Published runs I've made:
view the list here
(I hope others will obsolete these runs; I'm not really for ownership of a run by the player that recorded it, and I'd like to see what new tricks can be added.)
Everything is on hold for the time being...
Runs I would like to do:
- Mischief Makers (N64) - I'm a good deal of the way through, but need to redo a lot before continuing. And I'm somewhat stuck on deciding whether I have really been pushing Marina's basic capabilities to the maximum. (progress on the run so far)
- Elevator Action - Old & New (GBA) - New - I'm a few levels in, and starting to wonder if maybe I shouldn't have chosen the fastest-moving character, because she has less health to use on shortcuts (progress so far)
- Gunstar Heroes (Genesis) - 2 player, expert mode - Could be a lot better than the current 1-player run, even with only 1 player. Tracking flame + slam/kick does good damage, much more per frame on average than flame or laser. With 2 players, throwing the other guy at the enemy does huge damage compared to anything, so some good blast, throw, blast, kick combos can be performed on bosses. Throwing can also be used to give one character a movement boost in the levels. One character should be set to free and the other to fixed, for the different appearance and animations, as it doesn't matter much besides that (unless the flamethrower select bug is more useful in free mode).
- Pocky & Rocky (SNES) - 2 player, hard mode, no hits taken from enemies - not as easy as it seems. I found that powerups don't actually increase the damage you do, but they have smaller advantages. Both players can slide tackle each other on the same frame to spin quickly or through tough parts of stages, this uses health but I won't count it as taking damage. (progress so far)
- Smart Ball (SNES) - v2 - Several embarrasing mistakes to fix of v1.
- Super Bomberman 2 (SNES) - v3 - I found at least one major time-saver (using bombs to boost movement) not used in v2, but I'm stuck on luck manipulating 1-2
- Terranigma (SNES) - any% - Will be fun to optimize but I might go crazy trying to minimize time spent leveling up
- Equinox (SNES) - Currently stalled from lack of interest (of me and of others) and realizing I'll have to go back and get a spell I skipped. (progress so far)
Note that these have always been somewhat long-term plans, and I may come across other games that I would like to TAS that I will insert at the top of the list or finish before they even get there.
Runs I would like to see:
- Final Fantasy 5 (SNES)
- Final Fantasy 4 (GBA and SNES)
- Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (GBA) - With so many options, there must be some way to beat the game quickly. Should attempt to fight no unnecessary battles, I think it'd be faster (if it's possible). (Whoever does this had better not forget to change the brightness to TV Mode!)
- Secret of Mana (SNES) - 3 player - I was thinking about doing this, but I wouldn't be able to start on it anytime soon, and by then somebody else will probably have finished a run of it. If not, I could always change plans again later.
- Mario Kart (SNES) 2-player would be nice...
- Metroid Fusion (GBA) - any% and low%
- Super Mario 64 (N64) - 120 Stars, and (because it will give a better movie length without skipping too much action) 70 stars
- River City Ransom EX (GBA) - 1p on Crazy difficulty with +2 speed
- Donkey Kong (SGB)
- Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories (GBA)
- Star Fox 64 (N64) - some high-score-oriented goal
- Metal Slug Advanced (GBA)
- Batman 2 (NES)
- Metal Combat-Falcon's Revenge (SNES) - hard mode, falcon - Most enemies can be killed much faster than probably anybody would guess
- Yoshi's Safari (SNES) - 100% kills and coins with the expert mode code on, and set to 2-player for more optimal movement
- River City Ransom (NES) - making use of newer glitches (example movie) and skips, possibly 2-player? I don't know about the hard-mode issue.
- Shining Force (Genesis or GBA) - either one, although they're quite different
- Umihara Kawase (SNES) - longer/longest route - I don't care if the extra bosses are slow, neither of the current runs seem complete enough
- Riviera - The Promised Land (GBA) - might be better for TASing than it seems; the text and between-battle stuff is all very fast, although it may be difficult to plan for combat.
- Of course, all runs in the list above this one are also ones I'd like to see, or I wouldn't consider doing them.
Plans for emulators
- Help with Snes9x
- Release a new version of Mupen64 re-recording, with record-from-reset, start-from-SRAM, Bisqwit's A/V sync and scaling patch, and minor bugfixes.
- Add combo support and fix some bugs in the N64 TAS Input Plugin
(And I've probably forgotten to list a few other things in all of the above sections.)
