The first quest completion time of this fast paced game got nearly cut in half thanks to Juste's ability to sink into walls when going at very high speed. Please, don't try this at home!

This is a 56 second improvement over the author's previous movie.

However, if you still think there is not enough zipping through walls, make sure to see the second quest completed in less than half a minute!

Selected quotes from JXQ:
Come follow on the adventure through a castle that contains no less than eighty clashing colors in each room! Be amazed as Juste Belmont, Simon's grandson, has to do the usual vampire hunting despite looking nothing like his grandfather (or a man at all). Question his motives when he takes time out of his rescue mission to decorate the basement he will soon destroy! Feel the pain as Juste struggles to understand that there actually are two castles!! (Ouch my brain!)

Yet another Sonic run by nitsuja. This time around the game doesn't allow running faster than the camera can follow. However it does allow team play constantly. This run is refreshing compared to other Sonic runs because of how different it is. Yet like the others, it does not collect the Chaos Emeralds.

It is recommended to read the author's novel to see why he chose to do many of the things he did.

After becoming the Hero of Hyrule, Link is sent off by Zelda to study to be a proper Elf. On the way, he gets shipwrecked on a mysterious island taken over by evil, which he then tries to free to make his way back home.

In this movie Chef Stef takes a unique route through the game exploiting many glitches to completely skip parts of the game that you are normally required to play. If you like Zelda, and you like glitches, this is the movie to watch.

This is movie is nearly 5 minutes faster that the author's previous movie. There were many improvements. We recommend reading the author's comments.

We also have a movie of the Game Boy version (no DX), which skips a lot more of the game.

Pokémon Gold, and its sister, Pokémon Silver, are of the next generation of Pokémon, after Pokémon Red and Blue.
Among noticeable differences is that the game is now colourful, and that there are over 250 Pokémon instead of around 150.

This movie plays through Pokémon Gold in a fairly fast manner, catching only a half dozen Pokémon in the process, but acquiring all the gym badges, and ultimately beating the protagonist of the earlier generation Pokémon games.

The author of this movie, FractalFusion, has written very extensive details of anything regarding this movie, including even some of the mathematical formulas used by the game. As usual, we recommend reading it.

Final Fantasy Adventure is the first game of the Seiken Densetsu (聖剣伝説) series but it does contains some classic Final Fantasy elements. The series is probably best known for the SNES game Secret of Mana. This game was later remade on the Gameboy Advance as Sword of Mana. Gameplay is quite similar to a Zelda game, however there is level building.

In this run, MattyXB demonstrates how to flawlessly beat the game. What's unusual is that he also uses some glitches to completely skip parts in the game saving over 20 minutes. The "Power" option is selected on every level-up.

Those trying to follow the story in this movie will have a hard time, since the main characters were both named "A" and integral points in the story were skipped.

The Legend of Zelda - Link's Awakening is a classic Game Boy Zelda adventure. Link must travel across the dream world of Koholint Island, collecting the 8 Instruments to wake the Wind Fish and go home after a terrible shipwreck.

Swordless Link (the author), however, decided collecting instruments for a one-man band was a waste of time, so he skipped all of that and went straight to the Wind Fish (with a pesky boss battle in the middle).

The author improved the run by 11.22 seconds, which was mostly achieved by using a new route.

If you liked this, be sure to also check out the Game Boy Color version (DX), which completes all the dungeons.

Selected comments from the author:
The second Dragon Warrior game beaten as fast as possible.

Dragon Warrior is an epic RPG series which now spans 8 games across many systems. The second game greatly expands on the first to include a party of three heroes (all descendents of Erdrick and the hero of DW1) and battles that may include many enemies.
The world is much bigger and there are many big dungeons to explore as well. Luckily there are new abilities and items to make this easier. Enemies can randomly drop items when defeated and there is a lottery which is the precursor to the casinos which appear in each later DW game. Finally, you might notice that many of the enemies in this game appear in later games, particularly DW8.

Legend of Zelda (ゼルダの伝説) is an adventure game that needs no introduction to most NES players.

It is a large game that normally takes days to beat, but at TASvideos, we often reduce games to the minimum necessary in order to complete them.

This is the fifth Legend of Zelda TAS at this site (not counting the second quest movie), and is ~85 seconds faster than the previous movie, due to a completely new route, better strategies and luck manipulation, glitches and some new techniques according to the authors. It took about 1½. years to complete.

Legend of Zelda 2 glitched heavily.

Most of this run features Link racing across Hyrule so fast that the screen can't keep up, inexplicably warping between places that shouldn't be connected, and collecting just three items, one spell, and one sword technique needed to beat the final palace.

Dark Link, the final boss, takes the same amount of damage no matter what level attack you have. This is especially convenient for the author because he reaches Dark Link without ever leveling, or, indeed, even killing another monster.

This is a 29-second improvement to the author's previous movie due to a different route choice and better manipulation optimization, see the author's comments for details.

Final Fantasy V is probably the least known of the Final Fantasy series on the SNES, because it was never published in the USA.

This movie plays through the game in three and a half hours -- TODO: explain how.

The boss battles, including the last boss, might be somewhat anticlimactic in this movie due to the use of a one-hit-kill spell (L5 Doom) which was made to work by varying means in each battle.

We recommend reading the author’s comments regarding this movie.

Note: Because this game was never released in the USA and our rules regarding fan translations are a bit strict, all text in this movie is in Japanese. However, we may release English subtitles for this movie soon.

Kirby is a spherical character, so naturally it makes sense that he should be whacked around like a golf ball. A ball that can absorb the powers of enemies and use them to his advantage, of course!

This run aims for best score, then fastest time. A lot of hole-in-ones are scored, even at great time expense.

Note that there is a second series of courses which are similar to the original set. These are played as well for sport, before attacking the final boss and winning.

Super Mario Kart is the first in a popular series of games starring the Mario cast racing go-karts. This run aims to get record times in all tracks at 150cc difficulty. This is achieved mostly by jumping straight into walls, bottomless pits, and lava, among many other things. Mushrooms are also used frequently due to their mysteriously friction-free propulsion powers. A high amount of wall-bouncing is required.

This run is over a minute and a half faster than the previous published run, due to new exploits of the definition of a lap.

A version of Snes9x that supports reset is required to play the SMV movie.

Full completion of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Both this run and the short version use a wobbling trick in order to make Link walk a bit faster. The execution of this maneuver requires the usage of a controller that allows the player to press Up+Down simultaneously (such as, in this case, a modified Snes9x's controller). The traveling-through-walls trick that is seen in the short version is not used.
