An improved movie of Aria of Sorrow, using warping glitches to travel in- and outside of the castle with extreme speed.

This time it's played on Normal difficulty level, unlike the previous version by pirate_sephiroth. There are several reasons for this choice — you might want to read the discussion threads for this game for more details. Considering the inability to skip in-game dialogues (which is only possible on Hard mode), the route was also changed accordingly.

Like in the previous movie, you may notice the author stopping for a brief moment before making the final blow to some enemies. This is due to luck manipulation, which is one of the main speed factors for all speedruns of this game.

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, beaten in less than half an hour from a new game without taking damage from anything.

The author skips getting the Undine soul and a decently-sized portion of the castle by using an edge-of-ledge oversight in the game's programming to gain a little extra height.

There is quite a lot of luck manipulation in this movie, but some familiarity with the game is required to notice it.

When played normally, Castlevania: Circle of the Moon is a rather long game, in which exploration, leveling up, and killing bosses in order to gain access to different items or portions of the castle is necessary. However, a bit of luck manipulation and a series of glitches involving DSS cards throw all these aspects of gameplay out of the window, allowing the player to warp directly to Dracula and kill him humiliatingly in just over 5 minutes.

This movie is a mere 61 frame improvement over the joint venture between Cardboard & zggzdydp.

Nathan Graves is a vampire hunter trying to save his master, Morris, from the clutches of Dracula. Normally this would require collecting lots of different items as well as hours of leveling, but Cardboard proves collectible cards passé by gathering almost none of the cards required for spells and blazing through the game at warp speed without regard to levels or his own safety.

This movie is a 10.5 second improvement over the author's previous movie through various small & thorough optimizations.

The first quest completion time of this fast paced game got nearly cut in half thanks to Juste's ability to sink into walls when going at very high speed. Please, don't try this at home!

This is a 56 second improvement over the author's previous movie.

However, if you still think there is not enough zipping through walls, make sure to see the second quest completed in less than half a minute!

Selected quotes from JXQ:
Come follow on the adventure through a castle that contains no less than eighty clashing colors in each room! Be amazed as Juste Belmont, Simon's grandson, has to do the usual vampire hunting despite looking nothing like his grandfather (or a man at all). Question his motives when he takes time out of his rescue mission to decorate the basement he will soon destroy! Feel the pain as Juste struggles to understand that there actually are two castles!! Joe Osugi, bizarre 'anti-terrorist ninja', is called in to assist the local police, who seem to be completely useless in rescuing some hostages.

The game is basically a series of rooms connected together. Your job is to rescue the hostages and then escape the stage through the red door. You have in your arsenal a three-level shuriken, a sword, and a grappling hook similar to the one from Bionic Commando. Joe also has two special abilities: to make himself invincible and to attack all enemies on screen.

This new version by nitsuja is 4 minutes and 13 seconds (!) faster than the previous one, effectively turning it into an orgy of ropeswinging acrobatics and ninja madness.

Pokémon Sapphire, along with Pokémon Ruby and Emerald, is part of the third-generation Pokémon games, after Pokémon Gold and Silver. Noticeable differences include the graphics and interface, Pokémon abilities, and the running shoes that allow the player to move around in the outside overworld very fast, before getting the bike.

This run improves on the author's previous run by 96 seconds, mostly due to using a different Pokemon a third of the way through. Mudkip, the chosen starter, is a Water Pokémon that has Water/Ground evolutions. After the third gym, Machop, a Fighting type, is used. Its ability allows the Attack stat to be multiplied by 1.5x if it receives a status condition. The paralysis effect is no accident.

Note: You need to have Real Time Clock on and use Flash 128k as Save Type.

In case there are white-screen ROM issues, the run is also reported to work on the following ROMs:

  • Pokemon Sapphire (U) [hIRff]
  • Pokemon Sapphire (U) [h1] (Clock)

This Sonic Advance movie is unique as a speedrun in one aspect: the hero (Sonic) moves so fast that the "camera" of the game cannot even follow him. Therefore, Sonic is rarely seen in the movie.

On the rare occasions we get to watch Sonic, we get to enjoy seeing him moving through walls, charging up for another dash, or making short work of bosses.

Besides the super fast speed itself, the speed also provides Sonic an ability (glitch) to pass through platforms and walls under certain conditions.

Note: this run has two AVIs available for download. The first one is normal, ~48 MB in size and shows the movie including the credits and all. The second one is ~77 MB in size and it shows two screens side by side — the one on the left is identical to the normal version; the one on the right is made with a special emulator, hacked to force the game's camera to focus on Sonic, making it much easier to follow what nitsuja is doing with him. Unlike the first video, this version doesn't show the credits and anything following them.

Disappointed with slow paced movies that may be good but just move too slowly?

Look no further, nitsuja in this extremely high-speed run demonstrates how to break the sound barrier and why Sonic is the fastest character in the video game universe.

The average character movement speed in this movie is probably the highest of all the movies on this site.
