japanese title is Seiken Densetsu 2, so it is the sequel of Final Fantasy Adventure. It utilizes real-time battles like many other action RPGs while including some unique features such as the Ring Command and multiplayer action.

Touch-me beats the game very quickly, using three players simultaneously and a whole host of glitches. For instance, many bosses can be hit for 999 instant damage using a charge counter glitch, and certain plot points are skipped. See the submission comments for more details.

- Starts from a saved state or SRAM
- Genre: Racing
Super Mario Kart is the first in a popular series of games starring the Mario cast racing go-karts. This run aims to get record times in all tracks at 150cc difficulty. This is achieved mostly by jumping straight into walls, bottomless pits, and lava, among many other things. Mushrooms are also used frequently due to their mysteriously friction-free propulsion powers. A high amount of wall-bouncing is required.

This run is over a minute and a half faster than the previous published run, due to new exploits of the definition of a lap.

- Contains speed/entertainment tradeoffs
- 100% completion
- Takes damage to save time
- Uses a game restart sequence
- Forgoes time-saving glitches
- Genre: Platform
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is a vibrant, colorful and fun game that stars the popular Yoshi. From a technical standpoint, the game is very exceptional on the SNES due to its use of the SuperFX² coprocessor. The chip allows for many cool special effects that are otherwise impossible on the SNES.

This is a 100% completion of the game. It plays through all the levels and collects every item that contributes to end-of-level score: 5 flowers, 20 red coins, and 30 stars. By getting 100% completion in each stage, six extra stages are also unlocked. These are played at the end of the run, again with 100% scores.

The authors of the run have spent over three years working on this run, showing off plenty of egg juggling, precise shots, and other incredible antics. This run does not use certain glitches present in the other runs of the game (an any% run and a warp glitch run), but there should still be plenty to surprise you. Reading the authors' lengthy comments is recommended.

This movie features a perfect example of what can occur when TASers will go to any extreme to sequence break a long game. Very little that is recognizable remains. Cpadolf forgoes key items, yet bothers to collect the X-Ray scope, an item normally useless to an experienced Super Metroid player.

With the use of X-Ray Scope to get out of the rooms' bounds, some non-trivial physics abuse, and esoteric RAM data manipulation via dying in a certain room, the amount of tasks Samus usually has to do on Zebes has been cut to almost nothing. No boss is ever fought in this TAS, and even Mother Brain is skipped completely. The in-game completion time is 00:12. Only 6% of the items are collected.

This is an improvement of 10.44 seconds real-time, or 2.38 seconds in-game, over the previous glitched any% run.

The peculiar effects of the Space/Time Beam, if properly utilized, can cut this run's time further in half. The movie will have to begin from a savestate, but Samus will start the game fully powered-up, so item collection and all detours associated with it are no longer required.
Such a movie, also made by Cpadolf, can be found here; its completion time is 12:46 (00:06 by the in-game timer).

Full completion of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Both this run and the short version use a wobbling trick in order to make Link walk a bit faster. The execution of this maneuver requires the usage of a controller that allows the player to press Up+Down simultaneously (such as, in this case, a modified Snes9x's controller). The traveling-through-walls trick that is seen in the short version is not used.

This run features an improvement of a little over 4 minutes.

Please read the welcome page if you haven't already done so. It explains the rules and methods that apply to all of these movies, particularly the use of savestates and frame advance. Also refer to our Glossary to understand terms we use, such as TAS or other unfamiliar terms.
