Axiom Verge, released in 2015, is a 2D Metroidvania centered around the protagonist Trace, a scientist who finds himself on the world of Sudra after an experiment gone wrong, separated from Earth by a deadly void called the Breach. When Trace arrives on Sudra he finds its civilization collapsed due to the release of a deadly pathogen in the act of biological warfare. With the help of the Rusalki — giant war machines that guard this world — Trace has to uncover the truth behind the fall of Sudra, confront the perpetrator behind it, and return back to his home world across the Breach.
Axiom Verge takes heavy inspiration from early Metroid games and some other platformers of the era and employs a number of unconventional storytelling and gameplay design decisions, and is all-around well-polished. If you enjoy action platformers or exploration-driven games with a solid sci-fi plot, playing through the game before watching the TAS is highly recommended so that the latter 1/4 of it (and especially the 4th boss, Vision) become easier to comprehend.
keylie improves the previous TAS by almost 3 minutes thanks to getting the grappling hook, better optimisation, and skipping one of the bosses. He completes the game's speedrun mode (which shows an in-game timer and disables all cutscenes) in 25:09.24 by the in-game timer, picking up 15% of items.
Boss times: 02:26.52 (Xedur), 05:39.08 (Telal), 11:02.19 (Uruku), 18:20.54 (Vision), 20:23.42 (Ukhu).

Baba Is You is a puzzle game. Baba moves tiles around his world that define how the world works. The text "Baba Is You" means you are controlling Baba. If that becomes "Wall Is You", suddenly you are controlling all of the walls.

Due to how fast the levels are solved, the second set of encodes show them slowed down to 16.7% of the normal speed, with everything else at normal speed.

Undertale is a 2015 2D role-playing video game created by American indie developer Toby Fox. Undertale is notable for its use of multiple endings that change depending on the player’s actions. The goal of this TAS is to achieve each of the major variations in the endings, 10 of them in total. This allows for a diverse mix in the gameplay, as a lot of aspects that are normally skipped become required. For example, one of the main branching qualifications in the Neutral endings is which of the main bosses are left alive (besides Asgore who dies in all Neutral endings). Normally in Neutral speedruns, all four main bosses are left alive, but in All Major Endings, boss kills are part of the route.
The multiple branching endings also create opportunities for clever routing to save time. For example, one could save before Mettaton, kill Mettaton, and get an ending, then reload, skip Mettaton, and get a different ending. The unique route resulting from optimizing these routing decisions is what makes this an attractive and interesting way to speedrun the game.

Unlock Everything is an action platformer that was developed for the Ludum Dare 45 game jam. According to the author, it is "a love letter to Mega Man with a twist", the twist being that every mechanic taken for granted, such as proper sound, walking and jumping, has to be unlocked by finding modules for them. A female android named "Libra" was rescued from an explosion by someone that looks like Dr. Light. She has lost everything in her programming, from sensory input to memories. The Dr. Light-looking figure managed to restore some of her personality and her visual sensors, but had to abruptly leave due to a mysterious danger. Libra is now on her own to restore her body to the way it once was and figure out what's happening around her.
Here, Merl_ plays this classic Mega Man throwback as fast as possible, even managing to quickly take down a robot that suspiciously looks like Metal Man.

VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action is a visual novel made by Sukeban Games in 2016. Set in a cyberpunk environment, the player holds a bar and serves drinks to the various customers that visit it while listening to their stories.
Spikestuff performs a perfect service - that is, make no mistakes while making a drink and gets all of the good endings in record time.
Whilst the TAS zooms through the story, we still recommend playing it before watching the TAS, as it spoils the solutions to the drinks as well.

In VVVVVV, the player controls Captain Viridian, who is lost in an alternate dimension, in search of the missing members of the spaceship's crew. Instead of jumping, the player is able to control the direction of gravity, allowing Captain Viridian to flip between the floors and ceilings of the environment. The graphical style of the game is heavily influenced by the Commodore 64.
Masterjun improves the previous run by 2 minutes and 56.01 seconds, thanks to exploiting a glitch in the infamous Gravitron intermission, allowing one to skip directly to the end through the Gravitron. Please read the author's comments for more details.
This run avoids using glitches that require pressing the Escape key. There is also a run that uses these glitches to beat the game even faster.

Elomavi improves the previous TAS by around 8 seconds after accounting for version differences, thanks to better routing and not having to re-enter the game again in order to perform the credits warp. This run was made using the latest version of the game, but under a mode that allows for glitches that were present in version 2.0 to be used.

Völgarr the Viking is a video game released by Crazy Viking Studios in 2013, inspired by old arcade games like Ghosts 'n Goblins or Rastan. Players take the role of the titular Völgarr, risen from the dead and commanded by Odin to find and slay the greedy dragon Fáfnir. The game has minimal presentation and story, having no formal title screen or opening menu and no cutscenes or dialogue. It has a high level of challenge and a deliberate pacing, expecting the player to proceed with caution and learn the layouts of each level, playing each through multiple times until they are mastered. It also encourages speedrunning, including a speed runner HUD option, as the game uses very few randomized elements and has many options for increasing the speed a player can get through a level.
There are two paths available after beating Stage 1, namely the Crystal path, where difficulty gradually rises, eventually reaching its peak in the Tower, and where the player has infinite retries, and the Valkyrie path, where the player has a limited amount of retries (if one loses all retries on this path, the player is going to play the Crystal path variant of the same level) and generally much harder than the Crystal path. Doing a full Valkyrie path run is necessary to obtain the best ending, as it unlocks the true final stage as well as the true last boss.
keylie slices and dices through the Valkyrie path and obtains the best ending in record time.

You Have to Win the Game is a platformer with graphics reminiscent of the 1980s. Like other metroidvania titles, it requires exploration in order to get upgrades and progress through the game.
letcreate123 completes the game in record time via precise movements, death warps, and a triple jump glitch. See the author's comments for details.
