This movie improves on the previous movie by a whopping 79 seconds thanks to a new trick allowing Alex to ascend through walls Rockman style.

Alien Soldier, released in 1995, is a spiritual successor to Gunstar Heroes (you can tell by the cameo appearances of certain bosses), and a real treat in terms of production values as described in the tagline quoted above. The game's rather nonsensical plot boils down to the protagonist, Epsilon-Eagle, having to fight his former terrorist comrades (as well as everything on his path). Thankfully, speedrunners don't care about plots either way.

What is more important is that Alien Soldier epitomizes Treasure's concept of an action game: a fast-paced, flashy, relentless boss rush. As such, it has 33 grotesque bosses, each of them promising a guaranteed game over for inexperienced players. However, using Epsilon-Eagle's vast arsenal of weapons and dodging abilities, the authors plow through the game's "SUPERHARD" difficulty without any regard to its name in this long-awaited movie, achieving a total in-game time of 8 minutes 13 seconds.

This might look like it's an auto-scrolling game, but in fact the scroll speed depends on the number of enemies on screen. The player tries to kill all enemies as soon as possible to increase the scroll speed, using 2 characters to maximize this process. Almost 30 seconds were saved compared to the previous version.

Of course the movie doesn't involve Batman going through walls or dying to achieve his objective quicker.

This movie is a 47.4 second improvements over the previous movie. Much of the improvements are a result of using the 2-player option where the player can control both characters simultaneously rather than one at a time.

During the span of the game, Headdy must defeat the evil puppet king Dark Demon who captured his friends' home town, the Keymasters that guard the path to the villain, and Headdy's lifelong rival Trouble Bruin, who is eager to take his place in the production.

To prevent all those bad things from happening, Headdy has a nice arsenal of interchangeable heads that are used both to attack enemies and to aid traveling, which brings enough variety to entertain the viewer throughout the movie.

The object of each floor is to reach the stairs that take you up to the next floor. Normally this involves lots of exploring, collecting equipment, and fighting with numerous monsters; but, this being a TAS, you don't see so much of that.

Usually, one would have to finish the game twice in order for it to end properly. Instead of doing so, the author of this movie uses a password to start off on the 2nd playthrough. In this movie, the protagonist wizard uses various unorthodox methods for completing the game as fast as possible. He dies four times in the process, but that does not slow him down at all. In fact, dying is one of the tricks that make this movie 1,5 minutes faster than its predecessor movie.

Following the game's plot, the evil Dr. Maybe attempts to take over the dairy industry, for which he constructs a giant stronghold on the Moon. Because, as you probably know, its surface is made of cheese. The overworld map spans over 100 levels, but most of them are optional.

This run is the author's second submission for this game. The Cheese Mines and Stiltonium Machines were destroyed in order to reach the good ending. According to the author, the bad ending is about as bad as losing the game.

This improvement is a result of the previous movie's author joining forces with the author of a VBA bot used in a glitched-out Pokémon TAS. Together they've managed to shorten the solution by 14 frames with the help of a similarly-designed bot for Gens.

The only things keeping Toki alive during this movie are the buggy hit detection and about two metric tonnes of luck.

Mukki manages to complete the game (and, subsequently, expedite the process of becoming king) over 30 seconds faster than the previous movie, proving that Mukki is a better king than Dan. The author does this using tricks such as catching ledges and glitching past leopards.

This movie controls three characters simultaneously, and is the first movie to do so in TASvideos history. This, together with some other new tricks, is what lead to the massive (almost 5 minutes) cutdown in time. Keep in mind that only vikings that are on screen can be controlled.

A defining moment is one of the cutscenes, where a slime is encountered and suddenly defeated by a strange girl bursting through a brick wall. Then, an equally strange armored knight drops in from the ceiling and the two of them proceed to ignore you and chase each other away.

The fast completion time is achieved mostly by using a random-effect spell, which has a small chance of producing a devastating elephant stomp. Naturally, in a TAS, the "small chance" gets a new meaning.

The main character's ability to glide sets this apart from many other platformers. The author uses this power frequently to both gain speed and to simply hover above helpless enemies.

Because Peacock the hero is not a very smart hero, he cannot walk and use his arms at the same time (a common video game character disability). Thus he must jump to be able to use his arms. If he is charging a bigger shot when he lands, he forgets to walk for a few frames, so you cannot charge up a shot too early. It's all very delicate.

Like in other RPG runs, luck has been manipulated for many things. Although random encounters can't be completely avoided, no damage is ever taken except from bosses, and most of the leveling is done in a final rush.

