Nathan Graves is a vampire hunter trying to save his master, Morris, from the clutches of Dracula. Normally this would require collecting lots of different items as well as hours of leveling, but Cardboard proves collectible cards passé by gathering almost none of the cards required for spells and blazing through the game at warp speed without regard to levels or his own safety.

This movie is a 10.5 second improvement over the author's previous movie through various small & thorough optimizations.

The first quest completion time of this fast paced game got nearly cut in half thanks to Juste's ability to sink into walls when going at very high speed. Please, don't try this at home!

This is a 56 second improvement over the author's previous movie.

However, if you still think there is not enough zipping through walls, make sure to see the second quest completed in less than half a minute!

Selected quotes from JXQ:
Come follow on the adventure through a castle that contains no less than eighty clashing colors in each room! Be amazed as Juste Belmont, Simon's grandson, has to do the usual vampire hunting despite looking nothing like his grandfather (or a man at all). Question his motives when he takes time out of his rescue mission to decorate the basement he will soon destroy! Feel the pain as Juste struggles to understand that there actually are two castles!! (Ouch my brain!)

This time Wily is back, or actually forwards – in time that is; where he plans to destroy the future and bring back technology to destroy the past. Join Mega Man as he too travels to the future to prevent Wily and face his greatest enemy yet.

This run doesn't really perform any mind boggling glitches like some other Mega Man runs on this site, but it still has the same classic action, and pulls off some very unlikely maneuvers that are enjoyable to watch.

This is an 8 second improvement over the author's previous movie.

The Game Boy series is a little different from the NES series in that there are only four Robot Masters to fight at the start. Those four are borrowed from the NES game of the same number, while four more Robot Masters from the next NES game guard Dr. Wily’s fortress. Game Boy Wily also likes to have a backup fortress in space after his first one is beaten. Another recurring concept in the Game Boy games is a ninth robot boss unique to the game who gives you a new weapon that is usually the only weapon effective against the final boss.

We recommend reading the author’s comments of this movie ― there is a lot of it.

Bisqwit: The soundtrack of this game sucks and is put together by some very inexperienced composer. (Most of the themes are remixes of NES Rockman themes.)

Another installment of the Megaman series. Unlike some of the other games in the Megaman series, this one is quite solid and has no noteworthy glitches in it. Despite that though, many creative techniques were employed by Bag of Magic Food to beat each level as fast as possible. There is also many near misses of enemy fire in this game, making it very enjoyable to watch.

For those of you who enjoy listening to the music, the background music in this one is quite good, and the sound quality is much better than previous Megaman games for the system.

A simple platformer (similar to some Mario games) that illustrates damage abuse well. The player does not go out of the way to pick up items.

8 Eyes is a Castlevania clone, and probably the best known game made by the obscure NES game company Taxan. It features two characters, the human Orin and his falcon Cutrus, in either 1 or 2 player mode. Cutrus can attack enemies, hit switches, collect items, and generally do all sorts of useful things.

The game also allows you to attack levels in whatever order you like, and much like the Mega Man games, there's a certain sequence that makes the bosses easier.

Rating: 6.4 (14 votes)
- Aims for fastest time

- Genre: Puzzle
Adventures of Lolo (1989) was the first game of the Eggerland series that received a Western release. The series itself is rather loosely related to Kirby series: both have been developed by the same company (HAL Laboratory), and Eggerland protagonists Lolo and Lala make cameo appearances in Kirby games as Lololo and Lalala.

The goal of the game is to collect all hearts in every stage, then get the ball from the chest to open the door to the next room.

Lolo may seem simplistic, but it remains being a truly well-made puzzle. Finding optimal solutions to most of the rooms has proven to be a very nontrivial task, and every once in a while a new improvement is found.

As such, this is Baxter's 10th attempt at this game, this time only 14 frames faster than the previous. Two rooms have been improved.

