I dislike the new site header. Too many things are missing or difficult to get to.
So:
Useful links.
About me:
- I tend to prefer runs that don't aim for speed. If you slow down and demonstrate some neat quirks or just show a lot of the game, I enjoy it more.
- Unless the game is excessively long and boring normally (see Ocarina of Time).
- I tend to prefer warpless runs, with the exception above.
- A good general idea is that I prefer runs that are interesting, not fast. Hence, my one submission reflects this (using only one flipper in places, attempting to do interesting feats, etc.)
- I do a lot of Lua scripting for NES via FCEUX. SNES9x's font is too frustrating to be a viable option for me, unfortunately.
Games I know things about:
- Currently, Excitebike.
- There are some pretty interesting misconceptions about the game. Higher speeds aren't faster; after you pass a certain threshold, you progress slower.
- This threshold is approximately 0x0800 units. The closer you are to this without going under, the better your results will be.
- I estimate that a few seconds (0.10 or less in most cases) could be shaved off most tracks. At one point I actually did rough checks, but that was long ago.
- The scrolling on-screen and the actual scrolling in memory are not exactly synchronized. This is why faster speeds seem faster; the track is still flying by, but the actual track in RAM isn't updating. In all normal cases, though, they're synchronized.
- Unfortunately, using this strategy tends to lose one of the more interesting factors; namely, seeing the scrolling break. 0x0800 is slightly faster than the game can handle, and it never breaks quite as spectacularly as it does at higher speeds.
- I know some other games, too. But for the time being, I forgot.
- Perhaps later I can put more knowledge here...? We'll see.
...
I'm an editor here who doesn't really do much with that privledge. I used to keep a
Xkeeper/Quotes page, but over time it fell out of being updated, and is several years out of date.
I have
one published movie. I'm sure most people could care less. It isn't a partiuclarly well-known game.
I don't get along very well with most other people on this site, for a few reasons. Your milage may vary when dealing with me, of course.
This edit is really just a cover-up for the real purpose; adding the cat to this page so I can use it later.

It looks wrong here for a few reasons. Just ignore it and move on.