As a result, we get a pretty wild mishmash of RoboCop's and Terminator's backstories in a silly plot, accompanied by equally wild gameplay. This includes seemingly inescapable bullet sprays, leotard-clad baddies, exploding heads, hidden 1-ups conveniently placed in something that looks like lava, and so on. The sheer frustration RoboCop experiences from all this madness can only be vented by banging his head on a rock.

The Genesis version of this game is notable for the amount of gore and other PG-13 goodies, as well as being able to abuse death and other things that make it most suitable for a TAS.

This is a 7 minute 38 second improvement over the previous movie. Much of this improvement is simply due to defeating bosses more quickly. The author has left detailed comments about these improvements.

A lesser-known entry in the Shinobi series, the game still holds its own. As always, ninjas rescue their hostages with style, and celebrate victories against bosses with a suicidal plunge off the nearest skyscraper.

Obviously it was no problem for maTO, who plunged through the game with impressive health management in just under 12 minutes.

This is a 4 minute 27 second improvement over the previous movie by the same author.

The author dissected the game with the help of Lua scripts to find optimal battles and avoid random encounters.

The author shows an extremely entertaining route featuring abuse of the Jump kick move, using wallkicks to fly up sheer cliffs, and even sacrificing lives to smash bosses (the reason for the 'Uses death as a shortcut' tag despite taking no damage).

During autoscroll sections Dammit is sure to entertain you by insulting the inept hordes of enemies, insulting the Genesis hardware itself in one special palette error case, and pulling some disappearing acts crazy enough to be worthy of a Ninja. He also made 2 minutes and 45 seconds of the previous run disappear in a cloud of smoke.

Though, since the latter set of Emeralds isn't used for anything meaningful at all, the author has also provided a version that skips all the Super Emeralds and their respective bonus stages, which is about 9 minutes shorter. For those that have seen the Knuckles 100% run (or just don't like waiting around), there is a second, smaller mkv that omits the emerald collection, loading/end of stage screens and removes the Hyper Sonic flash/music.

This run takes everything you know about Sonic and Knuckles and turns it upside-down. It extensively uses the "scroll objects offscreen to pass through them" trick to zip and warp to places that shouldn't be reached, break bosses, and effectively skip entire stages.

It is worth noting that nitsuja did not directly participate in the creation of this movie; instead, Upthorn incorporated newly discovered tricks in several stages and spliced them in for a total improvement of 49 seconds.

This game is the official sequel to Rocket Knight Adventures, whereas the SNES version with the same title is some sort of spinoff. This game is supposedly about an alien taking control over earth, but since the first level says "Казахская ССР", there are small red stars everywhere, and one of the bosses holds a hammer and sickle... well, we all know what this game is really about.

In this run enemies blindly spray bullets at the main characters, naturally missing every shot as bad guys generally do. (Heroes, no matter where or when, can be assumed to have plasma shields.)

This version by zggzdydp is about 27 seconds faster than the previous movie due to various scattered improvements, most notably the 3-2 boss fight.

According to its plot, the Earth's population decided they have polluted it enough, and migrated elsewhere, leaving robots made of orbs ("orbots") behind to clean up the mess. One of the higher level orbots gets his head accidentally attached to a nuclear warhead, goes insane and usurps total control over all mechanical beings left on the planet. This is the state the main hero, orbot Vectorman, finds it in after returning from one of his garbage discharging missions.

There have been multiple attempts at TASing this game, yet this is the first one to get published.

In this sequel, Vectorman's sludge barge gets suddenly blasted by a missile. He escapes and ends up in a place infested by mutant insects led by horrendous Black Widow Queen, whose plan is to… right, take over the Earth and kill all humans, as expected.

This is a 33.6 second improvement over m-eighty's previous movie. The author left detailed comments about the various improvements.

In this run mmbossman entertains you with Wolverine's vast repertoire, breaking many laws of physics as he moves through the stages and stabs anything that happens to get too close. A large variety of tricks are used.

He also takes rockets to the face while fighting a helicopter just to squeeze in faster time, showing you just what extremes he will go to entertain you. There is also a wonky palette error glitch in one particular stage.

The Oasis Boots that are normally required to cross the desert were not used in this movie, because it was slightly faster to go without them.

In Japan the game is known as Monsterworld 3.

You get to choose which X-man to play every stage as. Most of the time Nightcrawler is used because he has the highest movement speed. Second in command is Wolverine because he has the second highest speed and also deals a ton of damage.

The game is unique in the regard that it starts as soon as you power on your console. No SEGA logo, no title screen, you don't get to choose a character. Normally the game pseudorandomly gives you Beast, but changing the types of controllers (3- or 6-button) throws off the start-up timing enough that a faster character can be gotten.

This movie features some nifty tricks and shortcuts, such as abusing Nightcrawler's teleport, attacking through floors, and going extra fast in the falling levels. This game has had several attempts, but this is the first published version.