Important! For the weak-spirited who aren't willing to watch the run all over again only for the improved rooms, the author has inserted an easter egg into the key input movie! If you run the same .fcm on the NES game Defenders of the Crown, it will as well complete it in just 3 minutes and 38 seconds.

Use "Defenders of the Crown (U).nes" ROM to watch it.

The Battle of Olympus (オリュンポスの戦い) is set in ancient Greece. A mortal man named Orpheus receives help from the gods and nymphs in his quest to save his lover Helene from Hades. People often compare this game with Zelda 2 because of its similar gameplay.

This movie is 9:11 faster than Arc's version, mostly because of the utilization of a gameplay-altering glitch: pressing Left+Right simultaneously in order to make Orpheus move with almost unlimited velocity growth. The trick is documented at Battle of Olympus Tricks.

The route used in this movie is decided by a few things the hero (Orpheus) must do:

  • Collect three fragments of love in order to activate the Tartarus entry.
  • Get a key to access the second fragment's location.
  • Get the Eyeball of Graeae to see invisible doors (to access the first fragment's location).
  • Get a sword in Peloponnesus. It is needed to kill the three-headed guardian with respawning heads (Cerberus) in Tartarus.
  • Collect 60 olives in order to buy the ocarina, which will be needed to cross the sea to get to Crete and Tartarus.
  • Get a harp in order to call Pegasus. It makes the route faster.

If science fiction is to be believed, the ultimate evolution for biological beings is to discard the physical body and become an entity of pure energy. For video game characters, it seems to be the ability to zip through walls. In this latest TAS by zggzdydp, Simon Belmont joins the league of characters possessing this ability.

Castlevania II: Simon's Quest is the story of Simon's horrible weekend without sleep. Two years after defeating Dracula, the hero is physically weakened by Dracula's curse. He must gather Dracula's remains and incinerate them at the ruins of Castlevania in order to end the curse.

This movie is 2 minutes and 23 seconds faster than the previous effort by the same author. We recommend to read his comments for explanations on how this improvement was achieved.

Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse (originally known as 悪魔城伝説 or Akumajō Densetsu, meaning "Legend of the Demon Castle") is the story of Trevor Belmont's battle against Dracula from the times before Simon's battle in Castlevania. In this complex and difficult game, there are three playable allies whom Trevor can recruit: Alucard (Dracula's son), Grant DaNasty (a pirate captain), and Sypha Belnades (a mystic warlord).

This game has a technically high-quality soundtrack because it uses a VRC6 sound chip that works in the Japanese Famicom but not in the NES. Thus, the movie was made with the Japanese version of the game instead of the USA version.

This movie takes the path that recruits Sypha. There's also a Grant path movie and an Alucard path movie.

This is the fifth published movie of Dragon Warrior, a seemingly complex, but ultimately, fairly simple NES RPG. The character completes his quest at Level 7. There are several things about this movie that might seem odd if one is not aware of them beforehand:

  • All unnecessary random encounters have been manipulated into not happening
  • The player dies several times in order to get transported back to the beginning
  • Action commands are often intentionally not entered as soon as possible to manipulate critical hits and such

This improvement consists of many small changes by Shinryuu, constituting a visibly more fluent movement in each stage and faster boss battles.

In Mega Man 6 Capcom has weeded out almost all of the bugs abused in the previous Mega Man incarnations while introducing new ones which were unfortunately unable to contribute significant time-saving techniques.

Metal Gear had been one of last of the NES classics that had not been TASed. Well, not anymore ― here's one.

This game is infamous for its engrish, having comments such as "I FEEL ASLEEP!" and "UH - OH! THE TRUCK HAVE STARTED TO MOVE!"

This movie utilizes quite a wide variety of game glitches and collects the minimal set of items needed to complete the game. The author has written a detailed list of all the interesting bits of this movie.

The third game in the Wizards & Warriors series. Having been tricked out of his victory in the previous game, Kuros once again returns to do battle on evil and pretend he will marry every princess he meets.

There is some major sequence-breaking going on in this movie. Only 6 out of the 9 supposedly mandatory quests are cleared, meaning the author has to find original ways of passing obstacles he's not supposed to pass.

The ending of this game is epilepsy-inducing.

This particular movie is an updated version of the second TAS, with Malkil beaten with some magic not even the game programmers knew about.

The first 17 minutes are identical to the previous version, and were played by Ferret Warlord. The Malkil battle was played by Dacicus.

Dynamite Headdy (1994) is an often-overlooked action/platformer gem whose main hero, a star puppet named Headdy, can attack his enemies by shooting his detachable head at them.

During the span of the game, Headdy must defeat the evil puppet king Dark Demon who captured his friends' home town, the Keymasters that guard the path to the villain, and Headdy's lifelong rival Trouble Bruin, who is eager to take his place in the production.

To prevent all those bad things from happening, Headdy has a nice arsenal of interchangeable heads that are used both to attack enemies and to aid traveling, which brings enough variety to entertain the viewer throughout the movie.

This movie controls three characters simultaneously, and is the first movie to do so in TASvideos history. This, together with some other new tricks, is what lead to the massive (almost 5 minutes) cutdown in time. Keep in mind that only vikings that are on screen can be controlled.

Once again Babs Bunny has been kidnapped by Montana Max and it's time for Buster Bunny to save the day. This time it's in the very fast paced Genesis version, Buster's Hidden Treasure. The game's physics and level design seem to borrow from Sonic the Hedgehog, which for a TAS is a very good thing.

The author rushes through stages very quickly and with very accurate jumping, saving more than 18 seconds over the predecessor movie.

One person's silly idea is another person's inspiration.

This movie is essentially constructed by taking one controller and wiring it into two SNES emulators at once. The same input is used to play both games to completion.

In other words, the player plays two games simultaneously with one controller.

There is a visual anomaly during the battle with Serges in X 2. This is an emulator bug relating to the Cx4 chip used in the Mega Man X 2 cartridge.

Mega Man X2 makes a particularly interesting run as there are many weapons that can be used to increase mobility. These include a grappling hook, a fast mid-air dash and a weapon that can transform enemies into platforms. The authors take special care to ensure that when there is a situation in which a weapon could help them progress quicker, they make use of it.

This run improves the previous version by about 23 seconds of game-time. The previous run used the Japanese ROM, and the shorter cutscenes in that version make the improvement less apparent.

This movie aims for the fastest time possible. However, because the shōryūken (flame uppercut) used towards the end of the movie saves so much time, and because to get it the authors must first collect 100% of items such as Heart Tanks, Sub Tanks, and Item Capsules, this movie could be seen as a 100% run. Zero Parts are not required for the shōryūken, and thus they are not collected.

The page Mega Man X Tricks explains some of the tricks that can be used in the X series games.

Another version of the Prince of Persia game… It has quite good music.

The gymnastic master, the future prince of Persia, defies the odds and beats this game in record time. :)

Interestingly, this game only animates at around 12-20 fps (15 fps by average), contrary to most SNES games, which animate at 60 fps.

Here we see Rockman destroy Dr. Wily's army yet again, only this time on the SNES. You would think poor old Wily would learn from his past 6 mistakes, however this isn't so. On the up-side, we get another superb TAS of this famous series.

This is an improvement of approximately 71 seconds of in-game time, some of which comes from bug exploitation.

This version plays on the Japanese version of Rockman 7 whereas the previous version played on the North American version. This change affects times outside of the player's control, but still gets counted towards the movie's length.

It's the X-Men, and they're out to stop Magneto and whoever else is bad.

This game stars five of the X-men: Cyclops, Wolverine, Gambit, Beast, and Psylocke. (Professor X is probably coaching them from a safe place, like he always does.) Each member has their own level to complete, but anyone can be chosen to play the remaining levels. The author picks Psylocke for her speed, and finishes out the game with Beast for his power against bosses.
